VOID Characters and Comics / Re: Challenges Thread
« on: Jan 29, 2020, 11:31 AM »

Pudding's willing to push someone down and call them a bitch for about 1/2 weeks. Dr. Fabulous is also open as an alternative choice. Top priority will be given to the losers participants of the SDT that will not progress to the 2nd round and would like a final hurrah for their Barbie® doll before October happens or someone who's new and never had a battle before. I can't start until early next week (probably the 3rd) but I'll post this and open challenge in case you need time to mull over the life choices that led you to this point.

EDIT: Actually, one more option on the table. If anyone with a dead character would like to do an Annihilation match, I'm keen for that.

Someone fight me before I realize what a terrible idea it is.  I'll do whatever, just needs to be quick with a quick deadline. You can see all my boy's options in the open challenge box. Retribution is alright if that's still happening, I can play both sides. Annihilation, if you're an adult.

You have until Monday before I decide to do something else.

Unfortunately, I'm rethinking this proposition. This is time I need to spend on other projects. I'm gonna have to be out!

Anyone want to fight Pudding for a week? Willing to hear counter-offers.

Probably want like 3 pages maybe.

Maybe scar match?

And coming around the corner, it's RoflQu with what is surely the most hated character of the SDT...

Pudding Washington is great amazing. He's not your run-of-the-mill student at St. Agnes School for the Superb. He's the student. He is top dog, excelling at using his powers and reaching the tip-top of his class. No one dares cross Pudding Washington, he's not just a the pretty face he appears to be. He's the bully, he's the cool guy. Women love him, men love him, and he loves himself. Super strong, super cool, super smart, is there anything Pudding can't do? Nope! And that is a very good thing indeed, because his upcoming finals are said to be the toughest ever dealt out in the history of St. Agnes School for the Superb. He's just gotta make it to junior year! However, tough exams or not, its no problem for Mr. Washington, the best BEST student in school Void City THE WORLD.

Pudding is able to blast off like a rocket. No part of his body is off-limits, he shoots them with ease! He's a whiz with his powers and nothing can stop him! His genius intellect makes combat tactics a no-brainer! His charisma is legendary and irritable irresistible! Such a wide variety at his disposal guarantees these exams to be a breeze and he's ready to yawn this tournament off. Shudder in awe at Pudding Washington, the foot that'll be smearing you on the pavement!

Assuming I got time to join (and wanna use him), that is.

THE INCUBATOR / Re: Man Meat

I really like this design. Your comics are pretty great, so not worried on that front.

I hope you keep his submission name as Man Meat.

Curious on how you would make an entire comic like that - especially how would you depict your opponent properly?

I'm working on that. I did a test of Cutie Mark.

Wouldn't be the first time we had photo collage. I hope you can do a comic out of it.

Some fun old Dr. Fabulous art that I have had for a while and found suitable frames for! I'm super into them and while you guys probably have no idea who they are, but these are from Spinzoa (who did Sergio Pancrazio) and AVT (who did Jack and Sleeping Boar). Glad to finally have them set up.

I think the drop down for the Comics page should read either just Comics or Current Comics instead of All Comics. I hit it on reaction when I'm actually just wanting the Archives, which is what I expect All Comics will take me to when I click the button.

Nice to see you returned. You've got a cute character and you've got alright panels and set up for your comic, and your comic looks alright for that matter. However, there's a few things that stand out to me that you could do to improve it.

Mostly looking at your comic, I noticed a lack of backgrounds for the most part. Even our train interior is a little simplistic and without any flourishes. I think you could do with maybe looking at some interior shots of a train and adding those in to comic? Your pacing feels alright, but she's mostly sitting in an empty void without anything but the chair she's sitting on If I didn't have that first panel of the train, I wouldn't know where she is at all based on the rest of the comic.

Without some establishing shots inside of the train like this or this, I don't really know the status of the train. These little background clues could tell a lot about her, too. Little things like that could help a lot! So, maybe give us some page or panel with the train moving towards the city so we can see the city being drawn and/or a shot of the train interior itself.

The other part is also kind of important to note, but that pink in your font is super light, I can barely read it. I think plain black would work just fine, we're not going to get confused as to who is talking in this comic or in general. If you do want to keep the pink, I would say make it the background of those text boxes and keep the font black. I would also thicken your speech bubbles a bit so they're not so whisper thin. I'd also try to put some anti-aliasing on them so they're not so pixelated?

All in all, this is a really solid looking set up and as long as you keep at this, you'll do just fine here. Nice work so far! Love the character!

Very glad to see Sally made such an impact on everyone. Doesn't change the whole dead part, but I can always try for the next SRT! Thanks again!

RoflQu with Cruz

Cruz is a piñata, While not the kind you find in the party store, Cruz is a living piñata. His kind have existed much as they do for centuries within the Sierra Madre Occidental. Naturally reclusive, they had shied away from humans for obvious reasons. Cruz lived in peace with his family much as he always had, farming the land, collecting water from the rivers, and maintaining a comfortable existence.

Until that day, his home was ransacked and attacked by a small militia force. Piñata of all ages were torn from their homes. The village burned and broken, the humans left nothing for Cruz but a massacre. Candy littered the streets and the river ran rainbow with gumdrops. Those that weren’t slaughtered in cold blood were chained and locked away, taken from their homes.

Cruz was one of a handful who somehow escaped being taken by the militia. His family taken, his home destroyed, Cruz deviated from his village’s goal of healing and swore revenge. He began his pursuit of the monsters that tainted paradise and won’t rest until he eats the heart of every last one.
Like all piñatas, Cruz is full of candy. If cut, he will not bleed blood, but candy.  Life in the mountains has granted him both incredible strength and dexterity. He is able to masterfully wield his club with a precision and grace that is unexpected for such a weapon. He’s also extremely fast for such a large target.

And here's the old art, circa 2009!
