The hatching for the shading seems a little sloppy to me. It seems like something you might be able to work out over time but its not there yet. And your backgrounds have no life to them. Very plain. Id say those would be the things to work on as you start battling.

This seems to be a real interesting character, and you're off to a solid start. I look forward to seeing his first battle!

Backgrounds are a little plain, and from Tinman's comment, the setting is the tiniest bit unclear. The colours are rather vibrant for such a mysterious sort of character, and some nice strong shading could have been good, to create depth and a darker atmosphere too. Your lineart is quite sketchy and I'm not a huge fan of the hatch-shading on the arms. It looks traditional, so I'd recommend buying some good pens and markers, with different line widths.
The story was pretty good however, although I still checked out the bio to find out what the sling was all about, the comic still stands by itself and leaves the reader itching to find out more. Very mysterious!
Otherwise, I pretty much agree with what has already been said. Good job!

Thanks for the input BenT, working out a smoother inking option as we speak. Should come in handy for the first battle. 8D

This does a good job of showing the character and hinting at his powers. Obviously you can read the full description in his bio, but if this were a blind start to his story, then it does a good job. You do want to work on the sketchiness of your lines, also work in some more varied line weights. Some of the hatching to show shading is a bit too much in places (the hand in panel 2 on page 1). I'm guessing that this is traditional. If so, I would suggest trying to get smother lines in your inking. Save the sketchy feel for your pencils.

The colors are a bit to vibrant and flat, but I see some shading. I'm not sure what program you're using, but if it's Photoshop, try using gradiants to add some shading and depth to your art.

Now, GET TO BATTLING!

     Hey dude, welcome to Void!

The colour of the shadows is really boring. It looks like you just scaled the brightness down from the base colour of the object. Often a shadow is a colder colour than the object it belongs to, or you can use the complimentary of the object to shadow it. There's more to it than that, and check out the coloring threads in the forums, talk to dudes and critically observe artists whose sense of colour you really like. There's a " colour-stuff" challenge in VCU right now, if you do some stuff for that you're sure to get some great pointed crits from great colourists.

Your line art is really thin and scratchy, but your design sheet shows you can totally make lines in one motion.

Jump strait into a fight dude! This character totally reminds me of Agent Black. I think it's the hairstyle and the whole "mysterious killer" type thing.

That is... not a bed it's one of those Japanese styled door way ledges. |||orz

Next time I'll just draw it out. Thanks for the advice by the way.

Glad you took the layout advice, it reads quite well and I'm intrigued to see what you do with Clyde. One question- What's up with the brick pattern bedspread?
