News & Events / Void Video Casts
« on: Apr 29, 2012, 10:44 AM »
Hi there :)

I'm aiming to make a short Void related video every month that focuses on interviews with our members for your viewing pleasure.

Episode 1

MoCCA Fest 2012
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3aKfvIQmjY

Guests, in order of appearance:
William Duel http://entervoid.com/index.php?action=profile;u=2438
PuzzleThing http://entervoid.com/index.php?action=profile;u=759
Runic http://entervoid.com/index.php?action=profile;u=2788
Evan Dahm http://entervoid.com/index.php?action=profile;u=270
Bittermause http://entervoid.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1564
HeyZoos http://entervoid.com/index.php?action=profile;u=133

We started out in Ye Olde Carlton Arms Hotel, which is painted head to toe by different artists. http://www.carltonarms.com/the_rooms.htm

William Duel happened to get a room that was themed with hermaphrodites ... So, the first part was pretty silly but the second part takes place at MoCCA Fest where we meet up with Evan, Bitter, and HeyZoos!

Small note: I usually upload Void videos to another account, but since this is over the normal time limit I had to upload it to my real account. Therefore it's an unlisted video that can only be accessed with a link to it (You can't search for it and it's not listed on my channel). Also, embedding has been disabled, sorry... I'm preventing my usual subscribers from viewing it.

Art Jams / M-M-MURDER JAM
« on: Apr 11, 2012, 11:51 AM »
Welcome to the MURDER JAM. Where you murder the previous character with a new character of your own.

VICTIM ONE:

JayBee is a whimsical wood elf who left the magical forest to travel to the big city. Leaving was an easy decision because all of the other elves mocked him for being a rabid fan of Justin Bieber fan and Twilight. He gets really defensive if you mock him for being an elf, or mock his fandoms.

Whoever wants to go next has to draw a new character killing this one. The person after that draws a new character killing the last one. So on and so on.

Funny or serious, it doesn't matter. They can have a reason for killing them, or none at all. Just have fun and be creative.

This can be just a single drawing of the killing, OR a comic!

MURDERING ORDER:

ENEF
SPROJLER

Art Jams / Evolution Jam!!!!
« on: Apr 05, 2012, 06:30 PM »
This is based on The Exquisite Beast by Yuko Ota and Void vet Evan Dahm.
http://exquisitebeast.tumblr.com/archive

We start with a simple creature, then show how it evolves and progresses over millions of years of evolution. In The Exquisite Beast, the artists would take turns drawing a step in the evolution. But here, we can just all take a spot.

So, here's how it works:

I'll start with this silly guy:

Length: 12" average
Weight: 25 lb average
In it's early days, the creature is small and helpless. The species is classified as an amphibian, and hunts smaller bugs and animals. The creatures come out mostly at night, to avoid being eaten by larger predators.

Now it's your turn. Take the next step in the creature's evolution any way you'd like. Maybe he get's faster, maybe he gets stronger, maybe he focuses on camouflage and evasion?

If you want to participate, the order will go in first come first serve order. If you wanna do this just post here letting me know you want to participate, then we will follow the turn order! You can write a description for the creature if you'd like too!

RULES:
1. If you take a long time to respond when your turn comes up, you'll be skipped because I'm just going to assume you forgot :P

2. Take small steps in the evolution, this is a gradual process! Take a look at the blog I linked for a reference!

Since the lack of stuff in the Void store has been brought up, I'm trying to get a general consensus of what kind of Void merchandise you dudes would be interested in... or if you are interested at all. It never really sold a lot of stuff, but maybe it just had the wrong stuff. Anything on here that you'd like that isn't listed?

So cast your votes, you can pick as many things on the poll as you'd like.I screwed it up and you can only pick one haha... whoops. Post up a comment on your thoughts.

News & Events / EnterVOID Promo thread - Spread the word!
« on: May 15, 2011, 08:02 AM »
[!]
It's come to our attention that many of you are posting up fliers and spreading the word without encouragement. That's awesome!! We would like to help out everyone who is willing to go that extra mile for void, as well encourage people who may have not thought of doing this before to try it out.

A lot of our members are college students, particularly art students. Posting fliers up on the bulletin board might catch a few eyes. Also, comic shops or any other place you think a potential future voider would lurk in your town.

Here are some items you can use to help promote the site, and we certainly encourage you to create your own and share them with us here!

8.5" x 11" Printable Flier
Tried to make this printer-friendly so it doesn't murder your black ink cartridge.

News & Events / Bring a friend to void day! April 23rd!!!
« on: Apr 15, 2011, 01:50 PM »
April 23rd is Bring a Friend to Void Day!

It's always awesome to get new people here, so this is a fun and easy way to help spread the word!

On April 23rd, we are all going to post an image on our favorite social network or blog (Facebook, Deviantart, Conceptart, Blogger, Tumblr etc, you get the idea) that shows off what you've done here at Void and let's people know about us.

OR

Just simply invite a friend to join! I bet a lot of you came here from word of mouth, I know I did. Maybe a friend, or someone you watch on Deviantart, or yo mama.

OR YOU CAN DO BOTH!!

The image:
I've made two photoshop files that will act as templates. Each has three panels that you can put your own art into. Horizontal or vertical, whichever you prefer.
You can draw entirely new stuff for the panels, or pull from comics and art you've done already.

Horizontal Template:
http://totallylamerobot.com/Templates/temp-horz2.psd

Vertical Template:
http://totallylamerobot.com/Templates/template-void1.psd

SO! You have about a week to prepare! It doesn't have to take that long if you don't have the time, and you could potentially bring some awesome new people to the site! Also, if you do this then you are super cool.  8)

Post them here now if you'd like to, but wait till April 23rd until we unleash on the rest of the internet :D

OR YOU CAN TOTALLY MAKE YOUR OWN FLIER!!!!! WHATEVER YOU WANT, DUDES!!!

Art Jams / The Love-Child Jam
« on: Mar 24, 2011, 10:48 AM »
Quote
As a heads up I have updated the Jams rules. In order to encourage more jams and activity, a piece of art is no longer required in the first post in order to start a jam. (although it is appreciated if you do) I have also locked the jam ideas thread as there's no reason for to exist now since you can just start a jam when the idea hits you. I also put that straight up porn jams are a no no just to keep drama from ensuing.

I want to encourage you all to start making whatever fun jam you want, and participate in them. GO FORTH AND DRAW.

I'm bringing back the love child jam. Deal with it.

Pretty self explanatory, pick two Void characters and draw their offspring. It doesn't have to make sense, just do it and have fun.

Angie & Haley
Their names are Ruby and Greg and they are twins.

THE INCUBATOR / READ BEFORE POSTING: Guide to the Incubator.
« on: Sep 09, 2010, 03:18 PM »
What is the incubator?
The incubator is a place where you can post your new character, and intro comics, to receive feedback before you submit through the main site. In order for your character to be accepted, your submission must be up to our standards of quality, and also meet our submission requirements. The incubator is a good place to make sure that your submission is in order before you submit it.

What should I post?
• It is important to remember that users are only allowed to create one thread in the incubator, even if you decide to stop working on a character and start making a new one. Please keep everything in a single thread and edit it as necessary.
• You can post whatever you have so far on your character, or comics. You are encouraged to post complete art, but sketches and works-in-progress are fine if you feel you need critique in your earlier stages.
• Feel free to post thumbnails of your comics if you’d like critique on your page layout.

What shouldn’t I post?
• Anything that isn’t related to your submission. We have a section called ‘Go For Broke’ in which you can post your previous work, or other art that you’d like critique on.
• A post containing no art whatsoever. Posts that only contain text will be locked.

Important Notes about submission guidelines
Design Sheet
• The design sheet should clearly show your character and their important features. It is recommended that you draw them in a static, standing pose.
• Design sheets MUST be in color. Color swatches are not acceptable.
• The need for a shot of their back is on a case-to-case basis. If your character is just a guy with a T-shirt and jeans then a back shot would not be necessary. However, if your character has a design on the back of that shirt then a back shot would be necessary.
• Include close-ups and descriptions of anything on your character that you need to, such as scars, tattoos, intricate hair-dos, designs on clothing, weapons, etc. The more visual information, the better.

Intro Comics (2 page minimum, 4 page maximum)
• The intro comics are intended to be a way to measure your comic making skills. You want to do your very best on them.
• You can do whatever you’d like as far as the story goes. Just introduce us to your character.
• Unlike the design sheet, the intro comics do not have to be in color if you don’t want them to be.
• These comics cannot be sloppy, unfinished, or incorrectly sized.

Bio
The shorter you can make your Bio, the better. Just give us the essential information.

"Unspoken Rules"
• You must be able to draw human anatomy, at least decently. If you are submitting a non-human character, then please show us a human somewhere in your submission.
• Backgrounds: A comic without any backgrounds will be rejected.
• Effort: Even if you aren’t the best artist out there, showing tons of effort will probably get you approved. If you are a fantastic artist but slack on your submission, you will not be accepted.

Character creation FAQS

Does my character have to be a fighter?
No. They can be whatever you want them to be.

Does my character have to live in Void City?
No. Void City is a setting that is often used, but it is in no way required. You can even have your comics take place in whatever time period you’d like. If you’d like to use Void city, it can look any way you want it to. There is no map, and there are no set locations.

Can my character be a duo or trio etc of people?
Yes, you can submit a group as a single character. You submit them all on a single submission. They must all be included on a single design sheet and intro comic.

Are my characters powers/abilities limited? Can I make a character with God-like powers?

We don’t limit your characters power, they can have whatever powers you want to give them.

Can my character be a cat, alien, furry, 20 foot monster, or robot?
Yes, anything goes.

Also, Please Note:
Please be respectful when receiving and giving critique. Unnecessarily rude or off topic posts will be deleted.

Feel free to ask questions here so this post can be updated as needed!
