As you may have seen, a Void Anthology is in the works and it's going to need a cover! If you haven't heard about it, you can read all about the anthology at
http://entervoid.com/board/index.php?topic=11786.0 The Prize
the winner will get their work as the cover which is a nice way to show off and get your work promoted.
All of the covers you guys make will show up in the book, but only one will get to be the actual cover.DeadlineJanuary 5th, 2012The deadline has come and gone, if anyone still has an entry they're hanging onto and wants to squeeze in you can, just show me that you have something.Who Picks the Winner?I will be choosing the winner. I will be consulting the council for their opinions, but I will have the final say. No amount of kittens, chocolate, coffee, or fanart will be able to influence my opinion. I will be choosing based on color choice, clarity, how eye catching it is, solid execution, and how appropriate I feel it is for the book. (because of this, I will not be making a cover myself)
Requirements-Entry must be in color and done in RGB
-Must be 300 dpi
-Must be 7X10.5 if it is not a wrap around
-You may do a front cover or an entire wrap around, information on wrap around covers can be found at
http://ka-blam.com/printing/index.php?page=Specs_trades-You may do the text if you choose so, if you do, it must contain "EnterVOID Anthology Volume 1" on it. Text must be clear and fit the aesthetics of the cover. So obviously no scribbles/comic sans.
-Collaborations are fine, just don't use this thread to set them up.
Here is the part that will separate the weak from the strong! The big challenge with this cover is the cover cannot be character based. This is because I want the book to feel like it's one big communal project. A sweet pin up of Agent Black and James riding on the back of Angela Rudell in her monster form as they fight a herd of the Baron's zombies does not reflect community. Try to create a design that you feel represents Void as a whole, it can be as simple as your interpretation of the city.
In the event you do want to do a large city shot, characters are fine, I just don't want them as the focus. If you do use anyone else's characters, you must have them fill out this form http://www.hbreckelcolors.com/images/contractrough.pdfThe only other case where characters are allowed is if you do a shot of a ton of characters. This is to just prevent someone from doing a pin up of 5 characters doing cool shit. Again, this is a representative of Void as a whole community. And when I say a ton, here are exampleshttp://entervoid.deviantart.com/gallery/?set=22547652&offset=72#/d9nfsvhttp://entervoid.deviantart.com/art/VOID-Banner-epic-13280973?q=gallery%3Aentervoid%2F22547652&qo=87http://entervoid.deviantart.com/art/Epic-Poster-Jam-Entry-144235439?q=gallery%3Aentervoid%2F22547652&qo=74Or you can try to create a new crest like Lysol's here
If you wanted to do something that focused around Void, here are some great examples of comics with covers that fit that criteria. Again, you can include characters in this sort of cover, but notice they are not the focus, they are part of the environment. It's a far cry from a flashy pin up of two characters stabbing each other
