The Fishwyrm [Updated(?)]

The Fishwyrm [Updated(?)]
« on: Nov 01, 2014, 10:13 PM »
Hey everyone! Long (like, 2008-long) time lurker, first time poster. I think I remember that a while back, background comics were made optional - are they compulsory again? I just want to clarify. HAHA DISREGARD THAT I SUCK DICKS. Anyways, enjoy!

Note: I'll put in a little person size reference in there later. I forgot.

Some dragons have offspring with humans... some dragons have offspring with other things.

Introducing the Fishwyrm. One, of some, of a kind; All the advantages of being a fish, with all the advantages of being a dragon!

Strengths:
Hydrodynamic!
Aerodynamic!
Shiny!
360 field of vision!
Breathes fire!
Prehensile whiskers!
It's gigantic!
Imitates human speech!

Weaknesses:
It's gigantic!
It's fishy anatomy renders it unable to bend its neck down or up!
It looks ridiculous!
Narrow streets!
Catwyrms!
Things standing underneath it!

Hey there, and welcome to Void! First off I gotta say I totally like this character already haha, I think there's a lot of potential comics for this creature. I hope to see more of it soon.

As for the background comics, if you're referring to Intro Comics, then yes, those are mandatory to make. You're probably thinking of the Invitational Tournament, where intro pages weren't required, but the event is long past.

Whoops, maybe I was thinking of the invitational. It's been a while, haha, derp. I'll get started on his intro pages then. Thanks!

With non-human characters, we like to see evidence that you can draw humans as well. Easiest thing to do is put them in your intro comic. And yeah, you need to draw those to get your character accepted. 2-4 pages that demonstrate your mad dragon fish comic drawing skills.

I hope he's super huge cause we need more giant creatures around here. I like what I see so far, keep it up :)

Oh my god, if you don't get this character in I'm gonna be so mad. This is the best.

Just wanna pop in and say that I'm not dead, I'm just dealing with a bunch of school applications and other work this month and early in December, so it's slow-mode with the comics :/

Uploaded half-done Page 1 for giggles. And validation. I wasn't hugged enough as a child. Feel free to pick it apart.

Also, is the website lagging like crazy for anyone else? Is there a way to fix this or is it a bandwidth issue?

1) More plz
2) I'd like to see some more refinement to the first panel. I can see where you held shift to draw straight lines, and it makes it look a little less natural. Just a little bit of shading and getting rid of those thick lines would give it a much more finished feel. The girl herself is really well done; the way you did her hair is gorgeous! Most of all, I really really really want to see that last panel shaded hahah!
3) I haven't noticed lagging. Let me know if it continues, because if it is a site issue I'm the one who should handle it (or make Kevin do it hehe).

1) Yes ma'am

2) BUT SHIFT IS MY FRIEND. Also those are all on my sketch layer on multiply, which I plan on getting rid of.

I actually have a huge problem drawing straight lines because my hands are twitchy as shit. I always thought it was normal until my girlfriend pointed out that she thinks that it's totally not fucking normal, so I guess it isn't normal? I dunno. ):

Also my tablet is horrible. Something something blames his tools.

3) It's been happening for the past week for me? Like, it lags really bad; Takes 2-3 minutes to load any one page, and it's not happening for any other site. I'm not sure what's going on pilz halp.

I'm using a low-end wacom I don't even know the model, honestly. It works, so hey, I don't know why I complain.

Anyway, finished the first page for real this time, tried to make it look less hold-shift, as suggested. I have no excuses for being so slow other than being lazy, really. Sorry.

EDIT: Also the website is still lagging like crazy from my end. Turning on my VPN fixes it, but I thought I'd let you guys know.

Turning on my VPN fixes it,...
That definitely means there's a problem with your network. The site can get slow sometimes, but it's normally pretty quick for me.

More on topic, I don't know what you changed since your last post, but I hope you finish the rest of your intro comic so we can get you submitted, accepted, and kicking ass in comic matches! :)
