I really enjoyed both of these.

@ledes87: I like your ink work, as others have said though, it still needs some work here and there. Your character is a very likable one, his design is cool and his story seems interesting so far. nice job man, this is a very nice first battle from you. :D

@Dustin: great work also, the colors looked nice. The story was pretty cute; I liked it :3

Ledes-Cool plot and pace. I think using guidelines could really help your anatomy a lot. Love the amount of detail and creative shots and perspectives. Some pictures I couldn't quite make out, like when he eats the mushroom. Often for me, his face was hard to see clearly. Love the ghost's "muscles"! 8D

Dustin-BWAHAHAHAH! That was great! Nice use of textures, clean lines, and control of anatomy. I’d like to see more straight lines and detail in the BGs, though the simplistic BGs are nice too. I think you need to work on clothes folds (especially evident in title page) but I love your style, creativity, perspective work and funny expressions.

Yes, maybe I made it too warrior to koshi, sorry! As for your design of my characters, it remained funny enough, you could interpret well Bako's personality and the color of hair is spectacular. The dragoon did not seem to be to me necessary still, besides he does what wants... Thank you for the commentaries!

PD: Thanks Phillip and ArtisticEnigma!

thanks you two for the critiques. i wasnt sure if it was too short or not before posting it, but you guys reaffirmed that for me. probably a page between 5-6 of samurai jack-ish slowmo would have done the trick.
i just didnt want to fall into the trap of too many pages like my first battle.
oh well, on to the next battle i go!

ledes, great comic and great action scenes. however my only comment is how you made koshi, he looked like him of course, but he did some things that werent in my description of him (i.e. not being cut by the sword, and fighting hand to hand.)
But on the other hand, how did i handle your characters? i feel like i missed some details on Huesitos, he's so complicated! @_@ also, how was my design of Bako? I think you need to do a design sheet of him since he seems to be an important character. I think the aqua hair suits him though. ^_^
lastly, where is his awesome dragon?! :(

great battle man, thanks for taking my challenge! :D

I'm with everyone else so far. Ledes comic had intense inking, but it was very cluttered and difficult to distinguish things at times...I do feel a little more character action reaction could have been done between the two fighters, but other than that it worked.

Dustin know you were busy, funny good ending...just felt done way too quickly. Other than that good coloring on pages 4 on....iffy on pages 1-3...seem a bit rushed in comparison. Good job to both fighters!!

Not bad

Ledes87: Pretty good comic, I'm a sucker for lots of inking, but some things just got a bit too cluttered and hard to make out. The story here however was kinda meh... seems way too easy to have character A fight character B in the first battle on void, but everybody does it when they first join so I can't harp on that too much.

Dustin: Also a good comic, without the colors however this comic would be pretty empty to me. The expressions are fine to me, although I could make a joke or two about that expression on page 4. The story here I felt was also kinda meh, I did like how you showed Huesitos emerging from his world and riding the dragon, but I think the joke at the end could of used some build up. I say this because the dog going rabid and grabbing the bone seemed to happen all too suddenly. It was only at the end of the comic when I said "OH! Dog and a bone shaped object... I feel dumb now." Perhaps you could of had a page where one of the dogs notices the bone at the end of the weapon to set things up better.

Overall pretty good comics, pretty even vote but I'm giving a slight point to Ledes87.

Thanks to all for the commentaries, I will try to put more work in the tones, in the variability of the line and the blacks.

Ledes: Like everyone else said, your inking is good, but it could be better since it's hard to define what was what. That just means you've got lots of potential to knock us out with your inking! Also, you had pretty good backgrounds, but on page 8 they were mostly all white so it felt sort of empty. Otherwise, good entry and nice to see a good full 12 pages of reading. *_*

Dustin: Hee, puppies. <3 Good solid coloring and overall just very gosh darn good.

ledes:  I like your drawing a lot, but it can be pretty hard to tell what's going on sometimes.  I'd suggest varying your line thicknesses more when you want to emphasize one thing over another in certain panels and also to increase contrast among different elements.  You might also want to consider using some gray tones for contrast and shading.  Zippotone, ink wash, markers, digital, whatever...
I so should've read the character profile before the comic..but the comic did make more sense after I read the profile.
All in all, I'd say the story telling's pretty solid.  The art just needs more contrast and separation among the different elements so readers have an easier time of seeing what's going on.

Dustin:  Really nice.  Love the drawings and the coloring.  Some really solid story telling too.  I am humbled by your dog and dragon drawing abilities.  Having an issue or two drawing my character's canine companion for the intro comic.  Nice stuff.

Ledes:  I think you have really good skill at drawing I think where this comic failed for me was in the spotting of your blacks.  They were kind of all over the place and didn't seem to have a rhythm or balance which made your comic kind of a mind fuck to read. I see there is a lot of potential there...if you control the reader with where you have dark and light areas youre well on your way to perfect comics.

Dustin: Awesome awesome awesome.  I don't particularly care for some of the manga/anime cliches (like Pg4 Pn1...that face has laways irritated the fucknuts outta me) but too be honest that didnt deter me from giving you perfect marks...I enjoyed this comic the whole way through your line work is top notch, your coloring is inventive your pacing and control of action is great.  I hope to see more from you...
