...

It all starts with a Painting.

It is called "False Chanterelle." The artist's name has been lost and it is hundreds of years old, though it has been remarkably preserved. It is extremely valuable, shamefully perverse, mildly significant, and not very good. None of those are the reasons you've stolen it.

The reason is that, on the night of its theft -- and it must be stolen, not borrowed, bought, or given -- on the night of its theft, if you hang it on the northern wall of a room bathed in moonlight, it will create a portal to the Maze of the Blue Medusa. The Maze is said to be a place of fabulous, unbelievable wealth and incredible magic.

"False Chanterelle" has traded hands within the seedy underground of the Great City of Voidheim multiple times. Some have become fantastically wealthy with the plunder they've taken from it... others have never returned. Your plan is to be in the former category, among any other reasons you have to enter the Maze of the Blue Medusa.

All of you know each other. All of you believe in the basic competency of your teammates at their chosen professions. You all worked together to steal "False Chanterelle." Some of you have probably worked together before, too. And you are moments away from hanging "False Chanterelle" on the northern wall of this room, bathed in moonlight.

Mark me as Interested. I'll wait to see how the party forms up before deciding what I'll be playing.

I'll bite. Good research for my own play-by-post, after all. Looking at Rogue and Warlock. Is that Artificer class out yet, too?

The officially unofficial Artificer is available here, still in playtest mode at DMsGuild. I think it's pretty spiffy though. (I don't think its changed at all from the version on the Wizards of the Coast site, here)

Uuuh. I have been quite interested for a long while to participatr in a D&D game.

I'm a total NoobNewcomer though. I have read a bit here and there, but I am not sure I really know how it works.

Is there something any of you recommend reading/watching as a starting point?
Don't wanna drag the party because of my lack of knowledge. ^^;;

I'm gonna draft out some characters ahead of time, but before that, are you allowing the homebrew Gunslinger Fighter archetype? Here's the PDF: http://www.dmsguild.com/product/170778/Gunslinger-Martial-Archetype-for-Fighters

ABI - Gunslinger looks good! Approved

Elge - When I get home today I can find some helpful links, but actually. I think the pace of play-by-post is good for learning, since you're not "on the spot" like in a live game. That skill will come later.

I'll find you on Discord later and I can help you get started!

I wanted to ask, cause it's been a bit since I've played plain old DnD, and I've never actually touched 5e before, is there a good source book or webpage with the information on the various classes and races for this system? I'll wait to see what I'll actually play based on what other people want to do cause I can be a bit more flexible with playstyle, but I do wanna familiarize myself with the rules material a bit before it kicks off

Here is the SRD, which has all the character options available in the core book: http://www.5esrd.com/
There are additional races and classes in a few other books, of which I own all, so if you need assistance let me know!

You're also going to need to pick a background, which plays a big part in designing your character, and which the SRD unfortunately only has one of. I've got a handful of the books myself so I should be good there.

I'm curious, is the Blue Medusa adventure more combat-heavy or more talk-heavy? I'm looking at a Rogue Mastermind, but if it's more of a dungeon crawl, Swashbuckler would be the safer pick.

If anyone wants to talk character ideas, hit me up on discord. I'll be keeping my eyes on the 5E channel in the Void Tabletop server, too, if you'd rather talk there.

Though there is combat--potentially very deadly combat, too--it has a heavy social/exploration/puzzle aspect which I love. Masterminds should find their skills put to use.

...Welp. My character is going to die. XD

Also. Is there a healer class that isn't directly linked to religion? I mean, I have nothing against it. I just would prefer playing something like Final Fantasy's White Mage.
If it ain't an option, I'll pick Cleric as my class no problem. ;D

You could choose the alchemist class and go with the Apothecary archetype, which heavily revolves around healing. Just be warned whatever spell based healing potions you craft will only be effective on yourself and will lose potency if attempted to be used on another party member. I'll send you the Alchemist class file over on Discord.
(Just hit me up with your Discord username when you can).

I should be elgesugha#4718

I am not sure about the Alchemist Class. I kinda want especifically to heal others, and act as the support.
Any information on other classes is appreciated though, thanks for the file before hand.

Classes that have access to healing spells: Bard, Druid, Ranger, Cleric, Paladin.

Of the classes with healing spells, only the Cleric and the Paladin are divine in nature. Bard is a potent support class with many healing abilities as well as the ability to skew dice rolls in favor of their allies. Druids are a well-rounded spellcasting class with equal parts support, defense and offense. Rangers are primarily a damage-dealing class, but is able to learn a handful of spells to augment their own abilities or to provide some extra party utility.
