Okay, last minute comments!! Not so much in the area of critics so sorry in advance. Everyone deserves recognition for a job well done with these comics!! I know a majority were doing alot of last minute comics but I enjoyed reading them regardless.

Yarn:
Love the tone you have going here! I always liked the watercolor look so it only added to the experience of reading your comic!

Goldie: I know it’s unfinished and you had another page, but it still reads amazingly! You had some great layouts. The way it ends here really pulls at my heart.

Taylor: I dig this concept alot haha. Sure, maybe a few more details would have added to the enjoyment but I still appreciate the stark changes in the shading! Abstract comics are alot of fun and now I kinda want more

Fu: I honestly can’t read your comic without fucking laughing. I love it.
You used 69 Seven times and 420 eleven times.

Nothin: Short and sweet! Just as promised haha. No really~ It’s pretty cute simple comic! Very nicee

Shen: Love me some Unluckies and I’m always happy to read more lore from the world you have been building!! You did a great job with the water ~

I will just say all these 1 day comics are better stuff than what I can produce in one week, you all did amazing and I will just do quick comments for each battle since a lot of these are 1 day ones.

Yarn: This was a fantastic comic and i love the texture that resulted fromt he water color on the paper you used, it fits the tone really well.

Golden: I'm interested in the dolls story and hope to see more of their story and what happens to them, i also liked the string background on page two as well as you playing around with the abstract eyes.

otakutaylor: This was a cool experiment and I like this abstract type of story and want to see you try more of these kinds of stories. though for future ones where you repeat the same thing I would say have more than one element be added and have a couple more subtle changes that way the reader will be able to appreciate all the changes more and realize quicker that it's intentional.

Fukuro: Your grayscale and inks are really awesome, also the effects you did on the first panel on page 3 were cool. i also enjoyed this little interaction between the characters.

Nothin: this was a cute interaction and your character designs are cool, you make cute non humanoid figures.

Shen: I love this myth story and it's is nice world building to your unluckies comic and is a good little side story you should put up there, i think it kind of works in black and white compared to your regular comic to contrast and the fact it's a myth from the past.

I really just don't have the energy to critique each of these, but hey! I can at least do compliments! And I do have some to dish out. If any of you guys do want me to whip up a critique, just hmu on discord or something, I can always write something up later. I promise you all I do have something to say for each comic, just not the energy to type it all out right now. :)

As a general compliment: Once again, congrats to you all who turned in, regardless of the time constraints that were a given! Each of these comics were quite different and I enjoyed the varying genres/atmospheres given in this competition. Rushed or unfinished, I appreciate the work y'all still put in the end!

Yarn: This is quite a comic! I'm always gonna enjoy your watercolor comics,tbh...I find this protagonist to be a real cute gal, so of course I find the last page to be my favorite not only for the twist but just because I like her smile!!! I'm rootin' for her! Even if she has some strange mass attached to her, haha.

Golden: Even though some panels are unfinished, I will say I was invested in this comic the most! The last page may have left the story on a cliffhanger of sorts, it didn't hinder my enjoyment. Panel 4 of page 4 is my favorite, really. And the characters looked so cute as children, hope things turn up better for em' by the actual end of the story omg.

Taylor: Upon a first and second read, I will have to admit that I was lost here and found it difficult to connect the dots of what was happening with the repetition. But upon recognizing the visual cues Just Now actually, I seriously respect the abstracted approach that was taken with this comic! I like the several takes on shading styles to demonstrate the pacing within, the conclusion wrapping it all up quite nice and tidy.

Fukuro: This comic got me smilin' the whole time, the humor here is good and I really like Sanitas' look tbh. Either way, love me a good shitpost as well as the lineart (The fact that you the comic lookin' so clean like this in one day I give Much Respect To), I hope those two learn to do fractions successfully omg....

Nothin: Olly is So Cute...I support them so much.....I love the inkwork goin on here! Even if it's just one page, I found this really wholesome??? Would love to see more of these two in the future, in one way or another.

Shen: I love how this is actually folklore from your webcomic, Shen! I almost felt bad for the abyssal king lmao, but the ending for the other two is certainly a sweet one. I love the stealing of stars gist, and overall this comic was certainly a lore goodie.

@Astrodile Oh you ARE "that guy".  The one that cares and appreciates all artists.  No artist left behind from here on out.  Except the defaulters.  But no hard feelings!

Yarn: As everyone said, this was a fantastic spooky read.  I love the effort to use traditional media as much as possible.  But, I think there are a lot of instances where the letters are smudged, broken, or is over a dark background and hard to see.  Artwise there are a few parts where the perspective or anatomy is weird like her head in pg3 panel 1, her whole body pg3 last panel.  Finally pg3 (lol idk why i pick on this pg)  the mirror hand's fingers switch direction completely between reaching and grabbing her head.  That aside, this was amazing and stylish and an incredible effort.

Golden: Very tragic, but beautiful concept. I wonder if it was even meant to be longer, as I wanted to know what would happen to the doll after it was dropped. Would it cry? Would it finally speak, and reveal it was alive to her? IT JUST CANT END LIKE THIS!!! *sob*  Anyways, I'm sorry you were unable to finish, as it looks like a lot of love and effort was put into its conception.  I think it's definitely something to consider in future contests--a smaller story even if not as amazing would at least meet deadlines.  But, I hope you do finish this later, as it will be truly incredible!

OtakuTaylor: Now this was interesting! Even though it's just one page modified in different ways, it's perfect for the metaphor of restarting and remixing for the sake of finding "perfection".  I see you in this old sculptor, especially at the end when he smiles at his work despite all of the "failures" finally making those broken pieces into something new.  Well done, Taylor!

Fukuro: Great comic! Really love the humor here.  Panels are neatly stacked, but varied just enough to not look boring.  pg3 second to last panel felt a bit too small to capture the needed detail, but maybe shifting the perspective less overhead so you can see both guys more clearly.  Other than that, you did a fun, well-paced read!

Nothin: Cute comic! I like the relatable story, and the characters have a lot of charm.  Looks like you meant to do more pages, but at least the 'cute witch' is satisfying.

Shen: This was a fantastic read! The paneling is dynamic and spectacular!  Also to do this in one freakin' day, that just blows my mind *o*  Maybe the last page the abyssal king's expression is a bit underwhelming. Final panel could be moved downward and enlarged for dramatic effect.  We can see the vast emptiness of the deeps contrasted with the light above.  Again, this was a solid comic.  I'm nitpicking hard just to fill this paragraph.XP  Well done!

Astrodile: Not to be that guy, but you should all also share just as much love to the other five people who submitted (And also did their comics in one day!). All of these are great and I'm gonna do my critique eventually, but I'm proud of all of you for doing what you could within the little time you had. <3

Heathen: I’m busy at work, so I’m just gonna comment on these as I read them.

Yarn, your comic is awesome. If you really did all that in one day, you are truly an inspiration and a force of nature. That’s 2 weeks worth of a comic, and doesn’t need an excuse. Very well done.

I will confirm that Yarn did indeed do all of this in one day.  She was painting like a madman in Google Hangouts last night.

I'm joining the "done in a day" crowd! but im really happy with it.
I enjoyed working on this because it let me explore something that was hard for me to get over in real life, and still be okay with the solution not being perfect!

Long story short, new seasonal job wore me out more than I thought it would and I wasn't able to draw out any of the initial ideas I wanted to use since they would take up too much time and energy. I resorted to drawing out a shitpost idea from my Pokemon DnD game with Alouisse's and Umbriel's characters in like a day so hopefully the story's still enjoyable.
Hope you enjoy!

I'm in the same boat as Shen ; v ;
Work, job interviews, all combined with commissions and burnout, I basically did this in a day too
A page is missing, but I hope it's still at least nice to look at for what's near complete

oof I'm sorry, I did NOT have the time/energy/motivation so i ended up doing my entire comic literally in one day ><; I'm sorry. Don't feel too compelled to crit this too hard, I already know.
The story is a folktale i made up for Unluckies worldbuilding.

Typical Astro Sean fashion as of lately, I am defaulting on my own event... I ran into some bad luck the past week and my laptop completely shit the bed. I do work traditionally, but don't have a way to scan my pages or upload them without the use of my silly MacBook Pro. Sorry for being a letdown. No excuses though! I hope everyone had fun and submits something!
