THANKS ROFLQU FOR ONE OF THE MOST INTENSE BATTLES EVER.

@Kozi: again thanks for the advice from earlier, and you're right that i give a lot of love to my opponents' characters. Your assessment for this match was spot on- my game plan was to essentially finish Sally's story while leaving Mortido's story open and ambiguous. In comparison to Roflqu's brilliantly written Sally, Mortido didn't have that much development throughout lsdt and people noticed.

I apologize to everybody who couldn't enjoy my comic because my pages were too small to read. I'm hoping to work something out with bobo to get bigger pages in so you guys can actually enjoy my comic.

Its a little spooky that not only are the votes on this battle are tied, but your respective comics strengths and weaknesses are pretty identical! You guys sure don't make it easy, but we poor suffering viewers. We try, we try so hard for the sake of great comics!

CHOLERIC- Some wonderfully intense colors in this one. Your eye for detail and visual movement of a character really shines here- particularly in the bottom panel of page 1 with Sally running. When you comics, even for a deadline of so little days, you hit that paper like you have a compulsion to cover every square inch with art and it shows in this battle. Perhaps a little too much. This kind of work is great for big impact scenes or splash pages, but all these of these pages feel like splash pages, which, can be overwhelming in a good AND bad way. Still, that glass attack was spellbinding. The visuals you are able to translate from your head to paper are super stunning!
I notice your panel layout seems to be getting touched on a bit in the comments which weirds me out since the majority of all your comics follow this kind of formula. You just have this wonky flow that folks either are able to follow or cannot. Also, the fact that Mortido himself didn't develop much throughout this tournament is a fair assessment, but really when you think about it, he the bad guy. True baddies, I think, can only be taken so far. I felt it was a smart storytelling move to shift that focus on Sally and come at it with a pretty heartwarming story to get us to swallow that bitter pill that he died. I know the votes would've shifted in a completely different way if you took the time to develop Mort at the expense of simply dispatching Sally. Also, the fact you married together all of Sally's past tournaments and portrayals in past battles was a great touch.

Though I too have questions about that cat coming outta nowhere XD

ROFLQU- I find it funny that I got to know more of Sally in Choleric's comic, but found myself learning a bit more of Mortido in yours. The museum of the Mortido seemed a fitting stage for what felt like a last stand against what is essentially a god. Poor little Sally definitely didn't have it easy this time around. While your inkwork was feeling just as strong as your previous tounds, I feel your colors have gotten a little flatter.Granted, there are some great uses of color, but I gotta agree with some of the previous comments you've gotten. Still, while you both ended on a 'unfinished' page color wise, I feel your lack of color felt like part of the story considering the action going on, on your last page.

You guys have come in fists flying with some stunning comics. Whoever loses is leaving LSDT poorer for the loss.

Quick crit, excellent super detailed comics from the both of you.  Though I certainly feel like you both ran out of time.  It's funny because they're almost mirrored that way in your processes, like you both ran out of steam at the same time on the same number of things.

The problem for me in Jong's comic (and I get the feeling that it's been mentioned from briefly scanning) is that the layouts are a bit wonky.  I don't think the size would have changed our perception of it (though a little larger would help us appreciate some details) but a lot of the flow here doesn't feel natural.  I didn't fully understand the last page and it took me a few tries.  My personal nitpick that doesn't have much to do with how I voted on this comic, is that Mortido didn't have any development during this tournament.  The comics have been a showcase of your skill but feel ultimately like fluff and not very filling.

For Rofl, I see that the coloring on the second page needed some tightening.  And because of the lack of color I feel  it gets a bit confusing in following the action but not impossibly so.  But what I commend you for is that the final page feels like it doesn't need the coloring.  I understand it pretty clearly and it doesn't feel like it needs any words beyond the actions apparent on the page.

My ultimate wish is for this match to be a tie.  Because I'm a terrible person and I just want to watch the world burn.

Jong- I have to agree on how overcomplicated these pages are buuut I disagree on the colors. I really like them! Mortido's magic against Sally's fire everywhere makes everything bright but also intense, at least in my opinion. I also love the ending you gave Sally, where he gets to move on to the afterlife with the friends he's made in the tournament. Finally a break (sort of) for the little guy. Including the glassmaking skill was nice but at the end there I feel like I've missed something. Mortido falls apart then... Is that cat Mortido now? What happened on his end? Or is it left off for us to see in the next one? Showing things from Sally's perspective for the end was satisfying, but still left me wondering about Mortido.

Rofl- I like the setting you laid out for this one, especially with Sally's ending scene for the round, lying by the banner. Plus, you gave Mortido some lines that tied in with your tragic lens for the tournament without completely sacrificing the personality of his character. But page 2 throws me off on following this comic. It's a weird switch, from vertical to horizontal, and it's super huge so I thought at first maybe you had uploaded the wrong file for it. It's hard to follow a page when you're focused on searching the page for the next panel. That said, I'm still super invested in Sally's story, and that end page was awesome even without the color, since you put a lot of work into your inks and effects.

ERICS: Sooo this is the point in the tourney where contestants push the boundaries of the format to cram in as much as possible? where single pages turn into double spreads... I have no problem with that as such but this made it really fucking difficult for me to read the comics as neither fits on the screen for me.  PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND. This takes away a lot from the enjoyment.

Eric 1: Love the trippy colors and the general gloop. And awwww, Sally is now in a happy place... How sweet :P. Shame you didn't get to finish ^o^

Eric 2: The really dark and very similar colors in top panels on page two make it really difficult for me to read, on top of the size of the page. But I liked the ending - very Dr Manhattan haha. Shame you didn't get to finish ^o^

Jong: honestly, the colours combined with the small page sizes kinda killed it for me.  my eyes kept wanting to look every which way and I kept getting lost in the flow.  I've been feeling that from your pages that are solid blocks of colour, everything's kinda bleeding together.  page 2 made a big change in clarity for me, it was a lot easier to follow the pace of what was happening, and in the end a super satisfying and intriguing ending.

Rofl: I feel like you're bringing back the round 1 quality, this is right up there as one of the best of your run for sure.  I got a little confused on Page 2 with the double spread since I wasn't sure if I should read horizontally or vertically first, but I got right back into it pretty quick.  Also a very satisfying ending from you, it's like a mixture of relief and worry.

This one's gonna be a nailbiter

Wow, Choleric, you knew that Sally had a big moving arc going and instead of crushing it, you decided to one up ROFL in the "satisfying  conclusion to Sally's journey" department.

And ROFL... I don't know if the top of that last page is actually incomplete, or if it's stylistically incomplete-looking. If it IS incomplete, you picked just the right place to have the color phase out and then phase back in like you totally meant to do it.

(Am I being laughably redundant in pointing out the Akira vibe I'm getting from both of these?)

before I go in a with a crit, I gotta address this:

This was a great effort from the both of you. Jong you really pushed the art here compared to last round and Rofl, your comps were just as great. You two were probably the biggest heavy hittiers so far and yet I wish this was a finals match, instead.

But the only thing you two have to be careful is this: Jong, your pages were small, and that made a lot of your great pages, cramped and cluttered and not even the way you tried directing the eye helped. I suggest when you rough out a page layout, zoom out to see if it reads.

Rofl, page 3 got somewhat confusing cause I had no Idea what was happening between sally and mortido, I mean the shit in between it made up for it cause I now Sally was going to do what he could to kill Moritdo, I just couldnt make heads or tales of how it happened.

Ill go more in depth when I get time

I really can't pick between either of these. Even with incomplete pages you both still get Entertainment - 10
