marley is a boob and made me do one....

ahem...

JAMES WARSAW

PHYSIOLOGY
1. Sex/Gender: Male.
2. Age: 24.
3. Height/Weight: 6'2"/155 lbs.
4. Color of Hair/Eyes/Skin: Originally black with fading bleach blonde overtop. Blue eyes, pale white skin.
5. Posture: Almost always slouching.
6. Appearance: Underweight but still kind of muscular, sharp lined good looking face, constantly filthy, smells a bit musty, revolver tattoo on his upper right arm.
7. Defects: His left eye is always more closed than the other one due to a fight he had growing up. Heart surgery scar down the middle of his chest, gunshot scar on his left abdomen, and a reconstructed right knee cap.
8. Heredity: Takes after his father, for the most part. Has his mothers hair.

SOCIOLOGY

1. Social Class: Technically upper. Has enough money to buy the entire city but prefers to live in the pit of it.
2. Occupation: Was mayor for a period of time, but quickly became bored with it. If he wasn't independently wealthy, he'd most likely be robbing banks.
3. Education: Dropped out of private school at 16, low marks across the board, though excelled at language studies when he attended. Hates math.
4. Home Life: Both parents missing, presumed dead. Father (James Warsaw Sr) ran WARSAWCO and was barely around. Mother (Vivianne Warsaw) was a stay-at-home mom who still was barely around. James Sr was addicted to a substance nicknamed 'Red Eye' which nullifies sleep and drastically increases your focus. Named Red Eye because it also makes your eyes sporadically bleed. Both very neglectful parents, but at the core, good people.
5. Race: British/Irish
6. Religion and/or Nationality: Atheist/British
7. Place in Community: Being the former mayor, James is looked at as a leader, but he has more interest in himself and attaining a level of infamy among Void City than anyone else.
8. Political affiliations: None unless he makes one himself.
9. Amusements/Hobbies: Likes old horror comics. Is fanatical about 70's punk, and also loves reggae. Collects vintage LP's and giant monster movies. Sex.
10. Time Period/Era: Semi-futuristic hard-boiled science fiction gritty city. Anything you want you can get if you know the right people. James thrives off of this environment, using bravado and guff to get what he needs from people. The government runs the show, but James used to run the government so he's on top of everything.

PSYCHOLOGY

1. Moral Standards: Even though he is a vicious bastard, James believes wholeheartedly in friends. Very loyal to a small sect of people, and a complete cunt to everyone else.
2. Personal Premise/Ambition: James has attained most of the things that have come to his mind, and now just wants to go on with his life with Ayumi. The last thing he wants is to start a war with his brother.
3. Frustrations: Family.
4. Temperament: Explosive, any one thing can set him off. A bit of a pessimist, but if you are in his circle of friends he is very easy going.
5. Attitude toward Life: Very into living in the now. Almost inhuman in his ambition to get what he wants.
6. Complexes: Sometimes too ambitious, biting off more than he can chew. When it comes to his family he always clams up and blocks it out.
7. Extrovert? Introvert? Ambivert?: Extrovert.
8. Abilities: Not many people know this, but James has an uncanny knack for learning languages. He is said to know at least 8, human dialects and not so human.
9. Qualities: Very imaginative. When you're a guy with no powers in Void, you have to be great at improvising.
10. IQ: Never bothered to take the test. Not very 'book-smart' but is very 'street-smart'.
11. Time Period/Era: This question is retarded and has already been asked!!

After the small debate on IQ, I did a scan of the entire interwebz and discovered...!!!

...that I'm a certified genius!! And that I was previously somewhat wrong about the numbers and averages. The STANDARD average IQ is 100. I thought it was done in ranges like is done on apt. tests, with something like 80-100 being average, making somewhere around 90 the standard. Anyway, whatever.

Most of the websites I checked seemed to be consistent with their information, measurements only deviating from one another by a point or two. Once someone reaches 120, then they are pretty much unlimited in their capacity to learn, and anything beyond is obviously much better.

http://www.audiblox.com/iq_scores.htm  This site is simple and easy to understand.

If I remember correctly, only children can IQs well over 200, and as far as I know, there was no mention of "eccentricities" in people with vast processing power.

Hope this helps.

Magical Girl Mindy (Mindy White)

PHYSIOLOGY

1. Sex/Gender
Female
2. Age
11
3. Height/Weight
4' 8" / 79 lbs
4. Color of Hair/Eyes/Skin
Light brown hair with emerald eyes; white but not pale or tanned.
5. Posture
Straight and full of energy.
6. Appearance
A cute, energetic 11 year old girl, she's proper weight, she's very clean and neat, she's decievingly cute and bright, her face is round and her body normal for an 11 year old girl.
7. Defects
She has a small scar next to her hairline on the right side from when she tripped and hit her head on a desk. And, not so much a defect, but she's incredibly klutzy.
8. Heredity
She looks just like her mother, but she doesn't have any other traits from her parents.

SOCIOLOGY

1. Social Class
She was upper class before her parents died, now she's more of middle class.
2. Occupation
She works for the government. She's always on call as an agent for whatever mission they may happen to need her for. She loves her work, she's easily manipulated by them and she thinks she's helping save the earth. She's good at what she does (which is normally combat). She gets weekly checks and shipments of candy from the government as payment; it comes out of the black ops budget.
3. Education
She went through normal school until age 11, when she transfered to the Rainbow Bread Institute after her parents died and she became a "Magical Girl." She's a B student.
4. Home Life
Her parents died recently in a car crash, shortly after she obtained her power as a "Magical Girl." The government picked her up immediately and recruited her. They moved her to Void city and enrolled her in the Rainbow Bread Institute-- she lives in the dorms with some other students her age. She thinks boys are yucky.
5. Race
A mutt of western european races; would be considered simply American.
6. Religion and/or Nationality
She doesn't think about it, if she was asked she'd probably answer something like "All you need is love!" She's American.
7. Place in Community
She's rather popular in school thanks to her Magical Girl abilities, which are a huge hit among kids and fellow students her age and younger; even some of those older.
8. Political affiliations.
Doesn't think about that either; whatever the people in the black ops branches are that talk to her.
9. Amusements/Hobbies
She likes reading shojo manga and watching Magical Girl type series on tv. She LOVES candy. Cooking it, and especially eating it. Other than that she loves her job.
10. Time Period/Era
She lives in modern type dirty city called Void. It's filled with freaks and advanced technology which she has to deal with on her job.

PSYCHOLOGY

1. Moral Standards

She loves being nice to people and is obsessed with the power of love and niceness. Even though she kills people she doesn't quite understand what it is and doesn't understand the consequences of her actions.
2. Personal Premise/Ambition
She wants to become a famous magical girl and save the world.
3. Frustrations
She hates meanies and when she messes up a mission and doesn't get her government payed for candy. Also, being treated like a little kid and not getting her way (occassionally).
4. Temperament
She's optimistic and very naive. However, her nice, bubbly personality will flip flop to complete rage or jealousy at the slightest notice; she's VERY moody.
5. Attitude toward Life
She believes in love and helping people, and that's all there is.
6. Complexes
She's afraid of bugs. As part of denial of her parent's deaths, and the government telling her killing's ok, or that she didn't even kill people, she practically ignores death altogether as if it didn't exist. She's also absent minded and has a poor memory.
7. Extrovert? Introvert? Ambivert?
Extrovert, everything's very dramatic to her.
8. Abilities
She wields the "Magic Love Wand" and the powers of love and cutesy-ness within it. She can also cook well. The powers fluctuate with her mood though; good mood = cutesy, nice powers, bad mood = decievingly cute powers with violent effects
9. Qualities
She's a bad judge of character due to her naivety and government brainwashing. She loves cute things but hates really anything that's not.
10. IQ
Very average.
11. Time Period/Era

She's always thinking of how to help people and do good things in the future; she ignores anything bad that happened in the past.

There's a preview of the second character I want to enter, Magical Girl Mindy.

TOAST

PHYSIOLOGY

1. Sex/Gender - Male
2. Age - ageless, though looks young-mid 20s
3. Height/Weight - 5'11" 150 lbs
4. Color of Hair/Eyes/Skin - Blonde hair, blue eyes, slightly tan
5. Posture - Generally proper, but relaxed while in public.
6. Appearance - average looks, short hair that's constantly unkempt, always clean shaven.  Usually seen in dress pants and an untucked dress shirt or "business casual" attire.  Slightly underweight for his height, but toned muscularly.  Oval face, thin features.
7. Defects - Can't remember anything from more than a few years ago.
8. Heredity - None.  Toast wasn't born

SOCIOLOGY

1. Social Class - Toast possess no money yet he lives in his own skyscraper.  Only the lobby and his penthouse are furnished, but done so in tasteful minimalism.
2. Occupation - corrector of reality.  Works at all hours, for days on end, fixing space-time disturbances as they occur.  He is uniquely suited for this job, as he doesn't breathe, cannot be harmed, and rarely sleeps.  Mentally and emotionally aligned to crave work and abhor idleness.  Simultaneously trying to discover the unknown about himself and the world in general.
3. Education - None.
4. Home Life - Works almost without stop.  Doesn't need to sleep or eat, but will do so on occasion.  Tirelessly searching for knowledge and correcting problems caused by VOID City's existence.  Single, hasn't dated in decades.
5. Race - Unknown.  Looks human.
6. Religion and/or Nationality - No nationality, and isn't sure what he believes for a religion.  Not quite Agnostic, simply Undecided.
7. Place in Community - Urban Legend.  Most of society doesn't know he exists, some know he does, but he's largely regarded as a myth.  While out in the world he makes an effort to blend in and go unnoticed, but if he's working he possesses a command presence that causes others to immediately trust him and follow his lead.  He views himself as outside of the world, an observer, but not participant.  This further plays out by his desire not to interfere in what he sees as the natural course of people's lives.  He only steps in when things have gone far beyond the means of any individual or group to deal with, but will not share his knowledge with others for fear of adverse effects.
8. Political affiliations - No affiliations, though he has anarchist and libertarian tendencies.  Thinks society working together can take care of themselves without government or oversight.
9. Amusements/Hobbies - He's building Madeline an android form (without using his powers).  Sleep is as near an amusement as it gets for Toast.  Sleep is Toast's only opportunity to stop the constant stream of information into his head.  He's automatically alerted to any event that requires his attention, as well as many that have the potential to escalate to that point.  Much of it never needs his intervention, but sleep is Toast's only chance to temporarily sever that tie and quiet his brain.  He also sleeps in an attempt to understand his recurring dreams, and learn something from them.
10. Time Period/Era - Slightly futuristic Earth.  Alien technology, magic, anthropoids, super humans, even aspects of ancient history all co-exist.

PSYCHOLOGY

1. Moral Standards - Lives by his own moral code which is sometimes hypocritical and contradictory.  He won't lift a finger to stop a burning building, but will save everyone inside and restore the building if it were transported to another reality.
2. Personal Premise/Ambition - To learn of his past, and set up a system to automatically deal with/prevent many or all events requiring his intervention.  If he's able to set up such a system, he'd be able to follow his own free will - something he's never been able to fully explore.
3. Frustrations - the unknown, his own past in particular
4. Temperament - bit of a pessimist about the short-term, but he takes a long view to most things and overall thinks everything will work out for the best.  Level-headed and analytical at almost all times, it's difficult to surprise or anger him.  Can be similarly difficult to make him happy.
5. Attitude toward Life - Sees his life as servitude to the citizens of VOID City, dealing with what no one else can.  Occasionally overwhelmed, he's largely happy with his role and he's glad he's the one doing it and no one else is burdened with the task.  He values life and free choice above all else, but sees ordinary humans as essentially insects and sometimes treats them as such.
6. Complexes - emotionally distant.  He strongly dislikes anyone that doesn't take an active role in their own life.
7. Extrovert? Introvert? Ambivert? - Toast cares deeply about society in general, but very little about most individuals.  He has a few acquaintances, but no friends, preferring instead to do his work in solitude.
8. Abilities - He possesses the ability to update reality around him.  Generally used to "put things back the way they were/should be" after a catastrophic event.  He can't create something from nothing, but he can change anything into something else.  Toast doesn't age, requires oxygen, food, or sleep - he is a complete self-maintaining being.
9. Qualities - Emotional detachment and nearly all-knowing makes him tactless most of the time, but with good judgement.
10. IQ - Indeterminable.  Has instantaneous access to almost any information, including past, present, and some future events.
11. Time Period/Era - The present is never satisfactory for Toast.  He's always looking to the future (from technology to political viewpoints and everything in between), and wondering how others can't see what's obvious to him.
DJ Neko: Thank you entervoid, you're like the abusive husband I keep coming back to. <3

Mooo in three dimensions

PHYSIOLOGY
1. Sex/Gender- Male

2. Age- 22

3. Height/Weight- 6'1", 225 lbs

4. Color of Hair/Eyes/Skin- Black/Brown/Slightly Tanned

5. Posture- Straight

6. Appearance (Good-looking, over/underweight, clean, neat, pleasant, untidy; shape of face/head/limbs)- Mooo has what can be described in cliche terms as "boyish good looks."Â  His rounded, friendly face is less like a model's and more like "that nice guy who lives down the way and will help you carry your groceries in while trying really hard not to make it look like he's glancing at your cleavage every now and then."

7. Defects (deformities, abnormalities, birthmarks, diseases)- None.  He had chicken
pox as a kid, but that's about it.

8. Heredity (inherited traits from character's family)- Being of Mongolian descent, Mooo is BIG for an Asian guy.  His long black hair and broad shoulders run in his family, even if his mother was only half his size.

SOCIOLOGY

1. Social Class (lower, middle, upper)- Lower-middle class.  Mooo grew up living out in the country with his parents, and later just his mother.  He was home-schooled and spent most of his time working around the house and training in Royal Guard, which both his parents had Master's Marks in, a Master's Mark being the highest station possible for a Royal Guard practitioner.

2. Occupation (Type of work, hours of work, income, condition of work, union or non-union, attitude towards organization, suitability for work)- Mooo has been working since he was fourteen years old, in odd jobs for quick cash and in actual employment positions since he was sixteen.  Mooo's respectful attitude and friendly personality make him a very good worker on his own or in a team, making him a very desirable employee for most organizations.

3. Education (amount, kind of schools, marks, favorite subjects, poorest subjects, aptitudes)- Mooo only has his high-school diploma from home-schooling, but is well-read from a strong emphasis on literature that his mother placed in the home-school program.  A fast reader and fast learner, Mooo places well in all academic subjects save music and drama--while he likes music and plays, Mooo is a poor performer and is not particularly good at playing instruments or singing.

4. Home Life (Parents living, earning power, orphan, parents separated or divorced, parents' habits, parents' mental development, parents' vices, neglect, character's marital status)- Growing up mostly in a single-parent environment, Mooo is used to having to deal with hardships.  Mooo's father left, explaining his reasons for leaving to his wife (to keep Mooo and her safe from someone that was hunting Royal Guard practitioners) but asking her not to tell Mooo.  Mooo grew up thinking of his father as abandoning them, and that feeling grew even stronger when Mooo's mother was brutally killed under mysterious circumstances at her place of work, a grocery store in a nearby town.  Now on his own, Mooo was forced to have to grow up fast, and turned to mafia-run pit-fighting as an extra source of income, in addition to working two full-time jobs.

5. Race- Mooo is of Mongolian descent, with traces of Chinese, Russian, and Scottish ancestry.

6. Religion and/or Nationality- None to speak of.  Mooo has never been religious in his life, but does not have any disrespect for religion itself.

7. Place in Community ('leader among friends', clubs, sports)- Mooo doesn't make himself known in his overall community, but among his friends he occasionally takes the lead, making himself usually their speaker, the one to suggest what to do and see what everyone else has to say.

8. Political affiliations.- If there's one thing Mooo has a distaste for, it's politics.  It was never a subject that particularly interested him, nor is it one that he has any desire to learn more about.

9. Amusements/Hobbies (books, newspapers, magazines he/she reads, etc.)- Mooo is versed in American and European literature, and has also read some classic East Asian literature as well.  He is also a big fan of nonfiction and (auto)biographical works.  His favorite books are "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and "The 48 Laws of Power."  Mooo's favorite hobby by far is watching action movies: his favorites by far are "Hard Target" and "Rocky IV."

10. Time Period/Era (social structure and how it pertains to your character)- Having been raised away from the city, one would think that Mooo would have a down-home, eccentric attitude, when in fact Mooo acts more like a city boy than one would expect.  When necessary, he will step forward and speak out, but most times prefers to blend into the crowd and keep the attention off him.

PSYCHOLOGY

1. Moral Standards- Mooo has a very strong sense of respect, mainly given to him by his mother, and tends not to give people attitude.  He's a nice guy, and it takes a lot to get him really riled up.  Mooo has a strong aversion to the idea of killing, even in the heat of battle, but believes that some things honestly cannot be helped.  While he himself will work his hardest to make sure his opponent lives, he is also not the type to chastise another for killing their opponent if the situation could not be reasonably avoided.  Mooo's sense of respect extends to how he treats women--his eyes will wander, his mind may temporarily think a few things that he probably shouldn't, but in the end, Mooo treats most females like "one of the guys," and keeps his usual demeanor around them.

2. Personal Premise/Ambition- Like most fighter-type characters, Mooo has the simple ambition of getting stronger, of getting better at what he does.  He's mainly driven by a need to show up his father, who Mooo holds animosity towards for leaving Mooo and his mother when Mooo was a child.  Staying with Mal, one of his father's old friends and a famous (infamous?) fighter conditioner, Mooo hopes to improve his fighting skills to the point where he can look his father in the eye and tell him that he was able to get stronger, even with others there who could "hold him back."  Mooo feels that he draws more strength from his friends and loved ones than on his own, and fights harder for their sake than he does for his own sake.

3. Frustrations- Being laid-back and rather easygoing, Mooo doesn't get frustrated or frazzled too easily.  However, minor repeated upsets do have a tendency to rile Mooo up more than he should be, and at times he will say things that come off as rude or belligerent when he doesn't really mean to say them.  In very difficult or stressful situations, Mooo tends to keep a cooler head than most, and tries his best to help others remain (or get) calm.  In a heated fight, Mooo will oftentimes lose his cool and become very impatient, his technique becoming sloppy as he rushes to try and finish the match.

4. Temperament (choleric, easygoing, pessimistic, optimistic, etc.)- Very relaxed and comfortable, Mooo speaks to most people in the same casual, friendly tone that shows that he treats most everybody as an equal.  Only when he's fighting does that change--Mooo in combat is by turns coldly efficient, fierce and unrelenting, and frustrated and sloppy.  Mooo is a model of customer service at the Diner, though, and receives great tips for his friendly and never-fake service.

5. Attitude toward Life (resigned, militant, defeatist, etc.)- "NO REAL GOALS."  That describes Mooo's attitude toward life quite easily.  Yes, he wants to find out who killed his mother years ago, why they killed his mother, and he wants to punch his father in the mouth for not being there, but Mooo realizes that despite the hardships he's had, he's still alive and his mother would rise from her grave and beat the living shit out of him if he thought that he could use his past as an excuse to become an angry, vengeance-driven shadow of his normal self.  Mooo feels he has a lot to live for--he has friends he cares about (and who in turn care about him) and he just wants to see where his life takes him.

6. Complexes (obesessions, inhibitions, superstitions, phobias, etc.)- Despite his acceptance of his situation, Mooo still feels a heavy guilt over not being there when his mother was killed, even though he knows that if he were there, he probably would have been killed as well.  The duality of that issue still picks at Mooo every now and then, which is why he's sensitive to jokes about his parents (i.e. "YOUR MOM") that normally wouldn't bother a person as laid-back as he is.

7. Extrovert? Introvert? Ambivert?- Mooo is an ambivert--while he can appear extroverted and friendly, at times Mooo will keep his mouth shut, hang back, and let events unfold before deciding to step forward--if he does at all.

8. Abilities (languages, talents)- Mooo does not speak any extra languages besides English--he knows scant bits of Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Farsi, Tagalog, Ilocano, Thai, and Vietnamese, but not nearly enough to even order a meal in most of those languages.  Mooo is an extremely gifted hand-to-hand fighter, a practitioner of the esoteric martial system Royal Guard, where he specializes in the use of punches.  While he specializes in punches, his training is still very well-rounded, and he is capable of using intelligently-placed kicks and grapples that are mixed in with his punches.  Approached several years ago by mysterious beings calling themselves "The Gods of 0wnage" (Mooo's naive enough to take a name that stupid at face-value), Mooo has been granted a unique gift: 100% of the potential of his body has been unleashed, granting him strength, durability, and reflexes well beyond normal human limits.

9. Qualities (imagination, judgement, taste, poise)- Mooo's imagination is nothing to write home about--his greatest fear is a gorilla with boxing gloves on.  However, he is possessed of a clever and quick mind, mainly due to his training.  His judgment is extremely developed, as a hand-to-hand fight is nothing more to him than a series of decisions that need to be made second-by-second as intelligently as possible.  However, when he makes a mistake, he tends to pay big for it, as it's often a good choice with bad timing borne of overconfidence, and less of actually making the wrong decision.  Mooo's tastes are simple and efficient--he dresses up for certain events in a button-up shirt and khaki slacks with dress shoes, but is often seen simply wearing a plain white t-shirt and the pants he made himself.  Mooo carries himself tall and proud, back straight and chest pushed out, even if his expression is often more meek than his posture.

10. IQ- Mooo only took a formal IQ test as a child, but that rated him at 140--the chances of it fluctuating are reasonably high.  Mooo is not a genius by any stretch of the imagination, but is a quick thinker capable of piecing together a situation and analyzing it with well-calculated logic.  Mooo doesn't have a very good long-term memory, and may at times forget people he hasn't seen for more than a few years.

11. Time Period/Era (periodic ways of thinking, and how it applies to your character) - Mooo is modern.  He likes his action movies, he likes his video games, he loves the microwave (even if Mal is weaning him away from it).  However, he holds to traditional values--respect your elders, respect everybody unless they disrespect you--and if they disrespect you, put up with it unless they're trying to kill you.

Dude, Toast. I totally understood all of that and got clear mental images of that stuff.

He looked nothing like you. And he was wearing a blue jumpsuit. Carrying a magic dust mop around.

5. Race: Italian/Japanese
6. Religion and/or Nationality: Raised Catholic/Japanese
7. Place in Community: She tries to keep to herself, but the longer she stays in Void- Galvo gets her more into the community. At one point she was a member of the CarpBombers. Currently she's been asked to join Void Cities 'White Jackets'- so she's rolling with that one day at a time.
8. Political affiliations: The former Mayor James Warshaw
9. Amusements/Hobbies: Watching her cat Lester tear up the neighbor's housing. Despite how she'd denie it, Lune enjoys watching Galvo sit and play video games at the Acade.

PSYCHOLOGY

1. Moral Standards: Lune may seem like she doesn't care most of the time, but she believes in friendship and peace. It's hard to believe she's into fighting.

3. Frustrations: The constant challenges she recieves in her mail. She just has no time to take them up!
4. Temperament: Friendly. However- to those who don't know her- she can come off as a total bitch! When she's anger, she very often loses her temper and get very emotional.
5. Attitude toward Life: Living life however it comes at her- though it can be hard at times
6. Complexes: Very often leans towards being a Loner.
7. Extrovert? Introvert? Ambivert?: Ambivert
8. Abilities: Her strength is a bit more powerful then a normal female. Nothing too drastic. Along with her ability to control water molecules- her sight and hearing are very advanced.
9. Qualities: Very Loyal and good at reading people's emotions.
10. IQ: Not emensely book smart. Average per say.
11. Time Period/Era: This question is dumb and was asked already!!

UGH. That took longer then I thought.

It seems I must elaborate even MORE on the Time Period/Era questions, since a lot of people are confused and/or skip over it, which makes me sad. =|

Time Period/Era in SOCIOLOGY refers to how the society your character is in has ANY effect on how they stand in society. Granted, every character in this thread will default to '21st Century America', you can use this space to describe HOW being in 21st century America affects who they are in society. A good example is that if you are a furry, being in Void City means you're outcasted and scorned; if your character exists in 19th century Texas, there's a good chance he won't be all honkey-dorey with everyone around him if he was black.

Suggestions: Think about the current state of Void City. Think about how the environment and the society itself affects how he/she gets by in the environment.

Time Period/Era in PSYCHOLOGY refers to how the current society affects your character's way of thinking. Again, given the Void City scenario, we default automatically to '21st century America', which can be interpreted openly, allowing one to easily glance over it and slap down anything they want. But the trick is to think deeper than that; think about what goes ON in 21st century America that could change your character's point of view; political propaganda, pop culture and media, etc.. Again, in the case of Void City, there's the Cullmination; where does your character stand on that issue? Are you like Romero, who -like the rest of the police and populace- despise the furries and wish their demise? Or are you perhaps like Draco, who sympathizes with the furries and helps them? Or perhaps you ARE a furry, and the city makes you bitter and vengeful towards humans.

Suggestions: REALLY think about what your character faces every day in his life in the society around him. You may not think it, but the environment and society that you live in can be a HUGE influence in the way you think. Just think about how many factors in society could change or alter your opinion.

ALSO, because the Time Period/Era slot always defaults to Void City, feel free to post some of your NON Void characters in this thread and see how you can change things up! Variety is the spice of awesome food! I know I have PLENTY I can toss down, so let's see how you construct non-Void characters as well!

While Zato has a point that all the Time Periods will be VOID City, I'm interesting in other people's interpretations of it.

In my mind, it's not quite, but on the way to become The City in Transmetropolitan.  Somewhere inbetween now and The City in Transmet.

Guess I'll do one too for my future character

*Edit*  thought of some inconsistencies with my character that don't make since, and thought he was kinda generic, so I modify a couple things

Character: Daigan Veras

PHYSIOLOGY
1. Sex/Gender:
Male
2. Age:
14/20/0;depends on how you look at it (died, spent time in afterlife, soul placed in mortal flesh then sent to Void).  Appears to be in early 20s.
3. Height/Weight:
5'10/173 pounds
4. Color of Hair/Eyes/Skin:
light brown hair with grey patch/green eyes/light skin
5. Posture:
relaxed but upright
6. Appearance (Good-looking, over/underweight, clean, neat, pleasant, untidy; shape of face/head/limbs):
Fairly good looking but nothing spectacular. Lean athletic build.  Clean, hair and clothes a bit disheveled.
7. Defects (deformities, abnormalities, birthmarks, diseases):
no nipples or bellybutton
8. Heredity (inherited traits from character's family):
No family lines in current body
SOCIOLOGY

1. Social Class (lower, middle, upper):
Vagrant
2. Occupation (Type of work, hours of work, income, condition of work, union or non-union, attitude towards organization, suitability for work):
Fugitive hunter(awaiting instructions[specialized in capturing escapees from Hell]).  0 hours of work.  Robs dead people for income.  Conditions vary. Non-union.  Prefers to work alone but is not above working in pairs or small groups, dislikes large groups but will cooperate. Well suited.
3. Education (amount, kind of schools, marks, favorite subjects, poorest subjects, aptitudes):
Past life-8th grade public education. average grade-B.  Fav subject history, worst subject music, good at sociology.
Afterlife-3 year celestial special forces basic, combat and tracking training
4. Home Life (Parents living, earning power, orphan, parents separated or divorced, parents' habits, parents' mental development, parents' vices, neglect, character's marital status):
Past life-Mother was abused by father and very submissive, beaten to death when Daigan was 5.  Father was a drug dealerr. Very poor.  Father was distant and uncaring, occasionally abusive, but mostly neglectful.  At 14 Daigan's father tried to inlist Daigan into the drug running business.  Daigan ran away but was caught and beaten to death.
Afterlife-
developes master student relation with his primary instructor in training
Current life-no connections(just got to Void/Earth)
5. Race:
Caucasian
6. Religion and/or Nationality:
None
7. Place in Community ('leader among friends', clubs, sports):
Prefers to sit on the side lines, but if something needs to be done he wont hesitate to help/take care of the dirty work
8. Political affiliations:
none
9. Amusements/Hobbies (books, newspapers, magazines he/she reads, etc.)
Number based puzzles, researching current events and culturals, likes furries with fluffy tails(is not attracted to them mind you), binge drinker(very rarely drinks, but when he does he does all the way.)
10. Time Period/Era (social structure and how it pertains to your character)
Past life-world other than Earth, but it's development state was 1980s America-esq.  Grew up in slums surounded by drugs and violence.
Afterlife-due to clerical error spent 3 years in hell.  It wasn't a nice place.
Celestia(Heaven)- spent most of his time in training, where the temperment was that of modern special forces

PSYCHOLOGY

1. Moral Standards:
Upright and expects the same of others.
2. Personal Premise/Ambition
Discover what events occured inbetween his time in hell and arrival in Heavan(memories missing).  Find his place in Void while awaiting instructions from Celestia.
3. Frustrations
Becomes defensive when people try to pry into his past.  Can't stand the fact that he has no way to contact Celestia and more so that he never hears word from them.
4. Temperament (choleric, easygoing, pessimistic, optimistic, etc.)
A but surly and rarely smiles, but is generally a good guy with a soft spot for kids and takes the initiative to help.
5. Attitude toward Life (resigned, militant, defeatist, etc.)
Is very determined when he sets his mind to something, but otherwise he justs lets things be.  When things go wrong he tries his best to move on and learn from the mistakes of the past.
6. Complexes (obesessions, inhibitions, superstitions, phobias, etc.)
Dislikes demons and celestials alike, but isn't aggressive to either of them.  When drunk becomes very open and affectionate and will yell "I love you man!" to random people(men and women) while glomping them and often falling asleep on top of said person.  Doesn't like to be dirty and washes his hands reguarly. Has an unexplainable paranoia of mindreaders, so focuses on keeping his mind blank or occupied to keep them out.
7. Extrovert? Introvert? Ambivert?
ambivert
8. Abilities (languages, talents)
Speaks English(was hardwired into him) and still remembers how to speak his native language, though he will only speak it if he's alone so nobody will think he's possessed.  Has limited ki control; can use it offensivly, though that involves physical contact to work; practices to increase control of it.  Though he doesn't let on, he's extremely sensitive to the emotions of others and can tell when somebody is hiding something and when they fake an emotion.  Extremely resourceful.
9. Qualities (imagination, judgement, taste, poise)
Is almost always doing something, whether it be exercising, doing sudoku or just pacing back and forth.  Writes stories in his head, but never writes them down.  Looks at things logically but often acts on instinct when things get hectic.  If he can use smarts to avoid a conflict or just improve the odds he will do so, but isn't above a good scrap if somebody simply needs a beating and is not above using dirty tactics or other people to win.  Likes super spicy food and is a very good cook, although he hates cooking. Having already died he is not bothered by death, whether it be himself in dire circumstances or if it's somebody he knows; that's not to say he'll stand by and let it happen, however, and would certainly miss a dead friend, but knows he'll see them again anyways.  On that note having been to both Heaven and Hell is relativly unphazed but all the weird happenings in Void.  He's seen weirder.  If he's sleeping out in the open will sleep sitting up and leaning against something, and if he's sleeping on a bed will sleep on top of the sheets.  Is very self-aware around new people, and only opens up to people he knows well (or when he's drunk off his ass)
10. IQ:
114
11. Time Period/Era (periodic ways of thinking, and how it applies to your character)
Daigan knows what his right and acts accordingly.  Would stand against a thug or a bad cop with equal resolve.  Would rather educate people on what is right, but knows when he's hit a wall and doesn't waste his time on such.

Good lord this exercise was enlightening.  I spent forever on crap I never thought of.

I'd like to take this time and thank everyone who's participated thus far and made this thread as successful as it's been. I'm very glad this exercise helped everyone understand their characters in other dimensions, and I hope that you continue to use this exercise in designing characters not just for Void, but for any other story you may brew up.

For the past few weeks, I've been doing up little TriDim sheets of characters from a comic of mine in the works called Steam Junket (which I planned to shoot off at the beginning of the year, but taking this class made me realize that I had to take a step back and rethink some things) and have been submitting them to my teacher for feedback, despite this assignment having ended WEEKS ago. A good number of you don't know what Steam Junket is about; and all for the better, because I want you to take a look a character you are unfamiliar with and see what you can grab. This particular character received the best feedback from my teacher and is more or less one of my better developed characters. Feel free to ask as many questions on my non-Void characters as you will, because the more questions come up, the more holes I have to fill.

And without further ado, here she is:

LASIL DARGONI

PHYSIOLOGY

Sex: Female
Age: 28
Height/Weight: 5’8”/142 lbs.
Color of Hair/Eyes/Skin: Orangish /Crystal Blue/Light and fair
Posture: Poised and elegant
Appearance: A woman of remarkable beauty. Her face is framed with graceful arcs, sensual lips, a long elegant nose and deep, piercing eyes. Her hair is a wave of brilliant coppery orange. Her figure is shapely, slender and voluptuous. She     often wears an elegant deep red dress lined with gold trim and white lace, bearing the Dargoni crest upon her bosom.
Defects: She isn’t very outgoing, so she isn’t physically trained to do arduous tasks. Her low endurance and stamina are (more often than not) a fatal shortcoming.
Heredity: Eyes from father, hair color and slender features from mother.

SOCIOLOGY

Class: High. Lasil lives a pampered life in Chateau Dargoni, as her father is a metal industry tycoon.
Occupation: A socialite, very much a business tool to her father's schemes (much to Lasil's dismay)
Education: High. Personal tutors of the highest quality have educated Lasil in all aspects of school learning, as well as etiquette, housewife duties, piano, and business.
Home Life: Born with a silver spoon in her mouth, Lasil has only ever known a life of luxury. Her father, Algrey Dargoni, heads Dargoni Industries, a successful metal mining and distributing industry. Her mother, Terisse Natale Dargoni (Formerly Terisse Natale) was a mistress to Algrey and died of sickness 5 years after Lasil’s birth. As a child, Algrey neglected Lasil, even going so far as refusing to acknowledge her as his own daughter, and Lasil was left only in the care of the house servants. Despite the wealth he brought to the family, Lasil hated her father as he only saw her as the daughter of his mistress and a pawn in his business dealings. As soon as she reached the age of 20, Algrey had already begun to use her as a bargaining tool to heirs of other companies, yet Lasil casually turned away her suitors, and is therefore still single.
Race: Human, and unable to conjure magick. (In Steam Junket, a rare few humans are born with the ability to channel magick)[/color]
Religion/Nationality: Born native of Jyre, raised with no notion of religion or divinely mandated morals.
Place in community: Idol. Her wealth and stunning beauty bring men to her feet, and her natural charisma can claim virtually anything she desires.
Political Affiliations: She has little faith in the Republic of Louatjounk, knowing firsthand that her own father, a businessman of great renown, gets away with shady business dealings.
Amusements/Hobbies: Lasil is quite talented in playing the piano, a hobby she has enjoyed since adolescence.
Time Period: For her time period, Lasil is a powerful woman. Being born the daughter of a mistress, Lasil is actually quite low in the aristocratic hierarchy, but her unmatched influence and personal magnetism gives her dominion over the weak-willed and the easily charmed.

PSYCHOLOGY

Moral Standards: Is faithful only to herself and her own ability.
Personal Premise/Ambition: Lasil enjoys her life the way it is, and is willing to go through extraordinary lengths to keep it this way and stay one step ahead of her father.
Frustrations: Any kind of straightforward inconvenience could be enough to get on her bad side, as this kind of folly is uncommon in Lasil’s otherwise perfect lifestyle.
Temperament: Casual. She has little consideration for responsibility, having grown up without ever worrying about that concept.
Attitude toward life: Lax. She is very used to things going her way all the time.
Complexes: Impatient and sometimes careless.
Introverted: In her life, Lasil has never truly known anyone she can trust with her feelings.
Abilities: Well versed in etiquette, culture, education, business and conversational tactics. Quick-witted and fast to act.
Qualities: Has a remarkable aesthetic sense of style and taste, well poised.
I.Q.: 103 – While she claims no particular area of expertise, Lasil is well rounded in her education and knows plenty more than the average person.
Time Period: In the society she lives in, even her status among aristocracy or the fact that she is a woman does not hold her back from getting what she wants.

Angela Eliese Rudell

PHYSIOLOGY
Gender:female

Age:18

Height:5'3"

Weight:108 lbs

Hair:blonde

Eyes:Blue

Skin:orange/white/black fur

Posture:Slouched most of the time

Appearance (Good-looking, over/underweight, clean, neat, pleasant, untidy; shape of face/head/limbs): Well considering she's an animal type person thing I guess she looks pretty good by animal type person thing standards. She dresses very very casually and doesn't focus a ton of time in her appearance which is most evident in her hair.

Defects (deformities, abnormalities, birthmarks, diseases):None that you can see, her only major abnormality is the sword inside of her.

Heredity (inherited traits from character's family):She's full blooded Phinora, which is what her monster form is called. She shares the same eye and hair color as her father, but looks more like her mother in terms of body and facial structure.

SOCIOLOGY

Social Class (lower, middle, upper): lower middle class

Occupation (Type of work, hours of work, income, condition of work, union or non-union, attitude towards organization, suitability for work):She fights/kills people, interferes in wars, and generally is forced to do what the masked guys and Gleeko tell her to for a living. The hours vary depending on the job she's given. Angela hates the job with a passion and would love nothing more than to live a normal life.

Education (amount, kind of schools, marks, favorite subjects, poorest subjects, aptitudes): Was raised by the masked men from a young age and was only taught what they told her. She really only knows reading and very basic math.

Home Life (Parents living, earning power, orphan, parents separated or divorced, parents' habits, parents' mental development, parents' vices, neglect, character's marital status):whereabouts of her parents are unknown, lives alone. Not much is known about her parents.

Angela went through 2 different foster families and eventually is sent to live on her own.

Race:Phinora, a type of monster

Religion and/or Nationality:no religion

Place in Community ('leader among friends', clubs, sports): n/a

Political affiliations: None, she doesn't really care

Amusements/Hobbies (books, newspapers, magazines he/she reads, etc.):sleeping, watching movies

Time Period/Era (social structure and how it pertains to your character): the time period is similiar to our time period, just some things are more advanced. (technology, drugs, etc.) Angela is really the product of her environment, while the city isn't superdarkgenericBatmansortofthing, there just isn't that much value put in family and relationships.

PSYCHOLOGY

Moral Standards:She knows what's right and wrong and starts out feeling extremely guilty when she's first forced to kill others. But over time she's gotten numb to the guilt, and while she still sees it as wrong, she will do it if need be.

Personal Premise/Ambition:to somehow get out from under the thumb of Gleeko/masked dudes and live her own life.

Frustrations:Even though Angela has a large amount of power and abilities, she's most frustrated knowing there's very little she can do to change things whether it be past or present. She knows her abilities are only good for destruction and can't do anything to change it.

Temperament (choleric, easygoing, pessimistic, optimistic, etc.):While she's generally laid back in normal situations, when anything seriously threatens her she goes berserk at the drop of a hat.

Attitude toward Life (resigned, militant, defeatist, etc.):Even though Angela's life has been shitty and traumatic, she still remains optimistic and does what she can to avoid being a ball of angst.

Complexes (obesessions, inhibitions, superstitions, phobias, etc.): The only fear she's really aware of are heights.

Extrovert? Introvert? Ambivert?:Ambivert

Abilities:Her other form is her greatest ability really. She wears bracers that help keep it in check, not that she'll instantly go into the other form if she takes them off, it just helps her prevent transforming without meaning to. The bracers also help her channel the strength from her monster form so she has a lot of physical strength. Angela is also able to use her blood to temporarily make herself or her sword stronger. (with a pretty big downfall, if the "blood sword" gets destroyed well...pretty much most of her blood goes everywhere and she passes out)

Qualities (imagination, judgement, taste, poise):Angela is a pretty good judge of character and is extremely loyal to people she cares for. She's also very honest, even brutally so.

IQ:average

Agent Black (Real name N/A)

PHYSIOLOGY
1. Sex/Gender: Male

2. Age: Early 20's

3. Height/Weight: 5'6 : 110

4. Color of Hair/Eyes/Skin: Hair is black with residual glares of a skull shape when light shines on it. Eyes are black but when contracted turns yellow on occasion, skin is pale white but is susceptible to ambient lighting.

5. Posture: Slightly slouching from wearing heavy clothes/ equipment/ sometimes his head.

6. Appearance :  Said to bear a childlike face and other times wearing a face of apathetic professional blankness. Wears a featureless black coat with an unomfortabley aero dynamic black tie. HE appears to people as a blank slate most of the time.

7. Defects : Diagnosed with multiple psychological illnesses, the ones most prominent  being: retroamnesia, occult schizzophrenia (said to be related), dislexia, insomnia, and antisocial disorder.

8. Heredity: Trace Parentage not known. Though he lived childhood life as a recluse in an orpahanage, unknown influences shaped his psychological profile that would suggest otherwise of that lifestyle.

SOCIOLOGY

1. Social Class: subjective middle class. Is capable of living in either spectrum.

2. Occupation: income stemming from various miscellanious, and anonymous identities in the net.  However he isn't aware of them and doesn't have access to their accounts readily in his concious state. Most of his active time is spent on part time jobs, usually in the interest of his objective and establishing a cover that gets him past a lot of bureaucracies.

3. Education:  home scholed, public schooled, private schooled and processed through various government (or non offciial) agencies, with varied affiliations. Knows a collection of trivial information that has little to do with him, and his locality (displaced). Field experience stemming from multiple accounts of seeing him participate in discreet millitary hotspots.

4. Home Life: lives alone usually in abondoned buildings with still working facilities.  Stays away from the general populace and surrounds himself with a few trusted people usually disassociated with his line of work.  This time, he's living in an apartment with a colorful set of tenants, next door is a homocide detective. A girl scout manages to sell him the same brand of cookies each day.

5. Race: Human? Shows prominent oriental features and mideastern traits. Excepting his pale skin colour. Which seems to be watermarked with a barcode

6. Religion and/or Nationality: An Existentialist in the land of no yesterdays.

7. Place in Community: The man with the gun.

7b. The other Place in community: In Theatre Hazard he usually works in internal affairs acting as the contact between everyone else even though he is unaware of it. Rather than the leader of the outfit, he is just the janitor and sometimes the pawn they send for quick fixes.

8. Political affiliations.:  From Warsaw to Washington.

9. Amusements/Hobbies : Counter Culture(comics, literature and the like), Coordinated Tea breaks, doing miscellanious things really well.  Being an assumed identity and assembling gun parts in different ways.

10. Time Period/Era: goes by the quote "Let's shoot each other like it was the 80's again"

PSYCHOLOGY- Bear with me on this part. As there are no good answers here.

1. Moral Standards: Cobbled together sense of justice and views death as the great equalizer especially in the critical razor thin moments preceding. During these moments he sees the inner face of people as they are faced with the moments before their death, regarding those who fight back with respect possibly sparing them to complete the objective THEIR life was meant for. Everyone else who takes life lightly will face a likewise judgement and never be thought twice about. Things such as an ego or a reputation can be easily sacrificed to establish favorable means to a meaningful end. He is aware of the evil in his actions and will not disillusion himself that he was ever right. However, it will not deter him from seeing the mistakes of others and getting them on his business end.

2. Personal Premise/Ambition: An existentialist living in a nihilist's dream.  An abominable being such as he exists for a reason, perhaps to serve a purpose for an opposite and equal force. He can only hope to dream about having delusions of leading a meaningful life meanwhilst dismantling governments in his spare time.

3. Frustrations: Waking up the next day.

4. Temperament- He's numb. But finds it very constructive to displace his frustrations in combat seeing as this is his only refuge of existing. He still manages to be entertaining in the suspicion that someone is watching him.

5. Attitude toward Life- As he has found no true dogma to die for (and he's seen many), he only hopes to stay alive long enough to find it. As surviving is the best answer he can come up with to make sense of this chaos.

6. Complexes- fondness for fruits and vegetables as there are a growing rarity of organic foods. Constantly paranoid that he is still in the killzone of a constant intelligence war, but increasingly calm when he's right. Has an accurately twisted definition of altruism.

7. Extrovert? Introvert? Ambivert?- He is ever only talkative when he's in the designs of his own psychosis, talking to his contacts, and god forbid actually acting normal. He is silent otherwise though he makes up for it by making the audience read his narratives. He also projects himself to others simply as a bastard with a gun when he goes all out.

8. Abilities- Being Lefthanded. Using guns on both, Selective Memory, Torture and interrogation resistance and application, Trivia Knowledge including firearms and Murphy's Law, arts and crafts, talking to dead people, crazy people, children, haunted weapons, himself, and all of the above.  Gunsmithing is also a given.

9. Qualities- Being lefthanded, Objective,Methodical, Decisive, Adaptive, Flexible, Detached.

10. IQ- He has crazy people intelligence. And the ingenuity of a random number generator. DO NOT fuck with him.

Draco

PHYSIOLOGY

1. Sex/Gender: Male
2. Age: 35
3. Height/Weight: 6'2, 174 lbs
4. Color of Hair/Eyes/Skin: 'dirty' blonde, green, light tan
5. Posture: relaxed mostly, but vigilant when on the mission.
6. Appearance: solidly built.  Broad face, piercing gaze, long, straight-bridged nose, has a mullet of sorts.
7. Defects: Any injuries he took in his warring days have healed by now, with no lasting damage thanks to his home country Micena's excellent healing procedures.  Still some discolored tissue on the left shoulder from an tissue replacement operation he had to get due to a laser hit.
8. Heredity: Received the ability to use retain and use spirit energy in battle from his mother, in whom the trait had laid dormant.

SOCIOLOGY

1. Social Class: In Micena, high, because of his rank-- however, his lifestyle is still relatively frugal because he doesn't care for luxury.  Since his past endeavors are mostly unknown on Earth, he takes on the lifestyle of whoever he's around, whether it's the Exiles or the research team.
2. Occupation: First a commander in Micena's military forces until his resignment at the age of 32, then a teacher of swordsmanship, and now on the planet Earth participating in an unofficial weapons development project under the direction of old acquantance Dr. Vivian White.  As a part of this project he suggested that resources be arranged to fight as part of the Exiles because "being the underdog is a necessary condition of testing the superiority of our technology", as Draco puts it.  At present, he currently manages much of the affairs within the Exiles as he has the most experience of the group by far in military matters.  He is waiting for the right time for the group to take action, at which time the research teams' project can begin again in earnest.
3. Education: No formal schooling-- he did, however, undertake lessons from a tutor who taught him in several subjects, such as history, literature, and science, as well as how to control his spirit energy for use in battle.
4. Home Life: Last time Draco checked, both parents were living quiet lives in the motherland of Micena.  Obviously, due to his time on Earth he does not know their current condition.  Draco himself has always been single.  Currently stays part-time in an apartment with key members of the research team, and part-time at the Exile HQ when managing things.
5. Race: Yuniton, a distinction made by the planet of origin (Yunitor II) because of the assumed differences created by the distinct characteristics of each planet. For unknown reasons Yunitons are extremely similar to Earthians (which is what 'everyone else' calls humans).
6. Religion and/or Nationality: The uppermost echelons of power in Micena are religious in nature, so it can be said that Draco served the 'Divine Micenan Empire' in his military years.  He was also born in Micena, in effect making him a Micenan, though his grandparents on his father's side came from New Venna, another country on Yunitor II.
7. Place in Community: A leader and a dependable veteran to those around him.
8. Political affiliations: aligns himself with the people of VOID, dedicating his energies to their well-being as a vigilante.  Not purposefully against any political force, but circumstances may demand otherwise.
9. Amusements/Hobbies: still engages in teaching swordsmanship to various individuals, most notably Mize.  Dabbles in verse poetry from time to time.
10. Time Period/Era: As mentioned previously, Draco's reputation on Micena does not reach to VOID City.  He still does make an impact through his presence; solely by his presence, due to these circumstances.

PSYCHOLOGY

1. Moral Standards: While Draco embraces honesty and fair fighting, he knows that it is often for the greater good of the group to not take that route.  Otherwise, pretty high standards: he champions selflessness, hard work, justice, and all that good guy stuff.
2. Personal Premise/Ambition: The central aspect behind Draco is the search for redemption over his instrumental role in subjugating virtually all of Yunitor II and thus subjecting it to Micenan rule, which he became entirely disillusioned with late in his military career.  Thus he searches for a cause worth fighting for, and he finds promise in that of the Exiles.  This is the main reason he joins the Exiles; that one he expresses of 'being the underdog' is questionable at best for all the trouble.
3. Frustrations: The question of the practicality of good and evil.  A certain other Micenan commander was instrumental in planting this seed-- time and time again Draco has been shown that his ideals of good have little meaning in war, where despite his best intentions and efforts there is unjust suffering to be found on all sides.  This matter weighs on virtually every decision Draco makes; is it really possible to fight for ideals, or is it all really out of self-interest?
4. Temperament: Appears aloof and serious a lot of the time, but he can have a heart-to-heart chat when it is called for.
5. Attitude toward Life: Deep turmoil; still trying to find the answers he seeks.
6. Complexes: He is somewhat of a perfectionist; if something goes awry Draco always wonders if there is something else he could have done.
7. Extrovert? Introvert? Ambivert?:Â  Ambivert; as mentioned, Draco is fighting a war in both the physical and the spiritual sense.
8. Abilities: Great prowess in fighting, strategy and military tactics.
9. Qualities: An exceedingly capable leader.  Able to keep cool under pressure.  In spite of his inner conflict he maintains a strong resolve once he sets himself to a task, and to this end keeps up an image of strength before those around him.  Good at recognizing talent.
10. IQ: 118
11. Time Period/Era: Draco is somewhat comforted by his distance from Micena, the origin of his inner conflict, but he is on Earth due to the research project so he is not free by any means.  He takes the perspective of an outsider when expressing his point of view on things.
