Mortooncian's Art Thread! (Maybe NSFW)

Still taking me some time to finish up the ref sheet n' the larger-scale sketches for intro comic panel review BUT in the meantime might as well start up my art thread! This is stuff I've done recently that I like best.

This is fanart for Cucumber Quest, my favorite webcomic!

My original character Faustine. She's the afterlife's equivalent to a vice president!

AoStH was my favorite adaptation of Sonic (I'm a big big Sonic fan)

This one's like a year old-- and kinda messy!-- but it's a favorite; a monster design for a character named Arachne.

This one is fanart for an obscure Japanese series of short films for kids called Popee the Performer! I posted this a day ago.

And lastly,

Audrey :')

I loved aosth too as a kid, I admit though I was more into Sonic than I am now but I still hold a lot of the stuff from my childhood dear.

Wicked art by the way! I love that monster design.

Thank you!! Sorry I didn't reply earlier-- I wanna only post when I have more content. I still love Sonic but I admit his games haven't, uh, been the best lately

This post is more VOID-related! Here's Syraxis' character Heratik. We're very good friends but I haven't drawn his characters since we went to highschool, and I wanted a break from lining my VOID intro pages, so!

And as a bonus, his other character Yvonne!! I love her so much. She's blind, eats eyes, and is kind of like Heratik's 'Gary Oak' rival. But I shouldn't talk too much about characters that aren't mine. She's my favorite of his though!

love it ,your stuff seems pretty well rounded tho ,so not much to say ,rather than that that last piece in your first post is awesome ,love the ''pencil '' hatching in figures !

Thank you!! I got a new scanner this last christmas and I missed drawing traditionally ;w; I'll work on making more to post for this thread!

Content:
As some of you may know, late May-about mid-July I will actually be studying abroad. (I know until my study abroad's over I'll be too busy to battle immediately-- at least, too busy to give opponents the respect they deserve!)
So while my goal is to have my intro comic done ASAP, if I have any spare time until the trip, I wanna work on a beyond battle which can elaborate more on Audrey/her kind of weird abilities!

This guy's a character of mine, though imo, he's way too uninteresting for me to use in VOID--
but I was thinking of using him in said beyond battle!

This is in reference to a joke a friend and I made [who is the creator of Audrey's backstory characters].
Style emulations are always fun though!

Just spent 18 hours straight drawing keyframes for my Beginning Video Art class' animation project.
(We have only a week to make all the footage-- whyyyyy)
I think I drew about 100+ keyframes last night. I didn't sleep. My eyes hurt. I need coffee

Here's some of my favorites:

Absolute favorites:

Bonus one actually feat Faramond:

y-yes i based my class project off the character i wanna use for void d-don't look at me like that

My frame-by-frame animation project is finished!

It's been a long time since Faramond was dealt his fate, but he still has regrets.

Though I had only a week to draw all the frames, I'm pretty pleased with the end result.

I don't think you can embed videos in posts? At least, not from the options I'm seeing.

Whatta tweest!
So wait, is the prince the hat now? was this a flashback, or just Audrey messing with someone?

For a week this is fantabulous work. You're a BEAST! I especially liked the attention to detail on your favorite bits, like the statue and water fountain. I think the bit that stood out to me the most was the opening of the garden door. You could've just had it open, but you took the time out to show off the tug and tearing of all that vegetation that had grown over the door. Kudos to you, man

The prince is the hat, now! It's in reference to past + current events in his life, but the human man was who he was.
(I'll go over it more in VOID B) muwahahaha)

And it's actually just his dream, with no interference from Audrey herself. I was originally not going to have Audrey there at the end, but I felt it gave better closure as well as explain 'he's desperate when he sees that fountain because she's actually dead'.

Thank you so much though!! ;///u///;

The epic burger tower speared through the middle and with a pickle. That has my name all over it.

These are looking great- and way to be ambitious with April Drawing doing mini animations. Looking forward to seeing more!

OH GOSH ITS BEEN A WHILE time to post!!

This first one is a picture I speedpainted as a final project for my college video and digital art class/VADA (yes, I got away with a speedpaint, and no I was not gonna do another animation in a single week).  If you want, the speedpaint video is here, if you can handle seeing my actual face (gah!) and my Sonic obsession (double gah!)

A hi-res still is here!

Pandora! I started up a great story-partnership with a friend of mine, this is from it. (Also, it'll appear in Comicide!)

So many Pandoras...!

I don't know if people are thinking this and just not saying it, but there seriously need to be more comments on this thread about how cute and lovely your art is!

@ Charlie: Thank you so much!! I really enjoy eye-hurty colors, admittedly it's a bad habit of mine and not for everyone u__u

@ Bobo: noooooo /)///w///(\ youre so nice!! I'm happy my art makes you happy though!!

Here's more, some from while I was studying art abroad:

This is Elpis; she was the protagonist of my first, failed webcomic. Now she's been retooled as kind of a Hell street urchin who is influential in the [literal] criminal underworld. (the large guy she's moseying up to is my friend Squid's character Oz)

Squid's Sophie; do you ever see clothes and be like 'this fictional character I know would wear that'? That was me, pretty much all the time in Paris. Sophie would have that look down.

lets hear it for the bIRD MOM

Squid's Oz; I drew this at the Centre Pompidou. He's very sad and I love drawing sad dads

I got a thick marker from a papeterie on the way home, and drew an Audrey with it!

Okay, so I've also been working on retooling ocs in my downtime. Making and creating ocs is what makes me happiest, even moreso than watching bad movies

Jiko and Dǎozhì Shinda who are Japanese-Chinese fraternal twins. I may use them for VOID in the future, especially Jiko...

here's jiko waiting for the bus on a normal day

BTW: would it be best to post art in dumps like this, or more frequently? I make art really often (-looks at art jams board-) so I've been trying not to spam

Alright! I'll post some stuff as I make it then!

I don't want to make an incubator thread for her-- after all, aside from needing to do the intro comic, I just wanna submit her when I feel i'm pretty entrenched into VOID ( maybe after my first battle and after I post my first BB? ). But here's the ref sheet and bio for Jiko Shi, my possible second slot and a reactive 'npc'.

(I'd-- I'd really like to do humor comics with her, I'll be real. She's pretty much 'how the fuck does anyone normal live in this city like holy shit')

Quote
Age: 24
Sex: Female
Height: 5'6'
Major: Undeclared
Race: Half Japanese, half Chinese

Jiko Shi was raised in VOID City her entire life; her parents moved there once they found out about her condition.

Though she cannot throw a punch, Jiko is physically invincible-- any harm or injury heals soon afterwards, anything severed re-attachable. Should a limb be cut and stolen, with enough time it will reform (the old, severed one crumbling to dust). She feels the pain, but by now, it's more an annoyance. Poison, drowning, fire; think of it, none of it's worked, all has happened.

See, the downside to such an awesome ability is the bad luck it carries; and by bad luck, Jiko is often a magnet of collateral damage-- and scary company. Construction accidents, VOID battles' property damage, spontaneous combustion, failed coffee orders though they were rehearsed-- Jiko has it pretty rough (and she's in VOID city of all places).

However, her dry wit, almost stoic fearlessness, and ability to take almost anything in stride make her popular and well-liked by her peers (even if she herself doesn't have a lot of direction so far as interests or life goals).

For the most part, Jiko's a normal 24-year-old; unsure of herself and trying to make it in her hometown.

When she's not attending a college class or two, Jiko has fun around the city when she can. Come nightfall, she works the graveyard shift for an open-all-night cafe-diner, in a shady part of town.

Jiko feels she got the job because she's the only one able to "survive" the walk home...

I like that you're not just rushing into everything at once, but I really want this character on VOID right now! I can't wait to tear her apart in crazy and creative ways :D

Thanks Bobo!! I really like the idea of her for fun's sake. She's so done with everything.

Stylized Jiko some different ways while trying to solidify her features

[I like the idea Jiko's face contrasts with Rikun's Itami + Jenna]

She's totally going to have a fanclub of people who want to keep coming back to stab her because she can't die.

Really like your linework, and especially your painting; you put together nice palettes! Great shapes! Also enjoy how your women are feminine but solid.

Aaaaa thank you Love Tank!! I really like emphasizing shapes a lot because they can easily vary figures + make them look cartoonier

Some more traditional drawings, added nsfw precaution just in case

rip elvis bean, too sweet for this world
