News & Events / Re: The 2013 EnterVOID Fundraiser!!

What's this? I have been revived just to pledge $35 in the last minute, just because!

I'd like a Male Medium shirt, TL Bot sticker, small logo sticker, and close up logo pin.

Hopefully I won't die again, or stay several years inactive just because!

Mostly Marvel's Civil War titles. I've been considering picking up either Fables or Transmetropolitan.

Well actually, the way it worked in class is that you'd actually reveal EVERYTHING as though you were handing this character to an editor, not a reader. It's good to include unknowns to give a character intrigue, but part of this exercise is knowing how to fill those unknowns so you don't just have blank parts of a character where there should be content.
I get that. But Kotori has a point. Most of us are readers to the others, and at least for myself i'd rather keep some details to myself about the whole character. However it is not to be said that one should just fill "unknown" on every area that you don't want revealed. I think it's also a good excercise to write at least something that does not necesarily go into excrutiating detail about the character. It could help people try to exercise being concise about their character and just giving out the necesary, instead of submitting legal-sized bios.

Heavans Ever Lasting Light...

If I can't seem to have found the time for photos to work new perspective and dimention into my panels then maybe I can do this.

I'll try to make my next post in here. But what if my character loses all of his mystery? Like after finding out everything about everyone in the Marvel Universe alphibetical series. Went on to other underground velvety stuff. Anyways if doing the home work won't deprive him of his mysterium and will give him browny points on his next attempt to smash through the door of VOID's fighting guild...

 I'm under it.
Ah, no no no. See, you don't have to completely expose your character here. You can still omit details that you might not want to reveal just yet. I think that's part of the exercise really. This is not about revealing your character, it's about giving it depth.

Critique of Leon (by Reef)

Quote
Psychology:
Moral standards: Based on loyalties. Will stand next to them wether it's right or wrong.

The description's a bit vague, but from this can I assume this man is bound by oath and service? It's not a bad thing at all, but it seems like he has no morals of his own when you put it this way.

Time period: (Not quite sure how to answer this one. It is very confusing to me.)

I probably should elaborate on this one more. Time Period Psychology refers to how the times affect the way people think and act. People in the 16th century think the same way people think now, and people 50 years from now won't think the same way we do now. I guess it's a bit hard to pinpoint in Void City's pseudo-modernistic setting, but sometimes it can be useful in finding what makes a character different (or similar) to the society he is in.
Yes, i think i do have to rephrase the moral standards. I should say that he will do what he belives to be the right thing. And that even if a friend decides to do what he may consider to be wrong, he will help in every way possible. He will disagree with that point of view and feel discomfort in having to help out, but it's his way of being. So his loyalties are stronger than his own convictions, but it isn't that he has none.

It also seems i was not the only one with doubts about that last one. But i think i understand now. An example would be something like a person living in the year 20xx while behaving like it was feudal japan (to give a radical example). If that's the case, then Leon would have to be modern as well.

Ah, well at least it's a break of trying to decide a proper final look for Leon and reviewing of the story overall. I'll give him a spin with this.

Physiology
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Height/Wieght: 5'9" / 160lbs. (seems to weight more than he should due to the artificial stuff)
Hair/eyes/skin: Dark red / Golden (artificial) / light skin tone
Posture: Straight and well balanced (artificial spine)
Appearance: Dresses casually. His hair seems unruly. Has mechanical hands and arms.
Defects: Every artificial thing in his body. Eyes, arms, spine, ect.
Heredity: Red hair is a family trait.

Sociology:
Social class: Low. High prior to disowning.
Occupation: Unemployed. Will do anything to get by.
Education: Home schooled. Well versed in first aids and paramedics. Good knowledge on business handling.
Home life: Disowned two years ago. Recently left home city in order to evade further trouble.
Race: Human
Religion: Presumed catholic.
Place in community: Black sheep of a high class family.
Political affiliations: None in VOID. He is still too new to the city to know much about it's politics.
Amusements/hobbies: Drinking. Long nights out and general playboy-ism prior to accident.
Time period: Modern, semi-futuristic. (seens as VOID stands somewhere along those lines)

Psychology:
Moral standards: Based on loyalties. Will stand next to them wether it's right or wrong.
Ambition: Personal gains. To regain what he has lost.
Frustration: Being rejected by his family.
Temperament: Somewhat cocky.
Attitude towards life: "I refuse this life given to me. I will forge my own."
Complexes: Feels "unhuman" due to artificial parts in his body.
Ambivert
Abilities: Can generate shields with his altered arms. Also has enhanced upper body strength. Slightly better eyesight than most.
Qualities: Determined and loyal.
IQ: 105
Time period: (Not quite sure how to answer this one. It is very confusing to me.)

New here? / INTRODUCE YOURSELF
« on: Oct 15, 2005, 06:00 PM »
Well it's my turn i guess. You can call me JP, but i usually go around the net as Reef. I heard about this place through DA (i think from reading through lunaria's page). although i have been drawing since i can remeber, i feel like i have a lot to improve and that is the main reason that i joined. I wish to focus myself to improve my skills as much as possible. Soon i will be submitting a character to VOID, as soon as i get through finishing the desing sheets and all that. I need the practice anyway, i have been out of it for a few months already -_-.

Oh, and for those deviants that wish to look at my rather empty page the address is : reef.deviantart.com. Don't be shy to leave comments! Bye all.
