The rat-a-tat-tat one looks like a sticker i would slap all over the place. Haha, nice stuff, real clean looking. Like Elio said, mess with the levels in photoshop to get the whites/blacks to their fullest, that should make it all the more nicer.

Yessir!
This brush pen is super neat. It's a copic multiliner, nothing really extravagant, but it's wonderful! I've always inked with just a ballpoint uni-ball, but it tended to smear and the line consistency was boring.

I was about to go full-digital with finishing my character but now that I found the power of the non-smear brush pen, I'll stick with doing it by hand and letting the computer do the touch ups.
Very nifty to know!

(I've also noticed that every image I post on these forums is always too big, I better fix that habit :D )

For the size thing i'd reccomend any images posted be no larger than 600px wide, that generally seems to be a good width and i dun think the forum cuts it off either.

wow, this stuff looks great! ink brush is awsome if you can master it, or at least get competant.

i did this with one of those refillable japanese brush pens, resisted the urge to use microns the entire time.

the anatomy is wonky now that i look at it though.

sig too big.

You're the fucking man, Helftan. I'm loving the wood design and the contrast of black and white from everyone living to the dead man.

There were some posts on page 1 about brushes being superior to brush pens, I agree but it's so much easier to use brush pens. When I use those it feels like I have control of what I'm doing. But when I use a real brush, I feel clumsy and its frustrating.

Maybe I'm using the wrong brushes or something?

Since ur all the ink experts what do you guise suggest to get better control of the strokes?

It takes practice, but Script Liner brushes:

can give you some GREAT control, but again, practice is necessary for any techniques to work fully. Honestly I think it's way easier to use a brush than a brush pen, since you do have more control over your tools. I've had a lot of luck with smaller Chinese calligraphy brushes, but not for extremely fine linework, just for quality lines.
Be nice Jack.

You can get control with a brush... but don't think that you'll get the same kind of control as any type of pen, because they are two different things.

Ha, yea that's the brush I was talking about....It works okay, but my lines keep getting all shaky. Also, when I try to push down to get a thicker line, the brush just moves and its not the kind of line i want, whereaz w/ a brush pen, the tip is thin and pushing down gives you this awesome fat line. Only problem is the ink isnt as dark or nice as the real brushes.

Maybe I'll try some Sumi-e brushes, Those look pretty much like how my brush pen does, but most regular paint  brushes I've tried that look similar dont give that fine point when you use it lightly......

Yeah, I like my sumi-e for when I'm doing heavily brushed work, but the script liner is brilliant for intricate and regulated linework, and the shakiness goes away as you learn better control. But pretty much any short-haired brush should allow you some good line variation, give it a shot.
Be nice Jack.

Can't sleep much tonight, so I decided why not try this.  Generic face.

Thought it would be fun to try a robot

But then decided HEY why not make the robot have some sort of purpose other than 'being a robot'

Though my scanner completely destroyed the shades on the last one. Dx
Used A flat brush, and a nib, no initial sketching other than the little guidelines made in ink.

Thread necro for justice!

or rather, a post that is relevant.

Guess what Slade got for his birthday? Two round (0 and 4) brushes and some bombay ink...

and this is the first pic using just the 0...

First 2 drawings done with some new goodies I got

this one was obviously me just seeing how the ink did

I'd like to eventually do a comic with it since it gives a more lively feel than my fake ink brushes in PS

I use it as well. I was intrigued when I read that Skottie Young used them for his art, so I went and got one for myself. I hate using anything but that to ink now, haha. So pretty much, if you see an inked drawing from me, it was done with that brush pen, no question about it.
