I want to go this year! I almost got to go last year but it didn't work out because of work and money.  This year will be different.

I had this page (I am redoing my entire ch 1 because  I didn't save the files large enough for any other use than posting on websites (Fixed this problem now) with tones, but I removed them for now. I want want opinions on what would look good on my style for tones.  Should I be minimalistic like I'm doing now, or should I try and add a lot of tones to my lineart to make it pop more?

Think I got it now.  It's a png now atleast, and transparent when I open it in PS.  However, when I copy image and paste in PS it has a black bg, is that normal?

Still working on scheduling my self better so I can pump out pages quicker without a dip in quality.  I script the whole ch but edit alot of it in the midst of drawing as well as finalizing things.  I should probably start penciling more than one page and then inking the pages all in one go rather than focus all my efforts on one page at a time.

Just ordered mine.  Hope you guys sell a ton and can't wait to get my copy!!

I plan to get my webcomic hosted here eventually.  I'm shooting for summer of this year, since I won't be able to get much work done on it during schooltime. :/  Anyways, its called Tainted Eden.  Without spoiling too much, its about a young woman, Lotos, who seeks a dryad rumored to live in the woods amongst her small mountain village of St. Aine.

Her best friend and her search the woods one day and stumble upon the dryad, only to have it turn feral on them and attack Lotos, injecting a mysterious seed into her hand.  The seed is impossible to remove without killing the host, so Lotos is forced to live with it.  Many events unfold shortly after, all of which are huge spoiler material...So, let's just say Lotos eventually realizes what the seed can do and how it can help her achieve a goal she's intent on completing.

My main focuses in the story will be setting a dense atmosphere with a great sense of place and world-building and the characters; their inner thoughts, dreams, goals, demons, etc.  I already have planned out atleast 5 major arcs, though the story won't be overly long.

I get inspired by other comics, music, nature, and video games that focus on atmosphere and have interesting art styles (Zelda, Silent Hill, Super Mario Bros., and the older Resident Evils are primarily my vg influences).

I want to create and maintain something memorable and unique with lots of great moments, characters, and locations. :)

I believe scripting and having a good idea of what you want to draw several pages in advance is a great thing.  I try to be flexible, though, and am constantly editing dialogue and making pages work better with a draft or two.  I do thumbnails, but find doing a page once through roughly or semi-roughly can help me wrap my head around what I want to do with the page.

Jobs / Re: Who wants to get published on Revolt
« on: Jan 18, 2014, 12:20 PM »
I am extremely interested in doing this but right now isn't a good time for me.  I still need to finish up some classes and bring my completion rate of pages up to pace.  I'm pretty slow at finishing work as of now but I'm working towards getting work done quicker.

I have a question, though.  As for 'color spreads' or color pages; can we just convert them to grayscale for use in the magazine?  I understand the publication will be b/w but grayscale colors and tones are fine too, right?  (Probably an obvious question).

Like I said though, I'm totally interested and beyond willing to commit but right now is not the time but sometime in the near future I'll be ready for this.

COMIX!

Pinups:

Angie:  Thanks for the crits.  I'm definitely trying to push my poses further than they are now.   I don't want stiff figures anymore and am making effort to improve them.  Tryin' to be looser among other things!

Wade:  Thanks for the ideas, I'll keep them in mind for future pages.

Now I want to push my colors a bit more and so far I've figured out that I need to stop using the flat ended copics and start getting more brush tipped ones.  So far I've amassed quite a few brush tips but for some colors I'm stuck with flats and it really shows.  Any tips besides using brush tips to improve my colors?  Thanks. :D

Yeah I've put insane amounts of time and thought into this haha.  I was working towards being a tattoo artist earlier this year, but I really don't think its my calling so I'm buckling down and working on comics.   I feel way more confident and skilled than I used to be.  I feel like I can tell a good story now and make sequential art work. :>

I actually REALLY want to submit the webcomic I'm working on.  I just want to get alot more pages going before I try that, though (Only have seven so far).  With college ending for a month or so I should be able to produce more pages and get a good start on this webcomic.

Here's what I've got so far:

Not a fan of the last page.  It feels too empty to me.  Can anyone critique that one especially?
BTW, thanks Ransom your crits were awesome I agree about your observations and will definitely keep your words in mind going forward.  I hate leaving big panels open and empty unless it has some meaning and/or reason for it.  So I'm trying to fill my panels but not 'overfill' them with unnecessary details that will hurt the flow or readability.

Thanks for the crits, Wei.  I'll be sure to invest in those items asap.  Been broke because of college recently, but I should have some money soon.  It sounds interesting to me.

4 comic pages I did recently:

I have gotten better, so I'm defiantly planning on getting some comics done soon!  :) Just been too OCD about getting everything right in my sequential art, so I've only done drafts recently.  Gotta buckle down and finish something!

Amazing work!  Especially like the girl with the purple hair and jacket over the dress.  Classy.  Love your character designs and background work too.
