Oh i didnt mean it like its kamen rider theme or whatever that, I ment its like a those Japanese cafe with omelette rice, neapolitan spaghetti, fancy coffee making devices like a vacuum coffee pot or that green creme soda you always see in sailor moon.

They also have shelf of manga so people can read mangas and drink fancy coffee there.

I've decided I have to see Spiderman Turn Off the Dark.  Even if I have to go alone.  It must happen.

My pro pass has arrived! So provided nothing tragic happens to my regular pass in the mail, I should have an extra 4 day one on me.

I am extremely bummed. I had to sell my 3 day pass to pay for stupid hospital bills (I have a really bad stomach ulcer).  So now I am just trying to scrounge up money for at least a friday ticket so I can see everyone. But I'll let Red know whats up if I build any progress in getting a ticket again

You can always come chill out with us on Saturday. We aren't going to the con that day, just having adventures.

DAMMIT I HAVE TO FINALLY MEET YOU.

okay i know i was telling people i was kinda iffy about going before, but i'm going to try and get out there for this. and HOLY SHIT IT'S ALREADY ALMOST HERE. i thought it was in november for some reason but it's actually only SIX WEEKS OUT.

i want to make this a super professional trip and get my portfolio and demo reel ready so i can get them reviewed by whomever happens to be there this year. on that note, does anyone know how to set up a portfolio review?

Well I can mention a few tips I've heard during prior cons.
Your stuff should be no older than a year.  Put your best stuff at the front of the portfolio.  You can have multiple images per page but set it up in an interesting and eye-catching way.

Pye has grabbed my extra pass!

Your portfolio should reflect what you want to do. Which sounds kind of obvious, but a lot of people make the mistake of bringing like everything. Like if I was applying for a gig as a colorist, I wouldn't be showing them my illustration portfolio. As for how to set up reviews, I know people like Marvel and DC you have to get up at the crack of dawn and wait in a big ass line to talk to editors. I'm not sure there's much of a formal way to set it up beyond waiting in line and hoping.

I never did formal reviews through editors at cons, I usually just showed my stuff around at artist alley. But I also never brought my portfolio to a big con like NYCC where people that can actually get you jobs will be there. Look at the actual booths too, while it probably won't be actual editors hanging out there, a lot of the booths have people that actually work for companies there.
