Art Jams / Peoplescape Jam
« on: May 01, 2017, 11:46 AM »
This jam is pretty straight forward, based on an illustration I drew recently. Draw a pinup style illustration involving your character (or multiple characters if you choose) alongside the cityscape of Void.

This is great chance to practice your cityscape skills and display how you envision Void City to look (or again, other locations if you choose! It could be Lithium, Caelum City or somewhere else!). Sometimes we don't often get chance. due to things such as deadline restraints, to give character to our environments so here's a chance to go all out.

To get started here is my example:

My Void City is influenced by sci-fi mainly than an existing city. The idea that a city gets destroyed a lot and needs constant rebuilding would mean a lot of variation of shanty/make-shift buildings and more modern buildings (possibly for the elite class). Also, since Void City has such a wide variation of species I like to think you would get a fun and crazy mash-up of all the cultures.

Art Jams / Photobooth Jam!
« on: Mar 13, 2017, 05:34 PM »
it's been ages like maybe years idunno since I started a jam so here's a new dorky one just for fun!

PHOTOBOOTH JAM!

Rules are simple, cram a bunch (or a few) Void characters into a photobooth! Friends, family, team mates or enemies! see how many characters you can fit in to a limited space.

As an example and first contribution:

Art Jams / SQUAD JAM
« on: Feb 01, 2016, 06:15 PM »
There's this Draw the Squad meme floating about on tumblr at the moment I was doing today and some fellow Voider's asked me to make it into a jam SO HERE WE ARE.

The challenge is pretty easy, basically you draw your own (and/or other) characters based on poses or photos people have drawn out, usually pretty stupid - but I also encourage that you make up your own base poses for people to have a go at to keep it fresh and interesting.

These are some examples I was going from by a tumblr user called croxovergoddess

I did a few on tumblr but here's my example (that I coloured for some practice)

and here's another because it makes me laugh.

Jobs / Hat's needs to do commissions to pay her bills
« on: Nov 27, 2015, 03:04 AM »
HELLO VOIDERS.

I know its that awkward time of year where everyone is pretty short changed, but i'm opening some cheap quick commissions to try and cover my December rent/bills, usually I don't have to do this but with Christmas and everything we're really low on funds and don't have enough to cover it. If anyone is able to spare some money for a commission I would be more than grateful.

What i'm offering is £20 ($30.20) full body full colour drawings and £10 ($15.10) full body no colour drawings Below is an example of what to expect from me.

£20 ($30.20) full body full colour

£10 ($15.10) full body no colour

If you're interested, message on this thread or hit me up on tumblr (www.squimoo.tumblr.com) or Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/myhatseatpeople) or just email me at zombieunicorn@hotmail.co.uk - payments through good ol' paypal!

Thank you,

Hats!

Hey everyone!

I have recently been talking to a client about taking up a possible commission producing promotional material for his short film “Losing it”, unfortunately I reevaluated my timetable and I don’t think I’d be able to cope with the workload alongside university and a personal project I’m working on. So I’m passing it on to anyone who is wanting to take up the opportunity. This is a PAID gig with negotiable terms in which you can you can pitch your own rate/charge.

The client’s name is Charlie Hunter and this is what he’s wanting:

2-sided one sheet (1 side film poster 1 side film information) 27x40 inches
Film poster varient 27x40 inches
Front cover for press kit
Web Assets: (specs stated below)
Business cards (3.5x2 inches)

Deadline:

Ideally, Charlie wants the film poster side of the one sheet and web assets (for twitter and Facebook) before the 1st of March 2015 for his kickstarter campaign, the others aren’t needed till later which you can negotiate with Charlie.

What on earth is a 2-sided one sheet?:

A one sheet is is basically a two-sided film poster, one side with the film poster (what your used to seeing) and another with film information (film synopsis, director’s name, etc) which Charlie will provide. They’re commonly used in the pitching and promotion process. To get an idea I’ve linked a page with some examples, though Charlie doesn’t want the film information side to be as complicated as these examples, http://www.hiff.org/content/promoting-films-one-sheet/

Film poster varient:

As the name suggests its just another version of the film poster to be used as one for one of the kickstarter incentives.

Front cover for press kit:

A press kit is a document with loads of film info that’s important for submitting films to film festivals, for the front cover you’ll be able to use one of the designs for the film poster and just reformat it to the desired size (you’ll have to confirm with Charlie what size that is but I think A4).

Web Assets:

For Facebook and twitter, to keep the branding all together they’ll be the same designs you’ve created for the film poster and the variant poster. These are the specs you’d need for each individual piece:

Facebook cover photo banner (851x315 pixels)
Facebook profile picture (160x160 pixels)
Twitter Header (1500x500 pixels)
Twitter background (2560x1600 pixels)
Twitter profile picture (400x400 pixels)

Business cards:

Come on you know what a business card is.

I’d love it if one of you was able to take up this commission since I’m unable to do so, he’s also looking for storyboardist and character designers if anyone is interested in that.

His email is: joecool884@aol.com

Here are some examples of what he’s wanting his posters to look like:

Jobs / job oppurtunity with client! (CLOSED)
« on: Jul 04, 2014, 04:24 PM »
Hey! One of my regular clients is www.derbypleasure.com, they're a South American roller derby website that promote (the sport obviously) as well as fitness work outs (insane, insanely hard work out. I have done my fair share of Roller Derby workouts).

ANYWAY. I recently did a commission for DP with the brief of creating about 20 head shots of roller derby players participating on one of their workout challenges (Retro Derby 2). The head shots were really well received by their audience and he's come back to me asking if I could do 60 new head shots.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to take on this because I have a lot of work to do for uni over the summer. Though I said that I would advertise the opportunity here.

This will be a PAID JOB OPPORTUNITY and you can negotiate your own price with DP, he's a really nice guy too so there's good chance of him coming back to you for work if you do a good job.

OKAY SO

BRIEF: Creating 60 head shots of participants in an online workout challenge, all types of styles and mediums are fine. The photographs will be provided as reference (but be aware, they're taken by the players some of them are a little hard to go by from my past experience, but its not a major issue).

If you're interested or have any questions. email derbypleasure@gmail.com and send him some examples of your work, he's super nice but English isn't his first language (it's Spanish) but it's good enough to communicate with.

For an example of what he's looking for, this is what I did for the last one:

Regionals / NEWCASTLE COSCON 2013
« on: Aug 01, 2013, 12:15 PM »

I know there is a very small community of Brits on this site, even smaller for North England (I THINK I AM THE ONLY NORTHENER!?!) But still I'M GONNA BE THERE.

Oh and I drew a thing.

THE INCUBATOR / Shibachi “Chi” Quinn
« on: Apr 28, 2013, 04:32 AM »
You may recognise this design from before because she's been knocking about a bit. but here you go:

I'll try and keep her bio as short as possible coz I know people hate reading long bios.

Name: Shibachi “Chi” Quinn (She-ba-chee)
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Species: Monster
Height: 6ft 3

Shibachi “Chi” Quinn was discovered by explorers, seemingly abandoned, near some ancient caves deep in a forest. She was adopted and raised by the couple that found her, Adam Turnley and Peter Quinn. Chi was named after caves she was discovered in.

Chi grew up in only the company of humans. Now that she is 23 years old, Chi has left her home to try and find more people like herself, her journey takes her to the Void.

Chi is generally quite a pleasant person to those who she meets but does have a short temper. She is incredibly strong, being able to lift a car above her head with no strain, and has razor sharp teeth with horns to match. Despite her teeth, Chi tends to eat very little meat and is uncomfortable eating around others. Chi doesn’t tend to wear clothes because her thick fur keeps her warm enough but she can if she finds something she likes that actually fits.

Art Jams / Pin up jam [18+] NSFW
« on: Sep 08, 2012, 01:46 PM »
Okay, so, I LOVE vintage pin up girls. So I thought it'd be pretty cool to make a jam out of it Also bloochikin made me do it because of reasons.

The type of pin ups I'm talking about are the reasonably tasteful ones! (Though I'm making this an 18+ because it's still pin-up girls) You hit 'pin up girls' on google and you'll get a billion of 'em. but here  is an example:

Anyway, I'll kick start with my bitch:

Also even if your character is a bloke doesn't mean they can't join in!!

Art Jams / Action figure jam!
« on: Aug 04, 2012, 01:41 PM »
What would your character look like if they were an action figure, would they have accessories and such and if so, what sorts?

I'll kick us off.

Art Jams / Night out jam
« on: Jul 15, 2012, 03:55 PM »
Night out jam! How do your characters spend their evenings? Do they go out drinking, thieving, crime-fighting and who do they spend their time with (if anyone)?

I'll kick off with this drunk bitch.

Most weekends Wizzie's out clubbing and getting drunk. She's currently lost the group of friend's she was with but is quite happily wondering the streets with her booze and singing to the city.

Art Jams / 50s jam
« on: Jul 02, 2012, 09:38 AM »
IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME TILL I CREATED THIS JAM, more beautiful time-travelling continues

Same as the 20s and 70s, bros! Draw up your characters in 50s get ups and situs, more importantly have fun!

My knowledge of 50s fashion doesn't branch very far from Grease, but I thought Wizzie looked a lot like Frenchy with her pink hair anyway, the outfit is based on one of Rizzo's though, because I couldn't picture Wizzie in poodle skirts often. Also 50s Wizzie smokes.

Art Jams / Animal Ally jam!
« on: Jun 19, 2012, 05:22 AM »
So me and Magistelle were talking about animals that looked or had some connection with our characters last night when I was watching a wildlife documentary... So we decided we were going to make it into a jam! The Animal Ally Jam!

Okay, so all you need to do is work draw your character either with the animal your character resembles or could even be that animal - cos drawings creatures is always good practice for artists. It could either be a physical appearance trait, an ability or personality trait! It's entirely up to you, just have fun with it.

I actually struggled a bit with Wizzie's but Magi suggested this a Beta fish sooo!

Wizzie is truly the most well-spoken marine biologist

So go ahead! Give it a go!

Art Jams / 1920s jam!
« on: May 22, 2012, 09:13 AM »
Pretty straight forward, :D draw your characters in 1920s style/inspired get-up! I'll kick start!

Wizzie with Zest's Leland, doesn't matter what era they're in, he will never escape her.

15
Art Jams / World-Wide Web jam
« on: May 18, 2012, 11:45 AM »
Hey bros! I'm reasonably useless at creating jams, but a couple of people suggested I do this SO HERE WE GO. (also the title of this jam is credited to Magistelle coz I couldn't decide what to call it.

WORLD-WIDE WEB JAM

One of my favourite things about Void is not only the community with the artists, but with the characters and because there's no official Void-canon relationships between characters can be different varying on the artist/writer.

So here's Wizzie Belle's Web

Because I'm an unimaginative little fuck, I stole the template design off this web from Scott Pilgrim, BUT NEVER MIND.

The characters don't need to be officially introduced in comics yet! There's a couple of character's in Wizzie's that aren't but are still involved with her story arc (some being background and some planned in the near future). I suppose as long as it's okay with the other artist for you to use their character in your story-arc, yadda yadda, things'll be okay.

Your webs can be as big, small, complicated or as simple are you like them to be!

Art Jams / Character Christmas JAM
« on: Dec 17, 2011, 08:22 AM »
It's the season to be jolly! And with the secret santa on it's way, how would your character celebrate? Let it be Christmas, Dawali, Hanukkah or Yule, what is your character up to?

I'll start off with Wizzie.

Wiz and Vivian River being the best of bros.

Wizzie gives RolfQu's Sweet Itch a present. I'm not called Hats for nothing.

GO FOR BROKE! / Hats' Art (NSFW)
« on: Jul 12, 2011, 12:15 PM »
I thought I may as well get a thread going for my art OUTSIDE of Void. A lot of the time, the comics that I draw are based on experiences I have, but for the past few weeks I've been pretty busy on a comic strip project called "Charlie and Albert E" to be (hopefully) get published in some astronomy magazines. So anyway, I'll just list a bunch of my junk here for now. and update with any newer stuff later. Some of this stuff is old but I still like it.
