The places of Void
« on: May 01, 2006, 05:14 AM »
Okay.... People got into to this idea I made about giving all a few guidelines on how specific buildings and places in Void may look like, just enough for getting a picture.... In here I will print all the entries making it easier for all of ya who need guidelines... Hoping more people will add their places.... You can submit your places here or PM me..... Questions about the places goes to their rightful owners.

Devil's Pantry
A large contingency of immigrants, mostly Irish and Scottish. Local economy comprises almost entirely of sex drugs and rock n' roll. There are multiple bars, strip bars, strip clubs, clubs, and hookers on this street. Home of the Bang Bang Club (A brothel with confetti windows, see Cog intro pages) and Davey Jones' Locker (A pirate gay bar owned by Queer Beard the pirate, see Cog vs. Borris Jackknife) the street itself tends to be often free of cars and the homeless, but with plenty of women of ill morals and the drunk. Stretched between the buildings are lines of lightbulbs (not Christmas lights, regular sized lightbulbs) and on the higher levels clotheslines. The area is controlled by a gang of well dressed assassins and is completly free of any mystical interference from the Pennyroyal Circus on its border. (Wolfboy Jack)

The Exiles HQ:

An abandoned apartment complex in the slums of VOID. From the outside it looks as an abandoned apartment should—however, certain spots have been renovated by Draco’s research team so that the building can serve as an HQ. Specifically:

-There is a hidden camera near the front door, and someone monitoring the entrance unlocks the door when an Exiles member draws near.
-Several walls have been taken down on one of the floors to create a large room for a gymnasium, which comes with various sparring and training equipment.
-Several walls have been taken down on one of the floors to create a meeting room, which is outfitted with a projector to display pertinent mission information.
-One of the rooms has been outfitted with a small computer network for the purpose of storing databases.
-The rooms in the uppermost floors have been cleaned up to serve as quarters for the Exiles members who need them.
-Since electricity is no longer provided to the building by the city, a generator has been installed to provide power. (Graphyte Ronin)

The Grogge Shoppe (Kubo vs Kid & Kubo vs Zaff)

This is a little british pub that resides on one of the many semi-busy streets of Void City. It is owned by a very large middle-aged, scottish man, the bartender is 20 year old swetish punk girl named Kiwi, and the bouncer is her father Sven. The first floor has a bar and a dozen round tables. The second for has four studio apartments, one is the owner's, one is being rented out by Kiwi and her father, the other is rented out by Kubo, and the last one is vacant. It is a Pro-furrie astablishment where anyone is welcome.  Kubo

the grief garden

asian inspired gardens, with two large lily ponds, flowers of varied orgins but most vibraent colors, and a very rare collection of lotus flowers that stay in bloom.
the caretaker of this place never seen, some say its one of the flowers that watches over the others. in this garden one may experiance an overwelming sense of grief on occasion for no apparent reason. it is discouraged to pluck any of them or to litter or trample off the path... as those who do are never seen again. read the warning signs prior to entering. also from morning to noon, enjoy green tea in the tea house in the center of the gardens. painters are often seen in these gardens, as are photographers. fighting is usualy NOT permitted in the gardens. its most likely if you do provoke a fight there, the flowers will ask for some special assistance. you were warned.  QTRNevermore

Sol's Dojo
Owned by Sol, kept by Grod*.

Sol's dojo is 2 stories plus a basement.

1st floor is the dojo itself with an integrated gym. The walls have a few sparring weapons on them but mostly have mirrors and scrolls. There is capacity for up to 80 students all over the first floor(gym/dojo). The Shaolin styles that Sol teaches at the dojo are: Northern Praying Mantis, Wing Chun, Black Crane, Black Tiger, Dragon, Snake, Leopard, Southern Praying Mantis, Tiger, and White Crane. Sol's own style however is Black Dragon, but he doesn't teach it because it can be deadly.

2nd floor is the sign-up office and Sol's quarters, where he sleeps, showers, meditates, etc. There's also a room where Sol keeps many of his artifacts, books, scrolls and journals from his travels. The book Sol carries on his back isn't the only of its kind. He has journals from when in Tibet, England, Japan, Brazil and Hong Kong.

Basement is full of supplies to keep, clean and adorn the dojo(mops, extra weights, weapons, extra gis, etc.). There is also a room where Grod sleeps.

The building walls are reinforced with titanium plates and glass is laced with a dense teflon coating for incase things get a bit out of control the builing won't be so vulnerable.

*See Sol intro pages for info on Grod.
Note: See intro pages for dojo building.   Rax

Void Cemetary
not owned by Estrella but it is the fast way to getting to the underworld that way. its kinda like a gateway... the place looks dead... hahahaha.. the place is always in grey no colors at all//well except for the color red.. only color to show up.... the place is colorless
and depressing.(Ponbiki)

The M&J Video Corporate HQ:
A grand skyscraper with 67 floors. The building serves as a home base for the entire oprations of M&J Video, so on the upper floors have stages for film sets and photoshoots. For some reason, there is no helipad on the roof. The building is eqqipped with an underground railway system that leads directly to the Underground Research Facility.

Veronica Nightingale's office is on the top floor. It's very large but very plain. A burgundy carpet with the M&J logo leads from the double doorway to her desk.. Supposedly, she keeps some Champagne in a cabinet somewhere.

The M&J Underground Void Research Facility: The underground research facility may be underground, but it is not directly underneath Void City. It's about 200 miles east of the city, built somewhere in the side of a cliff. This is home to Professor Shiratori, who doesnt get out much. Inside holds a variety of facilities, such as the Robo-Daku assembly line, Robo-Daku launchpad, weapon testing grounds (which looks more like the Danger Room), a hologram room for recreation, internal power generators, an open warehouse for new product construction, Shiratori's private labs, Veronica's VIP Guest Room (which she has never returned to), and various other minor facilities for the workers living underground. (Kura X)

P2's club
P2's club consist of 5 floors, first one when walking in is the lobby,1floor under is the dance floor aka party room ..good example is how mamarou did it in his mize vs moo fight.
1st floor is the strip club where u will find a bar, tables booths and vip areas with many seperate pole areas and one massive stage for bigger acts, behind the scenes on this floor will also have the girls dressing room including bathrooms with shower heads.
2nd floor is the resturant which i believe is ran by head chef mal (moo's teacher) if i'm wrong then someone correct me. think beverly hills high and classy like resturant with reservation only appeal, dim lite and there is a piano player playing all the latest melodies. behind the scenes is the kitchen, meat locker, locker room for cooks and bus boys and a laundry room which has a janitor closet.
3rd floor is where all the offices will be , p2's and tobias' included. P2's office will be normal like any other office of a manager with a simple love seat couch, recliner, desk, bookcase and some pictures hanging on the wall. Tobias' office is more meant to seduce with his been bags , belt in floor jacuzzi , mini bar laid out futon.

Little things you should know about the club.
each floor is equiped with power snuffers..the minute you set foot into the building , your powers and abilities are shut off....all you can use is good o swing and kick.
There a few memebers of the staff who aren't affected by the snuffers...P2 being the most obvious.

Pennyroyal Circus (See Cog vs. Whoa)
An area of the condemned district with a medieval mediterranean feel to it, it was once a popular place for magicians and retired circus performers to live, and the buildings all have a very slight occult feel to them. The area itself was destroyed in a massive magical tear in existance that crumbled many of the buildings and killed all of the inhabitants, that same tear also caused the area to have some fairly strange circumstances, for instance the buildings and streets have a habit of moving when one isn't looking, anomolies that otherwise wouldn't exist (ie giant french bread monsters) show up on occasion, and a variety of other such events. (Wolfboy Jack)

Rainbow Bread institute. (See AgentBlack vs. Danielle)

An all around academic society that covers all levels of education from pre-conception all the way up to college level practices. A pseudo gated community that started out as a public school in the slums of void where the highest concentration of Supernaturally afflicted individuals were situated. What resulted was a new experimental community, scientific, progressive, objective, openminded, and privately funded to prove one ultimate point. "All the colors of universe, can be seen in one place, shining brightly" and to add in a scribbled subscript: "not sodomizing each other...please"

Academic minds of different practices travel world wide to set up camp in this new frontier of an integrated world of sentient machines, child geniuses, pan-dimensional beings, anime stereotypes, entities of the occult, the divine and the surreal. To gain a radical step-ahead into the new age that, only a few years prior, struck fear and repugnance in the heart of average citizens (Monday)

Rothbart Mental Institute
Thus far funded by Johnny Warshaw

Voids premere Asylum and home to the Director, Dr Clemencaux

The asylum is catered for voids residents having re-enforced cells and armoured guards on duty 24 7

Its a grand old building (think like a medievil castle esque place that always seems to be surrounded by darkness) adorned with gargoils and high windows and a huge entrance

Technologies featured so far in the institute are the Hercules jacket, a re enforced straight jacket that is lined with hypoermic needles, attatched to the back are 2 large pipes that keep tranqueliser flowing into the needles thereby keeping even the most powerful of heros docile.

Im sure more twisted inventions will be coming out of the institue given their special labs hidden in the basements and rumours of horrific tests on inmates

As for Clemencaux- Hes a-moral, only striving for what he wants. He cares little for others thinking nothing of administering horrific experiments to further his twisted knowledge. He is the owner of one of the voodoo masks, Bridgette, loa of death and wife to baron samedi. She gives him the unusual power to control his bones making him very difficult to kill.

He has scraggly hair and wears large round glases that mask his eyes, he is never seen without a labcoat and tie and always has the look of a haggered scientist (Kure Ji Ori)

Underground Slime City:

About the size of a large city, it is mostly composed of metallic buildings and streets that were uncovered from layers of rock and soil. Much of the city is still unearthed. It is located a few miles below Void's subway system and even goes under some of the more watery regions on the surface. With numerous supports in place, the risk of a sinkhole forming is minimal. The general population seems to be around 65% slime monsters, 25% mole people, and 10% other. The city is considered part of the surface country, but has its own mayor and town government apart from Void City. So far, the only known passage way between Void and Slime City is a strange looking overpowered elevator that goes from downtown Slime City to an alleyway in Void's port district. Because of the limited access between the two cities, interaction between the populations is limited at best.
Dive

VCU
Might as well put in VCU, no? The admin building is that tall, spikey-headed tower that I have in Ancelin's intro. Basically it's just a big University in the middly of VOID somewhere. Huge walls 'n' crap keep some of the troublemakers out (and others in), and the buildings are a collection of styles ranging from the Old Gothic look to a modern, bars-n-lights vibe. The main building is round, 22 stories high (I think; I can check later) with a double-height (2 stories in one basically) main floor which is the original building, and is thus gothic in design. From that sprouts the shiny modern floors with glass windows and lights setting the mood. At the top is a sattelite dish and four horn-looking structures for decoration.

The inside is up for grabs. The Amazing Bobo

Void Arcade:
Owned by two sisters they have been running it for two years.

A small building with two floors of gamer paradise. Throughout the two floors contains a large selection of high tech games, organized by their genre's. The dancing games in particular can be seen in the front of the first floor to entice other games to venture in.

If there is a case when a gamer is hogging a game a bit much, the owners or one of the employees will challenge the gamer. Should the gamer lose, they have to give up playing the game for the rest of the day and just move on. Its a system people agree on once entering the arcade.

Epo is currently the only employee there working full time.
Dj Neko

Void weapons shop-
located a good 15 blocks from the devils pantry. a front for a man named Johnny Gord's (no one steal that name, please, i have things planned for the future) mafiya/mob. he uses a weapons shop for obvious reasons. the building is small, but is rumored to have elaborate tunnel systems underneath, linking in and out through the sewers and waterways. no one is sure, for no one has come out alive. the point is to depict it the way to you want to depict it, having everyone draw it the same way takes away the freedom of drawing Void City the way they want to.  Think of a building as a character, different artists portray different characters the way they want so it should be the same for buildings.  How about, instead of writing out EXACTLY what it looks like, just put a guidline to how the place is supposed to look.  For example

The M&J Video Corporate HQ: A grand skyscraper with 67 floors.  Veronica Nightingale's office is on the top floor.  The building serves as a home base for the entire oprations of M&J Video, so on the upper floors have stages for film sets and photoshoots.  For some reason, there is no helipad on the roof.

You point out the important parts of the building, but dont lay it out exactly so you still have the freedom of designing the building yourself.

Hmmm...maybe this should be a thread where we post descriptions of locations we've created for the sake of others who may want to use them? For instance it'd be real helpful to know what James' hospital room looked like...
Be nice Jack.

This is where Cog and his crew of well dressed assassins operate from as it borders on the Devil's Pantry...suppose I'll just do a description of that too...

To gain a radical step-ahead into the new age that, only a few years prior, struck fear and repugnance in the heart of average citizens.

Description:
A massive campus encrusted with all too variant building styles new and old that is mostly dominated with ergonomic and organic tones. Students usually stay at the old dormitories constructed at the turn of the century and is usually kept away from being exposed to a setting dominated with plaster and synthetic walling. This should not however indicate the lack of technological conviences for there are domesticated and effecient frames of them all throughout the campus where they are welcomed. Usually not around the generations-old practices that dominated lifestyles in the dark ages. Even the security is mandated by the practitioners themselves to stimulate a territorial setting.

Classes and other anatomies of the school usually share the same circular quality to them as it is their main design motif that everything be well rounded.  Hallways, roads, and streets have a circular quality to them. While it took some getting used to, and a bit of intuitive thinking, the mathematical system of circular paths actually allowed the more veteran residents (especially the delivery personnel) an easier way to manage their time, and get to deceptively distant places even faster . "There are no such thing as detours. Only the paths you take."

more to come.

I put this in my intro for Jelly Jam, but I hope I'm not taking too many liberties with this just the same.

The inside is up for grabs.

the grief garden

asian inspired gardens, with two large lily ponds, flowers of varied orgins but most vibraent colors, and a very rare collection of lotus flowers that stay in bloom.
the caretaker of this place never seen, some say its one of the flowers that watches over the others. in this garden one may experiance an overwelming sense of grief on occasion for no apparent reason.  it is discouraged to pluck any of them or to litter or trample off the path... as those who do are never seen again.  read the warning signs prior to entering.  also from morning to noon, enjoy green tea in the tea house in the center of the gardens.  painters are often seen in these gardens, as are photographers.  fighting is usualy NOT permitted in the gardens. its most likely if you do provoke a fight there, the flowers will ask for some special assistance. you were warned.

S.S. Overkill: Some bizzare Battleship owned by the Cock Rockers. It has the capability to also launch jets and planes of all sorts. Randomly seen. It's also hard to find if you're looking for it it seems.

Museum of Artistic Concepts: A bizzare art museum where art concepts are on display. Entering the display puts you in the style. Discordant styles like Cubism are difficult to escape sometimes. The doors look like flat paintings from the exterior.

SHOCK CITY: A freakish neighboring city to Void. It almost makes little to no sense. It is a mile wide and about 100 miles long. It is set up like this so they can have Motorcycle/Monster Truck/ Shark races. The police foces is Vikings on Clydesdales. Every hour on the hour, the clocktower chimes hard rock and a monster truck ramps out of it followed by explosions. The city is totally badass. It's also considered the sibling town of void. Often even mentioning the name of the city can cause a mass wailing of electric guitars followed by some explosion. Usually, if you aren't born or raised in the town, navigation is very difficult.
