YESYESYESYESYES
That first page really turned out fantastic- I love all the different angles you chose to convey trouble brewing. And your hands. Omg. Your hands are so expressive and fluid and man. I heckin love the way you draw hands.
I like the quality of the render, and I’m all for that quality (especially dat first panel) as long as if you decide to keep it grayscale, you vary up the values. Even though you gave more detail to the foreground details, the fact that everything seemed to be the same tonal gray kind of muddled things together and it was difficult to separate the foreground and background elements. It looks like you attempted that, but I think it would convey better if the tonal difference was stronger.
I’m so glad he’s finally in, and I can’t wait to see your battles! AND FIGHT YOU

Thanks for the critiques so far, everyone!
Disclaimer, I originally started this intro maybe...3 or more years ago. It's been a bumpy ride for me, but I was determined to get him submitted due to the range of practice I could be capable of doing in future battles. So with that, I finally decided it was long past due to just get this damn thing done and submitted so I could move on. Originally there were seven pages that I was going to combine to submit, but I trimmed it. It was also going to be fully illustrated, but I wasn't satisfied and decided it was taking much too long again. After doing some research, I decided for my career pursuit, I will be primarily focusing on digital pencils and inks for comics anyway, so I intend for future comics submitted to appear more like the first panel of the first page.
I definitely wasn't satisfied with the text bubbles, so I'm not surprised to hear about that at all. In fact, I changed much of the dialogue in the final stages, and actually decided not to go back and make any adjustments. These are things I'll definitely be paying more attention to in future comics! Thanks guys!

Your stuff is so extremely sound and your fundamentals are great. This guy looks a ton of fun and I am a massive fan of the indulgent, heavy narration noir feel. My one crit would be to work on the way you set up the text. While I enjoy the typography for the narration, I feel you could do with a little smaller lettering, and smaller boxes. Also if your color scale is pure greys like this, I feel you could stand to make the text a little less dark. IT felt at odds with the rest of the comic.

Nice to see you make an epic return! One day I'd like to fight Frank but this dude I'd like to tussle with too. My one big thing about this comic is please make sure to center your font in the word balloons. And play around more with those fonts in the thought boxes. They're just a bit too blocky so I'd try out some other different ones.
