Welcome to The 2017 Original Character Tournament!

"Holy Toledo! What a great name!"
I know, right?

"What is this tournament?"
Why, this is a themed Speed Death Tournament! That means one week rounds! How exciting!

"A theme! What kind of theme?"
The best kind of theme! This is all about you taking that old character of yours that you have locked away deep, deep in the catacombs of your heart, and busting them out of prison! Take them into the fresh air and let’s see what you have!

"So when you say old characters…"
I mean an old character! Not one you submitted to Void, mind you, but any old character that you’ve forgotten about from your past. Maybe they’re a dark secret from a Naruto RPG or maybe you just haven’t drawn them in a long time! Those characters are buried treasure in this tournament!

"Wow! I’ve got just the character!"
Fantastic! To sign up with that character, you need to have a new design sheet AND proof of an old image of them. Now, it doesn’t have to be an old design sheet necessarily, but an illustration, a shot, basically an image of the character created by your past self. If we can’t really tell the difference between your art now and your art then, that’s kind of a poor fit for the tournament!

"An old design sheet? But really, I made this character a long time ago!"
You gotta show the pages! That is a requirement! Only old characters because this tournament is gonna be capped at 8 people so space is a premium! If you don’t have an old image, find another character!

"You know, I do have that Naruto character I made when I was a literal babychild…"
That’s great! Super even! That kind of stuff is definitely within the theme of the tournament! But remember to divorce them from being just a fancharacter! Void is for Original Characters. They don’t need to be Goku’s boyfriend-dad anyways! I’m sure they’re a super character.

"Is there anything else I need?"
Well, I’d hope you’re registered to the site. If you got that out of the way, then not much else! You’re going to have to remember to submit your entry through the regular character creation. All you will need is a Design Sheet and a 50x50 Icon. Intro pages are not required for this tournament at all since these will all be death matches.

You may want to put your old design sheet somewhere in your submission. If you don’t submit a file with both old and new side-by-side, might I recommend in one of the Intro Page slots (if you don’t plan on giving us an intro story)?

At the very least, you have to post it with your new design sheet here when signing up, otherwise you won’t be counted for applying to the tournament and that would be sad!

"What about in the comic proper? All I know about is the Light Speed Death Tournament!"
Unlike the LSDT, you have a week to do your comic and a week to vote, as usual. There is no page restrictions, so go as big or as small as you feel comfortable with. These are death matches, so your opponent must die. To that end, both you and your opponent’s characters gotta show up! (You don’t have to be the one to kill your opponent, of course.)

There will be only 8 slots for this tournament due to time considerations! (Unless by some weird stroke we get LSDT numbers, in which case that may change. Keyword being may.) As a result, people could be cut and you may not get in. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t sign up anyways if you’re interested! Don’t count yourself out immediately as if it’s a given! Join! We would love to have you!

"What dates do I need to keep in mind?"

Sign-ups Begin: Today, December 21st 2016!

Sign-ups End: Futuretimes, December 30th, 2016!

You: Sign-up TODAY!

That means we’re going to be battling starting the 1st of January! Happy New Years! With 8 people, that will be 3 rounds! With that in mind, we should end sometime around February 12th – 14th (depending on how the rounds get put up). This sign up isn't first come first serve, so join in!

So, without further ado…

Art Jams / Old Forgotten Character Update Jam!
« on: Dec 16, 2016, 12:28 PM »
Hey there! You weren't always the super cool artist you are now! You used to draw dumb things and be bad at it differently! You did fan-characters and you look back with embarrassment all sorts of things! But now you're a great artist with super sensibilities! So why not reach back into the past and perform a little archeology?

So, take an old character of yours and update it to be fresh and fancy!

Out with the old and brittle vessel...

...and in with the younger, stronger new one!

And another one I did sometime last year.

Sound fun? Awesome. Just don't bother with some existing Void character you got cause we see them all the time. And make sure to show us the old design sheet or illustration of the character! We wanna look at how dumb you were much you've improved and changed!

SPOOKY SCARMAGEDDON, LET'S DO A SPOOKY SCARMAGEDDON!

"What is this spooky scar-thing?"
Ah yes, Scarmageddon. An old idea first run by myself and Qyzex, Scarmageddon is an all-inclusive scar match single-round tournament, and yes, this means you can enter. Everyone who applies is involved. Scarmageddon does not discriminate!

This year is particularly special due to the new rules crafted for dead characters, allowing them to participate in scar matches and have consequences as a result! That makes this a SPOOOOOOoooOOOoooOOOOKY SCARMAGEDDON! So, how can you NOT join in?
(It's also special cause I didn't post this while blitzed out of my mind!)

"Could even I enter?"
Yes, even you could enter! If you have a character and want to participate, that means you can enter! Especially if you have a dead character! The dead are super welcome this year (but so's the living)!

"I’m super scared of being scarred!"
Better not enter then! Just like you would expect death in a Speed Death Tournament, expect scars in Scarmageddon! If you enter and are unhappy with the results, its all on you! We promise nothing but the creativity of your peers!

"I’m not scared of being scarred, tell me more!"
That’s the spirit! This tournament will begin on Sunday, October 16th! To enter, simply sign up in the thread with your character of choice. The tournament will last for 5 weeks, with the drawing period ending on Sunday, November 20th! Not like the Invitational, this will only be one round. There’s no redemption opportunity, you have to do it right the first time! You only have the 5 weeks to do the comic! Generally speaking groups will be divided up to around 5 - 6 participants in each group. However, it's not impossible that your group could end up being a group of 4 or a group of 7, depending on participation.

"Do I have to scar everything?"
As all other scar matches, you must scar everyone. Prepare for a battle, you need to showcase all characters and scar all characters involved in your group.
I can't be any clearer on this, because even if it's a small scar, something needs to change from beginning to end. If you can accomplish this, you're golden! Otherwise, you're disqualified. So don't be disqualified! Be golden!

If you happen to lose Scarmageddon, the only scar that matters to your character is the one that the winner gives your character. Every other scar doesn't matter at that point.

However! It is worth mentioning that some of our previous participants took the scars that all of the other artists gave their character. Some artists even scarred their own characters! That is completely up to your discretion (but is a ton of fun!).

"I never battled before! Am I still able to join? Could I make a new character?"
If you want to make this your first battle, awesome! If you want to make a new character for it, you’re also more than welcome to get someone new in before that time period. This isn’t the Invitational though, so you’d need to actually make the intro pages and go through the standard submission process.

"What will happen if I lose?"
Then your character will be listed as 'Inactive' until you alter your design sheet to reflect the scar you gained from the winner of your bracket. It’s the same deal as losing a regular scar match, so don’t worry!

"I've seen this Scarmageddon before, RoflQu! You can't pull the wool over my eyes, I want something good!"
Well, how about this! If you win Scarmageddon this year, you will earn the coveted title of SLAUGHTERMASTER!
I can hear the Monster Truck Rally announcer singing your praises already. Just imagine it, your character forever known as a SLAUGHTERMASTERof Void. Now that's a hard deal to pass up!

"Holy Cicatrices! I can’t not join this!"
Then get ready to get cut! You have until October 15th to join this spooktacular scary scarfest!

"Can you give me the dates again?"
TODAY, THE DAY YOU SIGN UP!
OCTOBER 15TH, THE DAY SIGNS UP END!
OCTOBER 16TH, THE DAY THE SPOOKY SCARMAGEDDON BEGINS!
NOVEMBER 20TH, THE DAY DRAWING CEASES!

What is THE SUPPORT GROUP? It’s what you need. If you’re an artist or a writer who’s developing a webcomic right now and you’re just having trouble breaking through that wall to producing, then this is for you.

The Support Group strives to offer your fellow members in the group encouragement and critique. Each month, you’ll join in and show proof that you’re making some developments towards your passion project. We’re all aiming to be better artists and writers and to make our own mark on the world. However, for some of us, that push into the real-world can be really scary, especially when you see your large comic in terms of Akira-length epics.

That's what this is for. Month to month, you're welcome to join in and work towards a webcomic (or print, or whatever) goal with the rest of us. We'll be doing this like clockwork and this is a bit of an experiment. Hopefully, if we take some baby steps The Support Group can ease you into making a giant footprint in your workload.

So, explain it in detail...
Gladly! The Support Group will be signing up in the first week of the month. If you want in, sign up for it then, because come the 2nd week, we'll be creating the match. No cancellations on it, you're either turning something in or defaulting. You have 4 weeks to create 3 pages. 3 pages, finished of your baby.

This completely doable! Post those pages up when the time is up like a regular battle and share it with the world! Get critique from your fellow participants and voiders and feel good! You just started work on something!

3 pages minimum in a month sure sounds like a lot to me!
Even at the most relaxed schedule to a webcomic release date, you’re going to want to be posting a page a week. If you can do more, do more! If you can’t do 4 pages in a month then you’ve got a real issue somewhere in either the time or your process.

Can I share more than 3 pages if I do more than 3 pages?
Sure, that's all up to you. However, I'm only asking for 3 pages.

What if I don't have 3 pages? What if I have nothing?!
I guess sign back up when you're ready? You'll get a default like any other battle or a low score like any other battle.

What if real-life happens to me?
Then just let one of the mods know to remove you. I don't think any of us will dispute something serious and while this is to help you to work, the name is right in the title. This is The Support Group and we want to make sure you're doing things that make a positive step in your goal until you're ready to fly on your own once you've hit the rhythm.

Can I join in? What if I left? Can I come back?
Yes, yes, yes. You can join in whenever you want to join in. If you left and need to come back, we're more than happy to have you involved.

When do we start?
Since this first one is a LITTLE late in the start of it, we're going to have sign up continue on until Saturday. We'll begin on this Sunday (the 6th of March). If you're wanting to get involved, it's time to sign up.

This is your opportunity to work on something for yourself! I'm glad to see anyone sign up if they need help!

So sign up!

News & Events / Lean on me! The 2016 TAG SCARMAGEDDON!
« on: Mar 02, 2016, 08:51 PM »
HEY, WHO LIKES GETTING FUCKED UP? YEAH, I LIKE GETTING FUCKED UP, TOO!

It’s been 3 years since the last Scarmageddon and 6 years since the original! I say it’s time we have ourselves some scar-making! However, for this, our third Scarmageddon, I have something particularly memorable in mind to make it one to remember!

A Tag Scarmageddon!
That’s right, you and a pal will be teaming up to make mince-meat out of your opponents!

What is this funky scar-thing?
Ah yes, Scarmageddon. An old idea first run by myself and Qyzex, Scarmageddon is an all-inclusive scar match single-round tournament, and yes, this means you can enter. Everyone who applies is involved. Scarmageddon does not discriminate! This is by no means an official anything, just a sign up thread for a little homebrew loving.

HOWEVER, that’s Scarmageddon. In TAG SCARMAGEDDON, no one is flying solo for this match! You need to have a partner!

Buh-buh-but I don’t have anyone to lean on!
That’s okay! Just say you’re looking for a partner and you’ll be added to the list in the post below this one! That way if you want to join up, chances are solid that you’ll be able to join on in!

I’m super scar-ed of scars!
Better not enter then! Just like you would expect death in a Speed Death Tournament, expect scars in Scarmageddon! If you enter and are unhappy with the results, its all on you!

I’m tough, chief, tell me more!
That’s the spirit! The tournament will begin on Sunday, March 13th! To enter, simply sign up in the thread with your character of choice. The tournament will last for 5 weeks, with the drawing period ending on Sunday, April, 17th! Not like the Light Speed Death Tournament, this will only be one round. There’s no redemption opportunity, you have to do it right the first time!

In the past, we had groups of 5 - 6. This time is no different. You can expect a situation with 2 v 2 v 2. At most, there will be 4 pairs in total, but there’s no guarantee. Working together with a partner should help you produce something, however. The losers are ultimately scarred by the winner of each group.

Do I have to scar everything?
As all other scar matches, you must scar everyone. Prepare for a battle, you need to showcase all characters and scar all characters involved in your group.
I can't be any clearer on this, because even if it's a small scar, something needs to change from beginning to end. If you can accomplish this, you're golden! Otherwise, you're disqualified. So don't be disqualified! Be golden!

However! It is worth mentioning that some of our previous participants took the scars that all of the other artists gave their character. Some artists even scarred their own characters! That is completely up to your discretion (but is a ton of fun!).

I never battled before! Am I still able to join? Could I make a new character?
If you want to make this your first battle, awesome! If you want to make a new character for it, you’re also more than welcome to get someone new in before that time period. This isn’t the LSDT though, so you’d need to actually make the intro pages and go through the standard submission process.

What will happen if I lose?
Then your character will be listed as 'Inactive' until you alter your design sheet to reflect the scar you gained from the winner of your bracket. It’s the same deal as losing a regular scar match, so don’t worry!

Holy Cicatrices! I can’t not join this!
Then get ready to get cut! You have until March 12th to join! Just post who you're joining with (and make sure to post your partner!) Your partner must also post to confirm, but once that's settled you're golden! And remember, if you don't have a partner, but want to join, post that you need a partner and we'll add you to the list!

Can you give me the dates again?
TODAY, THE DAY YOU SIGN UP!
MARCH 12TH, THE DAY SIGNS UP END!
MARCH 13TH, THE DAY THE TAG SCARMAGEDDON BEGINS!
APRIL 17TH, THE DAY DRAWING CEASES!

Now that you know all this...

Whoa, you remember that sick-nasty Christmas Comic? The one that some great members of the site came out for and participated in?  Would you be interested in joining an event like that? Well now you can! I'm opening sign up for the future Holiday Comics for the year of 2016!

IT'S TIME FOR
CINCO DE MAYO!!
It's Cinco de Mayo! You know, the celebration of the Mexicans victory over the French on May 5th, 1862, which had they not won, France would have surely joined the Confederacy and the history of the USA would have been radically altered? No? Anyone?

Pop on the sombreros and pound back the tequila. Dr. Fabulous is hosting the celebrations all across town, so get together and celebrate! As always, only one page of comic with your character(s) of choice participating in the fun is all that's needed, but as you can see from our past events, people have gone and done more, which is always welcome!

"Geez, what do I do? There's so much going on with all the battles and plots I gotta do, will I even have time for this?"
Don't worry your head! All it takes to participate is to have a single page comic of your character (or maybe not!) mingling with the other participants of the event! No nobody characters in the background, we have a great list of participants, use them!

The Christmas Party originally took place at Dr. Fabulous' Apartment and again he invited folks to attend a soiree at his home for the Valentine's Day. Something lighthearted and amusing! It could be as simple as a Far Side-style comic with a single page of a joke, it's up to you.

"A single page of comic? But I want to do more than that!"
And you absolutely can! As we saw in The Christmas Party, we had some members who chose to do multiple pages for their comics. If you want to tell a longer lighthearted story, feel free! All I'm asking for however is a single page of comic. One nice humorous page is much better than three unfinished ones, right?

"Mr. Pitchman, how can I get in on this greatness?"

Why it's so easy, reader! Just sign on up using this handy-dandy form! All you need to fill in is your name and the characters you want to use! As this is a large group BB, living or dead are perfectly acceptable, so feel free to go buck-nasty as you like.

"Where can I see the participants? I need to show off all the background characters, you know!"
The full list of participants can be found here on this spreadsheet. If you're signed up, you're all set. If you want to back out, just let me know.

"Where do I send this to?"
Just so no one is confused, on the 1st, just send me your pages, either at roflqu@gmail.com or my Skype (RoflQu) or just link me and send a PM on here. I'll take care of the actual uploading part and just making sure stuff edits together if there's a running gag (such as Hood striking out with everyone except Venus).

"When is this due again?"

CINCO DE MAYO COMIC IS DUE FRIDAY, MAY 1ST!

We want it to go up for Cinco de Mayo, after all! I hope to see everyone who wants in signed up! And that goes especially for you new folks! You're more than welcome to participate in this with new character and/or your deceased characters if you so wish!

SO HOLIDAY, WHY DON'T YA!

THE INCUBATOR / Suicide King
« on: Oct 20, 2015, 11:28 PM »
So I'm about half way done with this, figure I'll share what I got so far.

This gentleman’s name is not Suicide King, it’s his title.

When people get deeply in debt with the Casinos and I mean really deep in debt, they’re given an option from the Casinos and their Investors to try and alleviate that debt by becoming a Suicide King.

Becoming a Suicide King means they have to take on jobs for the Casinos and their Investors, either mercenary work or most usually, assassinations.

Generally speaking, people aren’t Suicide Kings long, since, they’re killed on the job more often than not. Suicide Kings are basically a revolving door of as needed labor. The Casinos don’t mind terribly much, since if their Suicide King dies they have a life insurance policy out on them which basically covers the debts. However, if a Suicide King lives a while longer then no problem, they’re doing work for the Casinos and taking out targets that have drawn the Casinos and their Investors ire. It’s a win-win situation for them.

Suicide Kings aren’t usually given much form of training, since it’s not too hard to shoot a gun and kill someone. However, the basics are generally spoken of. There's never a fixed number of Suicide Kings.

If you find yourself on the wrong side of the Casinos and their Investors, it's best to be on guard. Of note, it’s recommended to watch out for the Suicide King who’s always dressed with his Buddy Holly glasses and bowties. Because that one is real good…

News & Events / Jiminy Cricket! It’s 24 Hour Comic Day!
« on: Sep 09, 2015, 03:23 AM »
Yes, it’s back again. A nationally recognized and participated event, 24 Hour Comic Day is here to challenge comic artists in one of the most exciting and brutal challenges that they can take on. It’s been 5 years since we started doing this on entervoid.com, but this homegrown holiday is even older than that! Created in 1990 by Scott McCloud (author of Understanding Comics and Creating Comics) as a challenge to Steve Bissette, it has grown to become a staple challenge for all comic creators to tackle and use as a method for improvement.

As it happens every year on the first Saturday of October, this upcoming October 3rd, 2015 is going to be 24 Hour Comic Day!

For those of you unfamiliar with the rules of 24 Hour Comic Day, the participating artists involved in the “holiday” has to make 24 comic pages within an unbroken span of 24 hours. Or, if you're doing an infinite canvas comic (think same size panels, like Achewood, Garfield, etc…) 100 panels in an unbroken span of 24 hours.

So, what does this mean to you? Well, it means on Saturday, October 3rd, many of us will also participate in our very own 24 Hour Comics! Some of us will be doing it for the first time and other of us participating in it all over again! Like previous incarnations of 24 Hour Comic Day, we’ll have ourselves a 24 Hour Deadline and we'll be paired together with other artists in Battle Royale-styled Sparring Artist Battle, for us to upload and enjoy the fruits of our labor!

"Explain how this works!"

The creator (that's you) may gather research materials and drawing tools beforehand, but you cannot put anything on paper (such as designs and character sketches) until the 24 hours to begin. These are all original plots and thought up on the spot (or at least you should, you’d be surprised at how creative you can be on the spot!) Any breaks (for food, sleep, or any other purpose) are counted as part of the 24 hours. You've got your 24 hours and you'll stick to it!

And don't work ahead of time neither, only dingles cheat on 24 Hour Comics Day! It’s not for bragging rights; it’s for your own personal challenge! You’d only hurt yourself!

"I never get picked for Volleyball. It hurts my self-esteem and makes me feel bad!”

Everyone can participate! No harm to anyone who wishes to participate! You will not have a hit taken to your score or rank, this is all in good fun! If you get to the 24th hour and you're not at 24 pages, that's okay! We want to see your noble failure! I'll repeat that again, THIS IS NO-STRESS FUN. YOU WILL NOT LOSE SCORE OR GAIN SCORE THROUGH THIS EVENT. IF YOU DEFAULT OR DO NOT MAKE 24 PAGES, IT IS OKAY. IT IS JUST TO CELEBRATE AND PARTICIPATE IN 24 HOUR COMICS DAY!

“What if I don’t finish at all? How can I live with myself?”

That’s okay! You have two options. You can either quit it entirely at the 24 Hour mark (the Gaiman variation) OR you can continue working until all pages are completed (the Eastman variation)! Both of these are “noble failures” and as long as your intent and attitude is there, that’s what really counts!

“Will there be a win or loss?”

Not at all. It won’t be recorded, it’ll just be put up for us to enjoy!

"Why is this being announced a month in advance?"

In the past, a lot of people told me how they had wanted to participate but were unable to due to short notice. As a result, I'd like everyone who's interested in doing 24 Hour Comics Day have a chance to do it, so hopefully we can plan a month in advance. Whether this means you decide to do it a weekend or two before the event or you actually take time off of work to participate is totally up to you. You can do it later too, if you'd like! It’s more about the challenge, even if you can’t take the opportunity to do it on the actual day.

"I thought you just said no working ahead of time!”

I meant working on the comic ahead of time over the course of multiple days. If your schedule doesn't match up with the event and you decided to start earlier while adhering to the rules of 24 Hour Comics Day, that's totally fine! I encourage you to do that if it works better for you.  (Especially if you’re also participating in the Monster Mash!)

"Can you impart any sage advice for 24 Hour Comics Day, Rofl?"

Do NOT waste time scanning. You can scan and upload your work the next day and will be just fine. Otherwise, you're just wasting your own time setting it all up. So, October 4th, upload then. Or get some sleep first, whatever your priorities are after spending 24 hours awake.

Don't stay awake waiting for October 3rd to start, you're going to be dog-dead-tired in the middle of the day. Make sure you sleep earlier and set your alarm for about 11:40 or so. 20 minutes to maybe get some coffee, hit the bathroom, pick out your music, and set up skype calls/google hangouts, whatever is comfortable!

If your pulse stops, or you’re nauseous, maybe take a break! Don't kill yourself over some comics, that's stupid. Go for as long as you feel comfortable. It’s pretty rare to actually reach 24 pages, but as long as you’re enjoying yourself, that's what's important.

I wouldn't recommend trying to do both traditional and digital! Pick one or the other and stick with it.

I can say that we all had a good time with in the prior years and some fun short comics were made, even if the majorities weren’t finished. So, honestly, join on in. It's a lot of fun and won't cost you anything but a day of your time.

THAT DAY IS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3RD, FOR 24 HOUR COMICS DAY!

SO SIGN UP WHY DON'T YA!

VOID Characters and Comics / THE WELCOME COMMITTEE!
« on: Aug 01, 2015, 07:33 PM »
So, during the 2012 Void Invitational Tournament, we had a thread called the Welcome Committee that basically sought to highlight the individuals of the tournament that were knocked out so that they could fight more and be integrated better with the site, thanks to the efforts of our veteran artists and regular artists.

We don’t have an Invitational right now, but we have new members from the last two years that haven’t had any battles or only one battle. That needs to change. So, here's a PSA to you everyone that was unaware. There's some people in need of battles, again!

According to the leaderboards at the time of my writing this, we have 62 active characters, give or take.  I think we can spare some people to fight these folks. This list does not include anyone who’s got an established character on the site already and made someone new, this is exclusively a list for those new members with one and under battles period. I'll be starting with members who joined in 2013.

If for whatever reason you wanted to be added to this list and you’re not already, let me know and I’ll put you down for it. If you don't want to be on this list because you're busy or disinterested in battling at this time, then just say so and you'll be removed, no problem. And if you’re new yourself, don’t be afraid to challenge anyone!

What a handsome list of people, huh? If you're an active member who's willing to challenge any of these people or are willing to be challenged by any new people, then you can also sign up here and I'll make a little list. Or better yet, take the initiative and shoot one of these people a challenge or a private message! Don't get a response after a week? Move on and try someone else!

There's no guarantee that every one of these people are around, but it can't hurt to try, right?

What if you can't challenge because of other engagements in your life? That's alright, too! Just get critiquing and voting, because we all could use more of that on here.

You're seated at the precipice of greatness! The Princesses are now pretty, the Tags have been teamed, and all that stands between you and glory is . . .

SCARMAGEDDON II: THE SCARQUEL

What is this scarbulous thing?
An old idea first run by myself and Qyzex, Scarmageddon is an all-inclusive scar match single-round tournament, and yes, this means you can enter. Everyone who applies is in the tournament. Scarmageddon does not discriminate!

I’m a limp-wristed 50 lb weakling who is scared of scars!
Better not enter then! While the original had an “off-limits” scar list, this one will not. Just like you would expect death in a Speed Death Tournament, expect scars in Scarmageddon! If you enter and are unhappy with the results, its all on you!

I’m a big strong brave (wo)man who routinely chews nails, tell me more!
That’s the spirit! The tournament will begin on September 1st! To enter, simply sign up in the thread with your character of choice. The tournament will last for 5 weeks, with the drawing period ending on October 6th. So unlike the previous Prettiest Princess Tournament, this will only be one round. There will not be multiple rounds to this, so do your story right the first time!

People will be broken off into groups of 5 – 6. If there are leftovers, we will do our best to accommodate. This could potentially result in groups of 4 (but you’re tough stuff and can roll with the punches!). The losers are ultimately scarred by the winner of each group.

However! It is worth mentioning that some of our previous participants took the scars that all of the other artists gave their character. Some artists even scarred their own characters! That is completely up to your discretion (but is a ton of fun!).

Do I have to scar everything?
As all other scar matches, you must scar everyone. Prepare for a battle, you need to showcase all characters and scar all characters involved in your group.
We can't be any clearer on this, because even if it's a small scar, something needs to change from beginning to end. If you can accomplish this, you're golden! Otherwise, you're disqualified. So don't be disqualified! Be golden!

So what kind of battle is this again?
It's you against however many people is in your group. You're not working together, you're scar matching them.

Can I make a new character?
If you want to, that's entirely up to you. You have until the end of sign up to get them in the site. If you do that, then great, you're in.

And if I lose?
Then your character will be listed as 'Inactive' until you alter your design sheet to reflect the scar you gained from the winner of your bracket.

Holy Cicatrices! I can’t not join this!
Then get ready to get cut! You have until August 31st to join!

SO SIGN UP WHY DON’T YA!

The Queen is dead, long live the Queen! In her most glorious will, she decreed that her kingdom shall go to any princess able to take it, henceforth that princess shall be known as. . .

THE PRETTIEST PRINCESS!

In an event known as . . .
THE 2013 PRETTIEST PRINCESS DEATH TOURNAMENT!

image generously donated by Underwoodwriter and generously colored by MyHatsEatPeople

So just what is it?
As requested by majority vote, The 2013 Prettiest Princess Death Tournament is this summer's main death tournament. Bringing back the themed tournaments of the past, this one focuses on princesses. And as the name says, this is a DEATH tournament, as in DEATH MATCHES. 1 week death matches to be specific! You will kill or be killed, it's the law of the jungle in this tournament!

Who can participate?
Anyone! Even if you've never had a character on the site, you can also participate in this tournament! New people are just as welcome as current and veteran members! Unlike the Speed Death Tournament, your character must be a princess in some way. THIS IS A REQUIREMENT.

On the flip side, intro pages are NOT A REQUIREMENT!

When is this tournament starting up?
To give the remaining weeks in May to The Black Stripe and to allow proper time for people to join up, The 2013 Prettiest Princess Death Tournament will begin on Monday, June 3rd. That means you have until Friday, May 31st to submit your character to the site and sign up in this thread!

How long will each round be?
Unlike the recent Tag Tournament, these rounds will be 1 week each! Speed Death Tournaments are hard-hitting fast events, and this is no different! Don't sign up if you can't commit to these times, because there's NO EXTENSIONS, NO CANCELLATIONS, ONLY DEATH AND TAXES. Don't sign up for what you can't do!

And for everyone who doesn’t want to read big words and sentences that I just wrote,
READ THIS BELOW:

Unlike the Speed Death Tournament, characters in the Prettiest Princess Tournament need to be a princess in some form! Everything else is up to you! Go wild!

Applications will be taken until Friday, May 31st. Over the weekend, the mods will vote on character selection for the tournament.

Round One will begin Monday, June 3rd.

Each round will be one week for drawing, one week for voting. Your opponents will be randomly selected.

All Matches are DEATH matches... thus the "Death" in Speed Death Tournament. This means your character will probably die! You have a good chance of it! Only the winner survives!

3 page minimum per comic!

Intention of joining can and should be made below, but all Applications will need to submit their character through the actual submission process by May 31st , at the latest. This is done by going to Manage > Create a Character.

Not meeting requirements will result in automatic disqualification from the tournament for the Artist as well as the chance to be shamed by all of their peers.

The tournament winner will have the title of ‘The Prettiest Princess’ added to his/her character profile on the Main Site as well as the great relief of surviving many harrowing rounds against tough competition.

FOR THOSE NEW TO SPEED DEATH TOURNAMENTS:
Speed Death Characters only require a Design Sheet and Bio, but do not require an Intro.  Since the uploader will not let you pass without Intro images, please use the Design Sheet for all fields. You can do intro pages as well if you want, but they are not at all required. Most people create a new character for Death tournaments, though existing characters are fine as well, as long as they are a princess in this case.

Applicants apply below with Artist Name, Character Name and Character Thumbnail.

HELP DECIDE OUR FATE!!

We really hope you’re all enjoying Tag Tournament 2013. I have to say, it turned out very well. I'm going to preemptively give a big thanks to everyone who not only signed up, but participated and we hope you're all excited to see what our finalists are going to do with this coming round.

However, since we’re winding down, we’ve been thinking about what kind of events we would like to do for early summer. We’ve ended up with a surplus of good ideas and we’re going to pass the savings over to you!

We've decided to come out with a public choice for everyone on the site to help steer the fate of the site and decide the next event we do.  We’re currently offering these flavors of tournaments for you all, so vote in the poll, and discuss your reasonings!

HERE'S YOUR CHOICES!
Note: All tournaments listed are death tournaments.

The Speed Death Tournament, an enterVoid.com mainstay, the Speed Death Tournament has been done nearly every year in some form since its inception. We’ve had a year break since the last one, which is why every choice on here is the SDT in some form. However, we’re also offering the original version because it offers the most variety and freedom, allowing characters to range from the heroic to the heinous, the strange to the beautiful. Each hard-hitting 1 week round brings the law of the jungle straight to your computers, kill or be killed!

The Tag Death Tournament, a new idea based on the success of the 2013 Tag Tournament. Sharing much of the same rules as both tournaments, this would be the first time such a thing has been attempted. There’s never been a tag death match ever on the site and this would be a terrific way to welcome it on the site. You and a partner would create characters and fight each 2 week round on your way to the top or to your deaths.

The Sentai Tournament, our most recent themed death tournament, a favorite of many and one of our most discussed themed tournaments in recent years. Sentai, or Super Sentai, is a Japanese term to describe a group of customed heroes that may also pilot mecha, such as Kamen Rider or Power Rangers. All participants in the tournament would be characters in that vein or villains in that sort of vein. It follows standard SDT formula with 1 week rounds. Save the day and save the world!

The King of Monsters Tournament, our original themed death tournament, was originally created by fantastic artist Elio, every character being monsters, giant and not as giant. Example being Kaiju monsters such as Godzilla or King Ghidorah. It is somewhat unique in that each rounds of the original were 2 week rounds. That may or may not carry over to the new one, but what you can guarantee is that there will be big battles!

The Prettiest Princess Tournament, our newest themed death tournament, suggested by me. The Prettiest Princess Tournament is a balls to the wall death tournament to discover who the Prettiest Princess of them all is. There’s only one requirement for the characters in this tournament, your character must be a princess. 1 week rounds in this fierce regicide! Only one Princess is the Prettiest!

So, these are our options for our summer event. We’re leaving the choice in your hands (naturally if there’s a tie by the end of our time period, the inhabitants of the mod boards will split the tie). You only can vote once, but you'll be able to change your vote at anytime. This poll will run for the next two weeks, ending on Saturday, April the 13th.

This is unprecedented in giving you the choice, so choose well!

Also, don't worry if your choice doesn't win! That doesn't mean it will never come up again, it just won't be our summer event this year! Discuss in this thread and lets see what we get!

News & Events / GRAB A PARTNER! THE 2013 TAG TOURNAMENT!!
« on: Jan 23, 2013, 05:00 PM »
Void is an old website in terms of the internet. It’s strange to think about, but it really began in 2000. With so much history, it’s inevitable that milestones would be reached. One of our own tournaments recently touched such a milestone. I’m talking of course about the 2003 Tag Tournament. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the tournament and yet we’ve never seen any Tag Tournament since and for that matter, we’ve never seen a tag battle since!

We think it’s time to change that.

THE 2013 TAG TOURNAMENT!

“Well, what’s it all about Mr. Pitchman?”

The Tag Tournament is a not a death tournament. It is a tournament for people to use their ‘main’ characters and team up with a partner to take on all others until they crush and conquer all other teams!

“I have no partner but I really want to enter!!”

See the next post, we will absolutely try to help accommodate people such as yourself! But because of the nature of this tournament and since it requires you to network and get a group together, we’re extending the sign up deadline by longer than usual to help give you guys more time to do that.

“Do I have to be an oldbie veteran to join?”

Not at all! With so many fresh new faces, everyone is welcome. However, there will be a selection process involving the Council and Think Tanks to determine who will be in each group.

This next question comes from our very own a bad idea. And he writes, "Dear Rofl, So do both artists have to turn in individual comics? Or can they collab on a single comic together?"

You and your partner are free to pair up in any capacity you choose. The collab could be writer/artist, artist/colorist, first half/second half, or anything in between. You are only limited by what you two decide for yourselves. You can change it each round, it's entirely up to you.

“Holy Cow! This will be the event of the year! I gotta join!”

Well good news! You’ve got until Friday, February 8th to join in! Once that happens, over the weekend the Council and our gorgeous Think Tanks will determine who gets in and we will start on the following Monday, February 11th.

"Do I have to post differently than if it was a regular tournament?"

Not really, you just have to post the character you want to enter and who you're partnering with and their character, too! Your partner also needs to post to confirm it (otherwise you look like a weirdo and I sure don't wanna partner with some weirdo!).

Example,
Hey, I'm using Dr. Fabulous teamed up with Wynn by JAZ!
Quote
and then JAZ would post
Yep, I'm using Wynn and I'm teaming up with RoflQu who's using Dr. Fabulous.
Quote

(No Dead characters, just so there's no confusion.)

“Anything else I should know?”

Be careful who you choose to make your partner and be careful when joining up. It’s one thing to fail yourself, but it’s another to not contribute to a team! So be careful when signing up! This isn’t to scare anyone off, but it is to make you wary and on your toes!

Each round will have a two(2)-week drawing period, with a three page minimum, and a standard week break between each round.  The 2013 Tag Tournament Round One begins Monday, February 11th.

Art Jams / The 2012 Secret Santa Jam!
« on: Dec 04, 2012, 03:16 PM »

THE 2012 SECRET SANTA JAM!
rofl make a new picture you lazy dick.

The holidays are here and for the third year in a row we are graced with the Secret Santa Jam. We have so many new people this year and I'm certain a ton of you don't have any idea about this.

Perhaps you're saying to yourself, 'RoflQu, you're pretty late this year!' And yes, you're right. I totally forgot about it this year. HOWEVER, that doesn't matter. You're all big boys and girls, you can do an illustration in a week or two.

SO, HERE'S THE RULES.

1. You sign yourself up with a picture of what Void character or whatever you would like to receive this Christmas. It doesn't have to be a character from void or whatever, but that's usually the safest bet.

2. When sign up is over, I'll randomly pull names out of a hat (or however I do it.) and place you up with a random artist to draw for and a random artist who will draw for you. (Or maybe I'll just fuck over everyone involved and make you all draw stuff for me. We'll see how Christmas-y I'm feeling by the time sign up ends.)

3. If you didn't turn in your gift last year, you're not welcome to sign up unless you do what you were supposed to do last year. (This rule only applies to 2 people currently.) Likewise, if you don't turn in your gift this year, you're not allowed into the 2012 Secret Santa unless you turn it in at some point.

As for specific date to keep track of. . .

Sign Ups will end on December 11th! If you don't list anything specifically, then we have to assume your default choice is just a void character. Do not get angry if you are stupid and are not specific and get a void character picture!!

The whole magical randomization and mailing process will occur on the 12th - 13th of December. Why 12th - 13th? Because I can only send so much out and then I have to wait a while. (It's a mailing spam blocker.)

And the Drawing Period will last from 12th of December to the  23rd of December.

We're talking at least 10 days. You can absolutely do that, come on folks. Once you finish your picture, don't mail it to your Secret Santee. Mail it to me via void or send it to me at roflqu@gmail.com or if you're one of the many people I actually talk to on Skype or AIM or MSN, send it to me there. I talk to enough of you people that I'm around pretty much everywhere.

Finally, I will be posting everything on the 24th of December and you will get to see all of the lovely little arts that everyone drew for everyone!

And finally, God's beautiful concept of human error lives in all of us, so I will do my best to manage and I beg of you to bare with me. I'm having company this Christmas, so if you don't get a hold of me or whatever, just send me an e-mail and don't freak out.

SO MERRY CHRISTMAS WHY DON'T YA!

(And this year I'll just link to everyone who sign's up post's.)

News & Events / The 2012 Wacky Races Tournament!
« on: Aug 01, 2012, 09:54 PM »
You've seen people fight to the death, you've seen newcomers from around the world duke it out, you've seen tag matches, sentai battles, giant monster fights, people fight to return from the dead, and you've even seen the city fight off an armageddon...

But have you ever seen a race?

THE 2012 WACKY RACES!

An anything goes race across the world!

What even is this thing?

Our very own Qyzex has finally helped give the push to this tournament. Based off the Hanna-Barbera cartoon of the same name, contestants will be racing against one another across the world, over many different environments to see who the greatest racer is.

THE SETTING

It's a race across the world, through any and all types of environments. What those environments are is completely up to you! Race through a frozen tundra, the arid desert, or perhaps through a steaming jungle. It's your choice, as the artist, to decide where you race!

THE BASICS

Okay, so like I said, this is tourney is based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon Wacky Races. Not familiar with it? Then here, get educated!

That wasn't enough for you? Maybe it wasn't quite the setting or example you were looking for? Not quite your style? Well, Wacky Races has a lot in common with the very popular Anime movie Redline.

So how's that for you? Sound good? Excited? YOU SHOULD BE!

THE RULES

The player count for this tourney is capped at 16. That means 4 rounds, each round consisting of 1 week drawing time followed by one week of voting to pick the winner.

Like a normal tourney, you will go 1 on 1 with another contestant, (though in the grand scale of things, it's a race against everyone).

So how do these comics work? Well, mostly however you want! However, you must include you and your opponents characters, and their vehicles, and a race of some sorts, of course.

The comic doesn't need to show your opponent losing, or you winning, or anything like that. It's up to the artists to decide how this race goes for them!

Sign ups end on the 10th of August! The tournament will finally begin on the 12th of August!

SO YOU WANT TO ENTER?

Here's what we need to see from you:

- Enter with your already existing character, simple with your name, character name, and icon, and a drawing of your character's vehicle, colored (Name of vehicle optional).

And it should look something like this!

- Qyzex with Slime in the Drippy Dasher!

Simple, right? So what are you waiting for? Get your wheels waxing and your driving gloves tightened! Sign up begins today and ends on the 10th of August! The tournament will finally begin on the 12th of August!

SO SIGN UP WHY DON'T YA!

1. Video320 with Jules Saphir in the Demonic Dune Buggy.
2. LeFred with Lucy in the Psychic Mobile.

It is time for a brand new Voidcast! After a 9 month break, we're reviving the Entervoid.com Podcast. We'll be working on a rotating roster, so expect new things each time! Anyways, enough gabbering from me, here is the first episode (slightly delayed due to my involvement in the tournament.)

The New Late VoidCast!

May 30th, 2012
Featuring RoflQu, Pi, jho, and underwoodwriter.

After our short commercial break, our Spring Tournament has appeared!

THE 2012 VOID INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT!

The Void Invitational is a new Tournament looking for fresh faces and even fresher blood!  Been wanting to get in?  Come on in! Have a friend you've been trying to get to join?  Send 'em over.  We're opening our doors with a tourney with new people in mind!

Entervoid.com is the premier Internet comic battle site.  We've been pitting artists against each other in sequential combat for over seven years now and are looking for new talent!  You can come here to compete, improve, and/or just mess around.  It's all up to you!

Normally to "enter void", you'd need a bunch of images and a biography of your character, but for this tournament only, you can skip all that if you'd like by providing us with some form of proof of your artistic skill (deviant page, links to gallery, etc.)... but having pages doesn't hurt.

The Details:

* You can only participate if you've never had a character or all of your characters are currently dead.

* To enter you need to post your character's name and a design sheet in this topic and also submit them through the site (You must have an account and be logged in to make a character).... OR YOU AREN'T GETTING IN.

* Entry through the site must have a design sheet, a bio, a 50x50 icon, and some proof or artistic skill. Sequential art (that's comics!) being preferred or most welcome, but failing that some proof of ability is required.

* You must also put your design sheet in the intro page categories. The site uploader does not accept entries with no intro pages, so make sure to include those in the submission!

* You have until Friday, March 30th to enter. A month is plenty of time to get your entry ready. The tournament will begin on Sunday, April 1st. (Not a joke!)

* Artists are given one week each round to complete a comic with a minimum of 3 pages.

* The winner of the tournament will be declared Grand Poobah of the Void Invitational 2012.

* All characters who get into the tournament become permanent characters.

* It is recommended that you read the FAQ and check out the comics competition in action to get a feel for the site.

* Even if you aren't participating, tell your friends.  Let everyone you can know about this, the more the merrier. Really, spread the word!

* We're aiming for around 16 - 24 people! If you see around that number our mission is complete, but don't feel nervous about advertising it OR joining it still!

* Once again, sign up will end on the 30th of March! The Tournament will begin on the 1st of April!

*IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR WOULD LIKE TO MEET AND GREET WITH FELLOW VOIDERS, PLEASE COME TO THE OFFICIAL ENTERVOID CHATROOM! WE'RE MORE THAN HAPPY TO HAVE NEW FACES AND GUESTS JOIN US!

Art Jams / The 2011 Secret Santa Jam!
« on: Oct 30, 2011, 01:51 AM »

THE 2011 SECRET SANTA JAM!
why yes i used last years picture again how nice of you to notice.

1. You sign yourself up with a picture of what Void character or whatever of yours that you would like to receive this Christmas.

Mail it to me via void or send it to me at roflqu@gmail.com or if you're one of the may people I actually talk to on Skype or AIM or MSN, send it to me there.

SO SIGN UP WHY DON'T YA!

News & Events / The Great Page Tag!
« on: Sep 28, 2011, 11:31 PM »
I know a lot of you aren't doing the SDT right now and perhaps you wanted something different to do at the moment. Me and a few other people decided to try this idea out, so I wanted to share it with you all in case you wanted to do it, too!

The Great Page Tag

Not  a tournament, not a royale, but a little thing that everyone is welcome to try out nonetheless!

“Wait, what is this?”

The idea's very simple (or at least it's more simple then I may make it sound.) Let's take 5 artists and pair them up together. Each artist will contribute 3 pages total to the story being told. These artists will go in a daisy-chain. Example, artist 1 draws page 1, artist 2 draws page 2, etc etc. This will circle around for artist 1 drawing page 6, artist 2 drawing page 7.

Easy, right?

“Uh, isn't this is just a collab beyond battle? What'd you need to tell us this for? Are you trying to take credit for this?”

Okay, so it is just a collab beyond battle. However, you may or may not have been thinking of doing it in this way beforehand. I just was going to do this with some people and decided to announce the idea so if you liked the idea, this thread could be used to find others to collaborate with!

“So, are there any ground rules?”

Police your own group. If you do or don't want to do something ridiculous with your characters, by all means. It's up to you.

“Wait, what if we wanted to do 5 pages?”

That's up to your group. Everyone should put in equal effort and pages. If you wanted to do more pages, why aren't you just doing your own beyond battle?

“Is there anyway we could efficiently write our script without having to send private messages back and forth?”

As a matter of fact, there is! Try out http://typewith.me/ , it's an online multi-person editable word document. You can also chat at the same time during it!

“I really don't know anyone on this site. Could you pair me up with people?”

Absolutely. I'll keep a 'no-group' list and help pair up people. Certainly if a group adopts you or you wanna go into one, go for it.

“What! I don't wanna group with THEM!”

Then don't.

"So, when is this going to take place?"

Me and my groups are gonna have it take place during October 16th to the 31st. You can do it however you like!

"So, no deadline?"

Once again, it's all up to your group. Maintain a contact and talk it out. You're responsible for telling Toast when you guys are ready and for how long or whatever.

News & Events / The 2011 Death Royale!
« on: Jun 07, 2011, 10:01 PM »
For those who seek to make this summer a summer of blood, look no further than our own dangerous borders of Void City! For years the Speed Death Tournament has taken hundreds of lives and for years on it will take hundreds more, but once in a blue moon people are taken away in such large numbers and in such ferocity that only one term can be given to this gory event. . .

THE DEATH ROYALE!

10 CHARACTERS, 1 SURVIVOR!

"Alright, what's THIS one about, Mr. Pitchman?"

The Death Royale is a combination of both the Speed Death Tournament and the Battle Royale in a hellish mixture of gore and blood upfront. This is a good situation if you're the kind of person who can't take the short deadlines of the SDT but want to kill someone, if you've been dying for new characters death matching, or if you just prefer long deadlines to work with!

"Oh, like the Speed Death Tournament? So this will all be a bunch of short battle and I can die and go back to doing whatever it was I was doing?"

If long deadlines aren't your thing, think hard about joining this event! This will be one 6 weeks long battle instead of a series of 1 week matches ! If you don't know if you can handle working on a comic for such a long time period without lollygagging for the majority of it, then ask yourself if you're going to really be able to do it! It's going to just be one battle that will last from June 19th to July 31st!

ONCE AGAIN, THE DRAWING PERIOD FOR THIS WILL BE FROM JUNE 19TH TO JULY 31ST!

"Say, what's with this 10 characters stuff?"

Like the Battle Royale, there's only 10 slots available for this death tournament! Unlike the last Battle Royale however, there will not be any second Royal Rumble going on here! Space is limited for mean sonsabitches to make mean comics!

"So what's required material here if I want to participate?"

Like the Speed Death Tournament, new characters will only require a Design Sheet and Bio. Intro pages are optional and not required. Since the uploader will not let you pass without Intro images, use the Design Sheet for all fields. During the sign up/join period, submit your character through the main site, otherwise you won't be counted among the participants and won't be accepted!

"Rofl! I don't like making new characters! Can I prove my existing character's badassitude by submitting them to the Death Royale?"

Most people create a new character for Death tournaments, however, existing characters are acceptable as well. But be mindful! If they die, they're dead! There's a reason it's called the Death Royale. It's highly recommended that you make a new character for this!

"Is this first come first serve?"
No, this is not first come first serve. Make a proper design sheet, sign up. There will be a vote on who gets in.

ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS NOT FIRST-COME FIRST-SERVE. THERE WILL BE A VOTE FROM THE MODERATORS AND THINK TANKS ON WHO WILL GET INTO THIS TOURNAMENT!

"Man, I gotta get in on this! How much time do I have left again?"

JUNE 8TH TO JUNE 18TH! SIGN UP AND SUBMIT!

THE NITTY GRITTY FACTS:
* Character Applications for this event will be taken until June 18th.
* The Drawing Time for this event is 45 days/6 weeks drawing time, beginning June 19th and ending on July 31st.
* This is a DEATH match. The "Death" in Death Royale is literal!
* 7 page minimum.
* All Character Applications will need to submit their character through the Main Site by June 18th, at the latest.
* The final selection of characters will done via vote by the think tanks, mods, etc. etc. of Void.
* Comic MUST feature all 10 characters in some way, shape, or form.
Not meeting requirements will result in automatic disqualification from the tournament for the Artist as well as the chance to be shamed by all of their peers.

Certainly you can draw your characters. But, can your characters draw themselves? Or anything at all?
