CoolStar's Incubator

This is the deign sheet for my character Chie Otomushi.

Please let me know if there's anything I should change, like if the pose is not right for a design sheet or anything else.
I'm working on her intro comic right now.

Hey! Love that you're throwing down in the Incubator so soon too, Chie's looking good!  For the design sheet this is really all you would need, unless there's some special details about the character that you would want to be represented in comics (like if she has any hidden features important to her as a character, or if there's a design on the back of her clothes, etc.).  Secrets are totally ok and don't need to be represented, you can reveal anything like that as you go no problemo.

Let's see some comic pages!

Here are the two pages I'm mostly finished with for my intro comic

Looking back at them, I'm worried they might be the wrong size, or the background's not good enough

I've changed some of the colors and added shading.

Also, hypothetical: if a character doesn't get accepted, what do you do? Can you just resubmit it?

Yeah you can resubmit your character for a second review

Lets try someone else. Here is Musashi, a space outlaw in the vein of Mal from Firefly or Gene Starwind from Outlaw Star.

For now. I want to step back and get the pages looking better overall, so I'm going to focus on someone else. Fresh start you know.
I'm not scrapping her just yet.

Here are Musashi's pages (the key lines at least):

alright, this is more like it! The backgrounds help tremendously with mapping out the situation, I would recommend you change the 2nd panel of page 1 to a wide shot overhead so we can see her surrounded by everyone as well as what exactly they are standing on

Looks promising so far! Just keep your lines as clean as you can, take your time and you'll be fine.

First of all:  BOOBS!

It looks like you're capable of doing some decent anatomy, but a lot of what you've shown in these pages is lagging way behind your backgrounds.  That said, your backgrounds in the last couple pages are really solid.  If getting better at drawing people is your biggest problem, you're way ahead of the game.  Backgrounds seem to be your strength, and it's most everyone's weakness.

I'm surprised you guys like the backgrounds so much. I honestly thought I rushed these backgrounds and spent the most time on the characters. And yes, I do need to get better at drawing people, I'm not great.

Page 1 in color, but I dunno. Should it be in gray scale?

I like the color! Just be careful that her blue jacket doesn't get lost in all the blue water behind her. Maybe make the water either darker or lighter to give it more contrast. I'm also confused about what's going on in that last panel. I think the background could help clarify a bit; are those action lines? If it's meant to draw attention to what's in her hand, maybe give it a more colorful pop with a gradient or something to show that it's not meant to actually be something in the background but simply an effect. Other than that, I love how clean your colors are and I think they work well with your inks! Looking forward to more! :)
