so, i'm new to the site, and after reading and browsing for a bit, i decided to go ahead and throw what i have so far in the incubator. i still have to throw an intro comic together, but the character is very well established for me. i know him, his back story, personality, relationships, all that. he has an entire universe he exists in, some of which i might eventually try pulling into the void, but for now i'm just starting with aDx.
aDx (pronounced "odd,") is a resident of the Foreverwood, the thriving jungle that has reclaimed everything on the planet save for the last crumbling remains of civilization, a megalopolis known only as "The City." He is what is known as an X, one of a group of revolutionary individuals whose eyes and mind are open to the reality he was born into. Their drive, their purpose, is to stave off the decay and corruption that has overtaken a once great civilization; they are fighting the what would be the inevitable death of society and all sapient life. In short, they are the universe's immune response to the disease of entropy.
More than others of his kind, aDx is prone to violence as a solution to problems. He is sarcastic and cynical, and at war with his natural impulses. While he's driven to do the right thing, to help those in need when he can, he views this urge as a weakness and constantly justifies it to himself by claiming selfish motives. His belief that mankind isn't worth saving is pivotal to his self-image, even while all his instincts drive him to fight the stagnation and darkness that's choking his world.
Physically, he is incredibly powerful and resilient. Like all X's, his freed mind and connection with the natural world allow him to tap into strength unknown to typical residents of The City. Given enough time he can recover from nearly any injury, and even among his own kind his speed and fighting skills are unmatched. His katana and plated arm guards (which he refers to as "arm busters,") are forged from foreverwood, a material only X's can manipulate. They cut switches from the tree that gives the Foreverwood its name and begin training with the raw sticks. Eventually the wood fuses with the spiritual essence, the soul of the wielder, taking the shape of their ideal weapon. When the process is complete, the weapon cannot be used or even held by another individual. It can't be broken or damaged anymore than the spirit of the warrior that owns it.
aDx also has a unique connection with the guardians of the Foreverwood, the Draks. They are very intelligent animals of varying shapes and sizes, their minds and attitudes the only thing indicating they're a coherent species. All draks understand speech, and they all understand each other, but an X can typically only understand a Drak that has chosen the X as a companion, and even then only after time and familiarization. For an unknown reason, aDx understands all Draks as if he were one of them.

that's pretty much what i have for the bio and everything so far, with plans for more detailed pics for the design sheet, obviously. i just wanted to get this up for now, start getting feedback. one thing i'm considering is adding aDx's companion drak to his character. her name is qglplx (rhymes with "toggle flicks,") and she adds an entertaining, if not integral, dynamic to aDx's interaction with the world.
anyway, i'd appreciate any thoughts or feedback!
