Avery Mann is a detective in the VCPD Homicide Unit.

He is a fairly simple man, who just wants to do right by the people of this city, and bring killers to justice, but with the law. As a member of law enforcement with no form of super powers or any kind of fancy martial arts training outside of the basic police training to join the force, he has to do his job from a fairly subdued position. He often lacks the ability to bring a suspect in himself, so instead, he focuses his time and efforts on the investigation, making sure that he knows exactly how everything went down before he makes a move.

Due to the power gap between himself and the literal super powered killers he tries to catch, he's a particularly stressed individual, and this has manifested in what could only be considered an astonishing amount of smoking.
