Wolcik/LeFred - I really enjoyed your story! The anatomy, poses, and facial expressions were all really well done. The colors worked especially on Buster in his human form and Mr. Awesome, but got pretty muddy in spots (like in the first few pages and page 13). It's good that its not oversaturated, but be careful that it doesn't look too much like shades of brown on brown, especially when there are brighter colors in the comic. Very nive job!

Shojin/Julz - Very cute and vibrant style, and perfect match-up of characters. Great job you two! The only thing I could think that could've been improved was that Nyasuu's re-entrance at the end could've been more dramatic with a longer shot or a different angle. The backgrounds were just detailed enough--very nice use of environment. I could always tell where the characters were when it mattered.

Wolcik/LeFred: Reading your bit in the tournament thread about how you guys went about making this comic, I felt the same way in alot of ways, and where it worked well enough for Felle and I, it worked out amazingly for you guys. I've already said that I think Fred is one of the top writers in the void, and I'll keep saying that until he proves me wrong. Wolcik's art translates the script so well. Since I've been out I'm not familiar with this demon thing of Casino Reasoning, so that threw me for a loop since I generally followed the character alot. But Mr. Awesome's solution was platinum. I love the videogame playing, and if we match up next time, I definitely wanna throw back to that in some way.

Shojin/Julz: The story is funny for sure, and the colors are nice, the images bring laughs, but I think the lineart is a bit too thick and doesn't do the details justice. I would love this comic alot more if the lines were not as heavy.

for both of you, I'm sorry I haven't said anything till now. It's just so random and hard to talk about both your works. But I think the greatest highlight is definitely the color.

wolcik/lefred: I have no idea where the hell you guys conjured up a random story, it's so...random. Anyhow, very strong colors. I would say that you should watch out when you're changing temperature on your color palate (from super bright colors to super dull grey-ish colors). Because the coloring is less saturated and some characters have very bright colors, you should change the composition a tiny bit here and there to emphasize the character more. This is mostly at Mr. Awesome. His face blends in with the other colors, but his bright yellow boots and gloves stand out so much more than the rest of him, starting with page six. A way to reduce the color change is to compose your comic images so that his hands or feet aren't in the front of the viewer. Another way is to make a consistent warm-cool palatte for the entire page, which you did very well on page 10 and 11.

shojintakaru/julz: You have a super bright palate. If you ever have the intention of using a palate to add depth to the objects behind it, a usual rule is that objects that are closer to the viewer are more saturated, and objects away from the viewer are less saturated. You can always change the line width (thicker lines usually means closer objects). Just something to think about.

Wolchik/LeFred
That cover- that first shot of Casino- is he showing his O face? The spastic, psychotic stream of consciousness from Mr.Awesome is a joke a panel. I’m sure both of you contributed to the adequately bizarre and madcap script and it shows. The perspective on some shots due to heights is inconsistent, could do with some reigning in on spatial awareness. Nice painterly style, the backgrounds are impressive with all those painstaking details on the shelves.
Very well drawn, sometimes Wolt’s stuff is a bit off model or inconsistent but that’s rarely the case here. The facial expressions and cleanliness of the lines are especially grand. You excel at action and the big burly brawl impressively displayed your skills but some effects such as the speed decaps were lost in the mix- the evap effect is good for sustaining a blast but you should have gone with zag or circular speed lines off Awesome form to show the rending at work in one panel- or after images. Nailed the bow and arrow usage tho- which is rarely done right. Interesting ending there, funny  how you both arrived at the same conclusion.

Julienya/Shojin
Julie you’ve got nice looking characters but the weighty blacks on all the edges at the same consistency just dampens all your nice details and coloring- I see this in a lot of artists and it just hurts the environmental interactivity and lighting on the models. Also in conjunction with you handwritten lettering its unified but distracting- clean that up some. Your colors, background details and paneling were well accomplished. I think your wonky borders and dirty style are charming but you lose consistency towards the end- trading your bold strokes for crinkly little black scribbles that diminish the overall quality. Maintain- clarify and refine your line control because you’re onto a good unique style that has improved and grown in the past year, just keep trending that way. Wish I could direct you but I’m unfamiliar with digital inking. Writing wise it was pretty fun if a bit simple but I did like the way you contextualized the characters- quite funny, slice of life story that elicited some chuckles.

these were both real fun reads! I love how both had smooching.

wolcik & lefred- the first thing that stands out to me are the colours. I'm not a fan of them, they often look muddied and just bleh. while it was a fun read, I was getting lost around the end with all the demons, and didn't really know how/what/why things were happening. but I pushed past it to the end and it still wrapped up nicely. there's anatomy issues sprinkled about, but overall it's fairly solid.

shoji & julz- very cute! I think that the bgs are nice, but the same bold lines that are on the characters are being used, and it really flattens it out/makes the characters blend in. there's a few anatomy issues in here as well, but I mean I can't really say much else about this! very nicely done!

WOLCIK & LEFRED- Mr. Awesome is a surprisingly funny guy- who knew? I like how his demeanor and timing really give off a classic cartoon feel. Casino plays a satisfactory foil by being dry and deadpan. The prologue to the actual battle in the little video game was a really nice and lighthearted touch that was a clever idea on getting your opponents into your storyline. I do wish from pages 8-9 where Casino is getting chased you would've featured the dragon at least running into the store. He just seems to pop outta nowhere. I did like that Awesome despite his awesomeness took a backseat with Ivan to watch their warrior partners duke it out. The build up in Casino's transformation on page 11 was cool, but I felt lacked that final oomph where he's just standing there with his arm through a bad guy. I think it would've been more dynamic is we saw some movement in that action scene as it felt quite static as is. If anything I found the build up to the kiss much more dynamic, and not to mention hilarious! Totally unexpected. All in all a very enjoyable and impressively polished battle! You can really tell you two worked well together.

SHOJINTAKARU & JULZ- Dems some niiice backgrounds. Your establishing shot of the grocery store on the first page felt really sharp and well rendered, but for some reason I notice ( assuming the first page is done by Julz) that the additional elements shown are like an afterthought. It almost seems like you work heavily from reference on main elements and freehand the rest. Storywise, it carried the same elements from your opponents that I loved. Short, sweet and funny to read. Another amusing store romp with its own unique twist. Poor Ivan getting literally shaken down for pilfered chocolate was adorable and Nyasuu channeling the Matrix in her robo suit was a great way to swing the odds in her favor. The make out at the end, as mentioned by all the comments below, felt like a fantastic case of coincidence it just added the cherry on top of both your battles. This'll be tough to vote on!

Thanks for making this a tough call on us voters you guys!

This is the most commented on match so far and I agree with a lot of the comments already left. So I will just say I enjoyed both sides. I wasn't familiar with all the characters at first, but everything and everybody flowed and interacted pretty naturally and hilariously. Good work on both sides.

TEAM WOLCIK/LEFRED: This comic was a whole lot of fun. Love the lines, love the color. They fit well with the slightly rambling story, making this a fairly cohesive comic. There were a few problems with the forms and poses of the characters, and on page 12 there are two shots of characters in battle with their backs to the viewer (back-to-back back shots, as it were hurr hurr cough cough). As for plot, whenever Awesome gets involved, things tend to fishtale about, which hurt the comic a bit (but not by much). I understand this was meant to be a mix of comedy and ultra gore violence. I did enjoy the surprise ending. MANLOVE CONQUERS ALL ONCE AGAIN! Good show, chaps.

TEAM SHOJINTAKARU/JULZ: I'll say right off the bat I'm still not a fan of the super thick lines. But the expresivness of the characters make up for it. Something to work on. I love the simple madcap insanity of the story, and I laughed out loud at multiple times (the ARM WRESTLE shot, the little detail of Nyasuu holding her face as she rockets through the wall, and the ESSENCE OF ROBERT DOWNEY JR. potion).

First, these were two very complete and well crafted stories.  Definitely both were fun to read and really enjoyable.

Wolcik/Lefred: The technical side and the writing side were both very well done and the characters fit their personalities very well.  You guys were able to successfully integrate references to the characters' backstories without being confusing (Awesome's VCPD involvement and Casino's weird demon problem).  I think on the technical side I most enjoyed the character's faces though at times it feels like they get a little 'wobbly' when viewed from different angles.  And speaking of angles, it's indeed always wise to switch up perspective for interesting and dynamic comics but there are many times it feels forced or rushed and the perspective suffers a bit for it.  I understand with a time limit like this stuff happens but it's something to watch out for. It's especially obvious when it's revealed Awesome crashed through the roof, as the angle it's at, Awesome's butt is probably elevated at an awkward angle.

I also usually don't like muddy palettes and shading but I think it worked well for the nighttime scenes at the beginning.  Clearing it up for subsequent pages was also a smart move but maybe because of whatever medium you're using, whatever shading there is is too light, almost nonexistent.  And one other thing that bothered me is that when the fire was started, we saw a return of the muddy shading but it wasn't as appropriate here.  Since it's a brighter light source I would have liked to see much brighter colors.

One more point, page 13, I feel like the middle panel isn't super clear.  Upon reviewing it, I realize now that Awesome has basically slaughtered all the demons at super speed but perhaps we needed something more to clarify it.  Like afterimages or extra panels revealing that blows were given....something.

Otherwise, this was an excellent comic and you guys work surprisingly well together.

shojintakaru/Julz: Lots of expressive movement and personality.  'Luck of the nya' seems like an excellent catchphrase haha.  Anatomy was generally good for being stylized but there is obviously some lack of experience when it comes to drawing the full muscled male form.  Mr. Awesome' shape was at times inconsistent and his size was not always to proportion when compared to other characters.  I enjoy seeing people use line width to their advantage but I feel as if it is too thick at times in this comic.  Obviously you took measures to separate characters from the background and it works well, there is never a problem there and there is enough detail to make the backgrounds feel full and real.

The jokes were fun and the interactions worked very well.  Excellent job you guys.

Awesome/Casino is my new OTP. Both sides knew how to cater to my tastes. Solid work from both sides, but Wolcik/Fred got me with their humour.

Wow the similarities are uncanny.

Wolick/lefred - Story-wise I think you two won. The whole thing unraveled the only way it could with these characters. funny and exciting. two thumbs up.

shojintakaru/Julz - I see the insanity you guys put into this and it worked.I had a good laugh reading your comic. BUT! I feel like you could have used a nice grounded ending to tie thing together to get me excited for round 2. I dunno, maybe some sort closure other than an odd situation to walk in on. Other then that small nitpick I really enjoyed your comic. :D

everything ends with Awesome and Casino making out! XD XD this is so perfect I am just DYING over here oh my god I cant breathe
Wolcik and LeFred that was a seriously great comic! I love the humor and the art was great! The video game battle was really clever!my only very nitpicky critiques are the night-to-day transistion being sort of sudden and a couple of sketchy backgrounds, other than that I loved it!
Julz and shojin omg you always crack me up. essence of Robert Downy Jr? ALL OF THE AWARDS. The art was great, I liked all the bright colours and action. I don't even know what bad things to say, I pretty much voted everyone even XD great comics! Love them!

LeFred and Wolcik: This was charming and hilarious. I love the play on how crazy Mr Awesome is. I didn't get a really strong feel for the other characters, but it was still a really fun read and very funny all the way through.

shojin and Julz: The very first page made me laugh out loud with the jokes in the background. The aisle names are just genius. The attention to detail in this comic is fabulous and beautiful. I love the posing on the bottom of page 3. This was totally hilarious and I loved it. Especially... just... everything. My only nitpick is that the backgrounds got a little sketchier on some of the pages, but I can deal with that. Beautiful battle.

Also, I love how both comics ended with homosexuality. I guess it's canon now!

shojintakaru: !Problem: Hey, I was replacing one of the pages with a new version.  It replaced it just fine, but it also created a repeat of that page right after that.  I was wondering if there's a way to get rid of the repeated page.  Page I replaced is page 6, it's duplicate is page 7.

Is there a normal page 7? If you just have page 6 two times in a row and then it skips to page 8, you can re-upload page 7. Otherwise... I'm not quite sure.
