For me it seemed like this one was really a battle of personal preference. Some people love the anime thing and Kura\'s had it in spades. On the other hand, some people love trippy nonsensical weirdness. Personally, I\'m not really one for anime cliches and melodrama, no offense intended, apparently tons of people love anime but it\'s just not my thing. Weirdness is a bit more my thing, and the colours and stickfigures and things just look nicer to me, but I wasn\'t terribly entertained.. by either really. Heh, like I said, personal preference.

Oh and one more thing for Kura, consider investing in a brush marker and experimenting with that.  I think it would aid you greatly in your work.

My my... I\'m just starting to vote on battles again and let me say n00bs can say the stupidest things.  And with me cutting it so close to the last minute I doubt my comments will be read, but anyway:

Kura- rather than restate too much what others have already said, I\'m going to be specific on one thing you\'re doing in your art I think you could do better.  One of the eyecatching things on anime/manga characters is the hair.  Whether you do everthing else sketchy I\'ll let others get on your frame for it, but when Veronica\'s hair isn\'t taken care of I\'m a little let down.  Take your time to apply solid black shapes in there and define some the strands with the highlights.  At least for Veronica, neatness counts a lot.

Loved the shoujo manga spoof and for shame to anyone who didn\'t recognize your intent.

Spaggs- As much as I\'d hate to admit, but you artwork here for the most part comes down to preference in style.  Some people here have a poroblem with it while others love it.  I\'d feel I want to say that some the images are blurred/fuzzy and could have had had even more punch, but one might argue it fits better with the surreal quality of the plot.  I\'m having a difficult time of what to make of it.  It\'s like your a hair\'s breadth away from really nailing it on the head for me, but I can\'t really explain how.

Anyway, I don\'t mind so much if the plot is non-sensical and surreal so long as it\'s beautiful.  I think you\'ve managed to do that well enough here.  However, with me even if a plot is non-sensical and surreal I feel really bothered when there doesn\'t seem to be a point to the whole thing.  Anti-climaxes have always annoyed me to no end.  And to add further insult to your own story you write on the last page \'this comic makes no sense\' like being bothered to put anything into some context was too much of a chore for you and your audience.  Your art needed to be matched with meaning.  You had a chance to be really profound here.

Whoa, Kura, That was sweet. Denny reminds me a bit of myself here :p

Oh, and it\'s Denial speaking in that ninth panel. May fault for not making it more clear, sorry. Thanks for all the comments.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHMMMM.........ooookaaaaay?

VN - Your battle was fun dude, it was such a throw back to Shoujo that I had to laugh, plus the emo-ness of Denial and the silly Naruto reference at the end was amusing.  Silly, but good.

Denial - Well obviously I\'m lost, but I liked your art that I saw, and I did kind of like the surreal mood you were able to create.  I didn\'t get...it, really, but still, I only rated you low on the entertainment because...well...it made no sense.  *thumps up*

VOID BATTLES  DON\'T HAVE TO TAKE PLACE IN VOID CITY.

I have been waiting a very long time for the next \"alternate universe\" battle, and in my opinion, Kura brought it out in spades. I love all the crazy little quirks in the comic, such as making Denial emo, making Mize the heart-throb, and making the Asylum Gang the drama club. Congratulations for stepping outside the norm.

As for spaggs, I was left absolutley speechless after reading your comic. It was literally mind-numbingly bizarre. I\'ve seen some other work like it, but not quite like it. The random monologue, the strange creatures, the trip back into reality, even the twisted little representations. Very impressive and very frightening. It\'s good in moderation, just don\'t do all your fights like this, okay?

This was a very difficult battle for me to vote on, but in the end I give my votes to Kura for something easier to swallow. Still, I liked BOTH sides of this fight, and I look forward to your respective works.

I don\'t think it was purposely meant to be sexual. I mean, Kura\'s character is a porn star and all, but it was placed in there tastefully. Sloppiness can be good art. I wouldn\'t even call it sloppy, there are artist who have this style and they put out great things.
I adore it!

I liked the fact that someone took Void and did something creative with it. No rules state that artists are obligated to base their battles soley on established themes. Do something wild and different! That\'s the spirit of creativity. My vote goes to Kura X for that.

Sloppy drawings and seemingly last minute work doesn\'t speak of effort to me. The arrangement of the words, the coloring, the paneling - the filters! I found Spagg\'s comic visualy unappealing. Kura X\'s was a bit messy as well, but more cohesive.

I like boobs and sex as much as the next guy but I can\'t base my vote solely on the fact that the comic contained it. More adult themes don\'t a better comic make.

I had been waiting to see this fight. And in that final waiting here is my opinion:

Kura: Oh for the love of god. No offence and again this is my opinion but, school-girl? How cliche can you get? I was very confused, didn\'t really have a plot, it was just suddenely thrown out there as if you ran out of ideas. I don\'t personally doubt you did because this plot comes right out of all those crappy shoujo manga you got. Were ya desperate? Anyway, I\'m not here to grill you too much on the placing, lets get to the art work. Not some of your best. The lines are extremely choppy an light, making it look very rushed, no real difference from your pencil sketches. The buildings are clean, don\'t get me wrong but the characters just didn\'t look like you put enough, shall we say, love into them? So yeah, that\'s my opinion on you. And the Neji thing, SO not funny or needed. Kinda like the 1st person shooter scene in Doom.

Denial: I like this. It\'s very unique and extremely different from what you usually do which makes it appealing. The crazy little \'chibi\' people make it both humorous and creepy at the same time. I do admit, it\'s confusing but I loved it all the same because sometimes if done right, you don\'t have to make sense to be good. I love how you did the eyes, fantastic. And ending on that note...KITTY!

So yeah, Denial wins in my book too! Good luck!

Wow, I\'m seeing some real creative guns firing off here. Props to both of you for breaking the mold a whole new way. *thumbsup*

Kura : I\'m really no expert on high school romance comedies, but I reckon a few of those empty, simple panels are going to the effect you want them to. I wish there were more shades and values to fill all that empty space, however. Some frames with backgrounds (like those perspective hallway shots) could get a lot more depth from some shading, and that would definately help your \'empty\' panels look \'emptier\' by contrast. Otherwise, you\'ve got a great handle on framework, dialogue placement and pacing that makes this comic an easy and enjoyable read. Good work.

Spaggs : This is definately one of the more unique fights I\'ve seen this month, and I do give you credit for it. The concept is definately the neatest part about this, the almost-poetic cluster of nonsensical dialogue and abstract artwork make this a very artful piece. Although to be true to my aesthetics, I did find the stick-figure-like doodles w/ the blank backgrounds very much lacking for what they could have been representing. Maybe some minor framework or simple shading to \'suggest\' an environment could help the eye believe there\'s more than math notebook doodles and that there\'s art behind the madness. The panels that you DID draw, however, are absolutely stunning. Sadly, between those and the empty stick figures (plus a page of dialogue), I had to give the Quality score to Kura; there were simply too many elements contradicting each other to give me a clear focus on what the art was all about. I also gave you a SLIGHTLY lower Entertainment because while your nonsensical dialogue was charming and creative, sometimes it was too non-sequitir and misleading, sometimes shifting gears too abruptly and putting a bump in that otherwise rhythmical flow of absurdity. All in all your creativity is the high point of this battle, and I give you mucho props, but Kura had you staked for the other two.

Good work you two, you\'ve definately stepped over the boundaries most \'fights\' never seem to cross, and you\'ve both done it well. I hope other people see this fight and comment as well, not many fights get this creative and this deserves more than a glance. *thumbsup*

If it\'s ok, My opinion:

Veronica - Love the paneling styles and especially the neat backgrounds (the one behind Kyra in particular) the story is hilarious and I wish I could read the rest right now. The shading looks kind of sketchy, however it\'s constant and consistency looks far better than a bunch of awesomely drawn yet unrelated styles.

Denial - The story is confusing, yet satisfying. Major points for the artistic styles and use (or misuse) of point of view. However the story was hard to read (or follow if that\'s a better term) switching from sketch chibi thingy to real form + naked kind of threw me off. The text does a good job of seeming like a distracted mind. I hope that\'s what you were going for.

My vote goes to Kura. 1. Because it was easier to understand and 2. it had the only real attack in either comic. I know battles don\'t have to be physical, but that kick was dang near required.

Sorry for the long post, I shut up now. oh and if this accidentally double posts, I\'m sorry for that too.

Well, good for you. While I won\'t ask why you wanted to have a whole \'Alternate Void School thing\', I\'m glad you did something for yourself. A happy artist is a productive artist. And you have to be happy/productive. You\'ve got a full plate. Now, befoere I stop ranod-posting, I\'ll say one more thing...again. Denail wins for crazy storyart. VN wins for uniqueness and solid art quality. Go both of you!

well that\'s a relief.  For once, my comic isn\'t canon because I drew a comic a wanted to draw, not something I HAVE to draw.  As for the \"Get Mize\"-thing, I won\'t reveal anything till my Kyra fight and Battle Royale.

I didn\'t actually mark you down. You jsut lost some Kudos points. Denial\'s over-the-top psycho-babble woulda won over my heart period. Even if he was agaisnt Fuu, it would still be more awesometacular. And, anyways, it was a pretty entertaining story, a breif respite from \'OMG fighter! Attack!!!!1!\' Now, here\'s the real question....does anyone in Void actually go to school? I mean between the gangs made to become Void fighters and crazy teachers *coughblackcough*, who would go? And the quality was surperb, to me at least. It just wasn\'t as intertaining as trying to decipher Denial\'s \'Psucho-Melon-Talk\' Is there like a \"Get Mize\" conspiracy I\'m not in on, Kura?

Well then......you both have my vote for \'Strangest Battle Ever\'. I mean, come on. I understood nothing!

VN-Okay.......well, it looked quite incredible. Reminded me of a certain show I onced watched which I can\'t for the life of me remember its name. Excellent quality, not so sure what I\'d do different, if I had been you. (Like that\'ll ever happen) HOWEVER! You lose points for reminding me of Neji! Oh how I hate thee, Neji!

Denial-I say the whole of the in two words-\'Acid Trip\'. The whole of the \'battle\' took place between the world of Crazy-Chibis and the world of the Semi-Deformed Peoples. The art, as chaotic as it was, seemed to fit the \'plot\' of the \'fight\'. Your insanity shows here. I loved every minute of reading it.

Denial gets the win! Well, in my books....
