News & Events / !SHORT & SWEET!
« on: Mar 22, 2019, 09:43 AM »
Hello ladies and germs, we are proud to bring forth another season of SHORT & SWEET! That’s right, folks, we are back at it again with your irregular dose of Artist Themed Comics!

We decided to shake things up with this next theme to get the creative blood flowing once more. This time around we are proud to introduce our

FIXED SCRIPT CHALLENGE!

What the heck is a fixed script challenge?
Well, here’s how it works. We want you to interpret a script just as an artist would working alongside that of a writer in the industry. What better way to sharpen those artist skills than working from a pre-existing script? Every artist who joins up will be given the same script to draw from. The kicker is, it’s up to you how you wish to follow and draw the script. While there are panel descriptions, we encourage you to express artistic freedom and shake it up with an interesting take of what is written. How do you picture it? What angles, panels, and perspectives are you visualizing?!

Well, what script are we going to working from?
Good question, kiddos! We have just the script that suits our purposes!  In order to keep everyone playing fair and square we won't release the script until sign ups end.  Yet what we can tell you is that the theme of the script is HORROR  So if that gets you going then you've come to the right place.

What kinda deadlines and stipulations are we looking at?
You will have till Tuesday 3/26 to sign up below if this theme piques your interest! The script will be announced when sign ups close. The event will then start the following day! We are looking at a two week drawing period. The script is also a 5 page maximum! (It wouldn't be Short & Sweet if we didn’t limit the deadline and page count!) The liberties are yours on how you want to pursue drawing this comic. Strictly inks? Experimental coloring? Work from a limited palette? Want to pull out the screentones? It’s all welcome here as long as you draw with the script provided. All artists are welcome to participate if you have drawn a comic previously for the site! There is no limit to how many people can join!

News & Events / SHORT & SWEET!
« on: Oct 09, 2018, 09:40 AM »
The seasons have turned and Autumn has arrived. With falling leaves, chilled breezes, and sweater vests, means new changes and that means new challenges!

The Short & Sweet format makes it's return for a new generation!

Short and sweet? Sounds delicious? It's damn tasty! A battle royale style event with artist comics that revolve around an interesting and challenging theme.
What that means is artists who participate will submit an original Artist Match type comic with a maximum of 5 pages. You will NOT be allowed to use any VOID characters for this event. The comics should reflect the spirit of the theme, however you choose to interpret the theme is all up to you!

So in keeping with the spooky season and the times, the theme we're going for this time is:

INKTOBER!!

Inktober? Well, what we mean is this, in keeping with the spirit of the event that takes the internet by storm annually, we're asking artists to craft a fully inked black and white comic. Thats's right, kids, no color! We're not here to take sides in the digital vs. traditional debate. What we encourage is that you challenge yourself! Take the opportunity to get messy with traditional inks, or digitally abandon all those pesky colors! Have fun as an artist and make something that works for you!

Need some inspiration? Then we recommend using one the many prompt lists that already exist for Inktober. Use those to guide your comic themes if you'd like, or any of the alternate themes like Goretober, the gloomy october sky's the limit!

Challenge yourself!

Requirements:
A black and white 'inked' comic (Gotta appreciate those inks!)
5 page maximum! (That’s why it’s called “Short & Sweet”, baby!)
No VOID characters, original Non-VOID works only!

Not meeting all of the requirements will result in disqualification.
The Winner will gain an official event title declaring you as the Inktober 2018 Champ for ALL ETERNITY.
Plus bragging rights, and maybe I’ll buy you a beer one day? Who knows?!

Signups begin Tuesday 9th, 2018 and will end on Saturday 13th.
Event will begin the following Monday 15th.
The event will last two weeks.

I just scored a Friday ticket for the con. The days for the con are October 5th-8th this year. Are any voiders gonna be going this year? If not, are any east coast rats trying to do some meet-ups on Saturday or Sunday? Grab coffee, draw, adventure, grab beer, get rekt?

Figured I'd start a thread to see if anyone is interested in hanging!

Figured I'd start this since I didn't see anyone talking about it recently. Who is going to this? Anyone?

Art Jams / David Bowie Tribute Art Jam
« on: Jan 11, 2016, 07:17 PM »
As most have you heard today we lost a cultural icon in music and art. This man was a hero of mine and I never did put into consideration that a day like this could come. So I thought it would be fun to celebrate his life with an art jam. I don't know if many people are into his music, but it sure changed my life. So draw him, paint him, draw your characters dressed like him, whatever you want. Just have fun and let's dance! RIP David Bowie

So here's the thing, most of you know me. I have been lurking on this site since like late 2004. Finally got the nerve to submit a character about three years ago (Margot Seraphina) and have been trying to go hard on getting my comic game up to par!

Well, about two months ago I jumped on a plane across the country to visit my friends and help them with their newborn! My friend got me the ticket, but it was only one way. So I am stranded in Portland, Oregon and its due time I made it back home.

I had an idea, something involving two things I love to do. One, travel, two, comics. If you guys are totally interested in hearing what I got to say just check out my link. I'd appreciate it greatly!

(P.S- Not sure if this fits in this thread or not, so please move me if it doesn't! Thanks guys)

I had one of these like 6 years ago. Then I disappeared and stopped scanning in stuff and went back to lurking like a creeper. Here's some sketches I'm working on for upcoming battles and random other junk I draw.

More when I feel like scanning in stuff or getting pictures of them.

THE INCUBATOR / Homeless dude

Working on a new character. Just dropping this sketch in here to see what people think. Working on a design sheet currently and i have thumbs drawn for the intro pages. This dude was once a well known journalist who fell upon hard times when void got destroyed by a damn meteor. Now he's a homeless alcoholic but a poet at heart.

THE INCUBATOR / That graffiti writer again
« on: Jun 14, 2013, 01:11 PM »
Yeah, I still exist and now seems like the perfect time to reintroduce the character I wanted to get in with years ago. His name is Jerrard. He does graffiti. He's a void native and he's bummed that his city and all his artwork was destroyed yet again.

I took a couple peoples advice about trying to darken up my inks so it is so faded. If anyone has any suggestions as to how he is dressed or really anything I will gladly take it.

Intro Pages soon.
