Typography Jam-The Most Hardcore Jam Ever

Typography Jam-The Most Hardcore Jam Ever

I hope you guys are ready for a tough hardcore manly jam! I fully expect only 1 person to do this jam but those of you who do it will get to have the feeling of a job well done.

Typography-the art and techniques of arranging type, type design, and modifying type glyphs.

The point of the jam is to get you guys to think about your text better and to realize that text in itself is an art form.

THE HARDCORE MANLY CRITERIA

-Text must be the focus of your image, you cannot just throw in a comic panel with a word bubble, I wanna see you do creative shit with your letters. Be creative! Remember that you can make a picture from just using letters!

-NO COMIC SANS

-You do not have to use a specific font, but it must be somewhat legible

Aaaaaaand the biggun

YOU ARE FORBIDDEN FROM USING A COMPUTER FOR YOUR TEXT-I promise you it can be done, I had to take a 2 semester class where I was forbidden from using a computer.

Now to show some examples of what I mean (yes some of these are digitally made)

I'm new here so late on this Jam, but I have two pieces that fit this topic actually :)

There are 62 individual words in this piece, a couple of them have been repeated bringing it to 69 (the number is a coincidence not planned).

and

Buffy the Vampire Slayer 'fan' art?

I love me some typography, and I'm not about to let this topic die.  Too much potential. Sorry about teh crummy reproduction, I've been without a scanner for a long time now.

I've been playing with calligraphy as of late. I think learning calligraphy is a really good way to understand the anatomy of a letter. Not sure if this is considered typography, but yeah.

The best jam ever must not die.

Also, what is a typography jam without a link to Marian Bantjes?
