So what movies/t.v. are you watching?

Heh it's just that I remembered too late that whenever I say Mononoke, people jump up and think Princess Mononoke.  An easy assumption to make.  That character actually made his debut in an experimental (style wise) anime called Ayakashi.  Each episode or two is a different story, characters style, etc.  I think it was the third one or fourth (can't remember) where the Medicine Seller first appears and defeats a Bakeneko (monster cat).  So I think he proved popular enough to have his own series.  I certainly hope they make another season in the future.

I guess I should then.   ;D All I know is that they made a recent videogame adaptation of it.

For kung-fu enthusiasts:

The ending montage is a little hokey, but otherwise it's good. REALLY good.

I'm sure Jackster was being honest.  He will be enjoying Madea's new adventure while we are all having ulcers in Watchmen.

Who knows?  Watchmen might surprise you?  I admit that I liked the V for Vendetta movie.  I love the comic but I really didn't have a problem with the movie.  I think that because it's a mainstream feature, it did well to that degree and people who did not read comics or knew the background, I felt, were able to get into it and understand it better because of that.  I admit that I hope for the same from Watchmen.  I understand Alan Moore's vehement hatred for the medium but it's the nature of the game.

On a totally random note: This movie is a classic, watch it!  I command you!

I've been watching SPACED and I have to say it's one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time, too bad there's only 14 episodes.  It was nice to find something that could continually make me laugh out loud, like a REAL laugh during finals week lol

I'm scared to see watchmen honestly... I'm optimistic that it will be cool but it's going to be hard to make stuff like dr manhattan's sequence not completely retarded :C

yeah, I liked it too. I think the movie ending is better in some ways than the comic book one. Tied things together nicer. The squid was out of nowhere.

I kinda miss the part near the end where Manhattan basically tells Ozy his plan was pointless because humans will eventually start fighting again anyway, then goes off to play God and stuff.

Yeah, I missed all the small things they changed.  Not talking about how Rorschach decided to fight crime, not saying how her got his 'face', and changing that happened at the kidnappers house.  I also was sad that they changed it to being John's watch instead of his girlfriend's. But I think I didn't like that because it felt like they trimmed everything else down to make room for the extended sex scene. A lot of the music was awkward for me, like 99 Red Balloons, Hallelujah and Ride of the Valkyries almost made it feel like a parody at points.  But walking out of the movie a lot of people seemed to love it that didn't read the book.  So I guess that's the point in the end, get people interested so they go back and read it.

I dunno, it was pretty good and I'd like to see it again, but I wish they had made it two movies Kill Bill style. Good thing $2 matinees start next week.

And I dunno about you guys, but I keep hearing about parents being outraged by this movie, there were no kids at the screening I went to, how about anyone else?

While the soundtrack didn't really fit in some places, I thought they had a good choice to include it as an element to really set the stage of the narrative. Honestly, I thought they could have made it even more 80s somehow, but I guess things turned out differently under Nixon.

SPOILERS!
The film just lost too much from the book. I don't tihnk the squid was out of nowhere in the book, and it makes for a much better plot twist than blaming everything on Manhattan. The sex scene as hilarious, just like in the book, and it was scenes like that that made me appreciate Snyder's dedication to the source material. Also, Rorschach's actor (Jason Earl Haley or something?) was fuckin' PERFECT.

yeah but then again, it kind of cheapened it for me to have everything be so close to the book; cause it's like, well, I could've just read the book again?? But I miss the thing I mentioned because it gives Ozy's plan another twist; where he thinks he's brought peace and everything, then Manhattan is all, "ahaha yeah... you fixed things.... for a while."
or I'm talking crazy. hrmm

oh yeah, I don't need to see a guy's arm bending backwards ever again, thanks Laurie.

There are idiots everywhere man.  Don't underestimate human stupidity.  I remember somebody talking about how some dad brought their eight-year old (can't remember where, could've been here) and walked out at the first sight of you know what, but was letting him watch the gore.

I found myself looking at the ceiling for the sex scene (I'm the girl who blushed like a tomato back in High School whenever someone said 'Boobs') but the repeated full-frontal didn't bother me.  I guess because John is such a non-sexual being to me that it just didn't register that way with me, it became just a penis, no big deal.
I'm a walking talking example of "If you don't use it, you lose it."
