Whoo man it's been awhile since I've been here on VOID. xD

Cherubas: Hahaha! I've always loved how you did your comics and I'm surprised that you didn't really color this one! But you did color Sketchy's speech bubble and that's nifty. :3 I was really taken by the major appearance you did with Ivan, wewt! And of course more happiness for adding others in there! xD Hope to see more from you even though you didn't win this one. :3

Dan: As usual, you continue to impress me so much with your works. *watchesyouonDA* I loved how you drew Boek, it's like almost perfect, almost. xD I myself forgot about his missing tooth. lawl lawl! How come every comics the ending always makes me smile? I guess it's just how we artists roll along. c: I was intrigued the fact that you actually didn't color in Sketchy's speech bubble like you usually do. xDD But that's ok since you've done much justice to this battle.

You two did a awsome job and keep up the awsome work! *sickly flees away*

Thanks for the comments, everyone. It's good to see a trend in the suggestions. This way it's much more clear for me where I need to improve. Fewer words and more detail in the backgrounds seem to be what I really need to focus on. I will try to streamline the conversation a bit more and look at the background with equal importance to the characters, rather than just a finishing touch.

I want to thank Dan for representing Boek so flawlessly. This was a lot of fun to read (dampened only by the instant realization afterward that this match would be kind of one-sided). Of all of my Boek comics, this was the one with the fewest teleports, while, ironically, Dan's issue had the most instances of it to date. Coincidence? Probably. But in my quest to improve, if someone told me that teleport spam was the secret to keeping Boek likable, I'd hop on it. I'm always looking to improve, so it's good to hear that it's coming around, even if only slowly.

I decided to leave out Sketchy's colored bubbles unless everything else is colored as I received a few suggestions about it.  It's a fair assessment, makes everything look more unified.  So yeah, lest it all is colored, the bubbles shall not be from now on.

@ Cherubas: OMG I got so excited seeing Ivan in your comic (I especially like his first appearance, I liked his expression very much) and it's great kick off comic for our Junior Crusaders gang. I loved the references to characters and as always your jokes/puns are funny.  It's a shame that your comic suffered greatly from being too wordy and text heavy.  I also like the splash page where Boek is emerging from the paper.  Keep working on backgrounds too and keep up the good work.

@ Dan: Your work seeing it finished, is really awesome.  The interaction between both the characters was great, Sketchy emerging from the newspaper was really cool.  I noticed that this time around you didn't do the orange speech bubbles this time, it's nice, did you try it as an experiment to see if you liked it or will this be a permanent thing?  I look forward to seeing what you'll do next.

The high quality of Dan's work shines through once more in this very entertaining and very well constructed entry. Sketchy is always amusing to observe and is quite an interesting character in the tourney as a whole. While the humour and dynamism present in all of Sketchy's comics was fantastic as ever, I think i should mention that one of my favourite things about Sketchy's appearances has been the facial expressions, oh man are they ever awesome. Well done once again, Dan :)

Cherubas, holy crap, man. This is a vast improvement on your previous work in many, MANY ways. Though i feel that a major weak point in this entry was the beginning (very wordy and kinda slow to begin), it more than makes up for that in the sheer creativity expressed in your storyline. I never would have thought of approaching the character of Sketchy in such a way; using the 4th-wall breaking nature of Sketchy to the effect and for the means in which you did, is nothing short of genius. I was very impressed by what you did, story-wise. I also feel like you've shown some definite improvement in your art as well as your panel arrangement and sense of pacing, even with the aforementioned slow beginning. One of my favourite parts of the comic is page 11, very impacting and very well drawn.

Overall, though Sketchy has been one of my favourites in the tourney thus far, Cherubus' contribution to this battle really won me over with it's interesting take on the character of Sketchy and the creativity of the story presented. My vote goes to Boek this time.

Cherubas - You nailed the character, in my eyes.  I had never considered what Sketchy might do being drawn by another artist, but yeah, probably would go something like this.  I'm just a geek for breaking the 4th wall...

Your artwork did feel a bit rushed in spots, but you did also have a lot of ground to cover.  Maybe try to slow down and spend a little more time on those action shots.  In some of the action panels, one of the characters is hidden.  Especially on the impact of hits, open those panels up!  Either use a bigger panel, or pull the shot out so we can see both sides of the fight!

But overall, I really, really enjoyed this match!  Really looking forward to where you go from here!

I'm glad it was entertaining at least. It was really dark, yeah, it was meant to be but I didn't accomplish it quite how I wanted to. Sketchy was supposed to be acting intentionally uncharacteristically sadistic to sabotage the comic (which... Did work out. Oh Sketchy, you sly devil), and that's why he doesn't really get "creepy" until he realizes he's not in Dan's comic, but due to time constraints there were a few plot clarifying elements I didn't get to throw in there. Ah well. I've learned my lesson. From now on Boek will stick to slipping on banana peels and taking pies to the face. I'm going to try to keep my audience in a happy place and drastically tone down the violence. This whole experience (being a part of this website I mean) is about learning what does work and what doesn't, so it's an ever-changing process for me. If you're patient enough I'll learn to make comics that really shine sooner or later. XD

Cherubas, nice, but it seemed just a bit overplayed for me this time. Also, there are several times where I felt the heads didnt belong to the body (not only talking about sketchy here)
But I LOVED when sketchy started talking to you. Way awesome thinking.

Beard, first off, Warbeast is MINE now! D:<
okay, that aside, great comic. Only thing that bothered me sometimes was the expressions; they're great, but sometimes too much makes them feel unnatural.

Good show guys!

Aaaargh both of these battles were insanely creative. I really loved both representations of Sketchy, although Cherubas' was just a little bit on the creepy side (killing children and whatnot). Beard, your characters look as fantastic as ever, and your environments are getting really good, too. Cherubas, I think you made the same mistake I've made, and that's putting too many words in a single balloon. There were points where they came dangerously close to becoming walls of text- be careful to spread out the speeches a bit. I'm really looking forward to battling both of you in the future!
