oh, Heavens, I know I shouldn't since I was in the last one... but I can probably find time to do at least three pages, and I really need to practice limiting my page count anyhow. what the hell.

I literally can't wait for this to start! :O :)

I know right! Five pages is like my sweet spot, and I've kept this page open and hitting refresh to see who's entering.  I've checked my equipment (sadly, I've lost my brush pen to predation by children, r.i.p.), re-hooked up my scanner, and figured out what paper I want to use.  Been anxiously doing pen tests.  Cleaned and organized my work area.  Freaked out when I lost internet for the last day and a half.

I'm bouncing in my seat.

Only a little while left...and then the Match will posted and the theme released.....AND then the fun can start.

OK...sign ups are now closed and we have 29 artists taking part.....almost there...I have put in a request to Bobo to load the match tomorrow and the theme will be released at the same time.

You may be as literal or aliteral as you like and may represent the theme as you choose....but remember it is required that oyu represent the theme in some manner.....and just as with the page count....no screwing around and playing silly buggers or you will be disqualified and considered a default.

....and to reiterate to those who did read the original post and especially for those who didn't.....the focus of this event is to present a fully realized and completely finished comic in 3-5 pages....no defaults or half-assed work!

The Mystery Theme is 'BLACK and BLUE'.

I strongly urge people to consider and explore the possibilities for how this will be represented....remember you will have 28 opponents all working on the same thing.....creativity and originality is going to come into play as well as style and skill.

'Black and Blue' can mean different things and be represented in many many different ways....don't just automatically go for the easy answer

Would a cover page count as an actual page?
Not that I'm planning one, mostly I'm just curious.

Sorry, just a few silly questions here.. You say NO VOID Characters; but I can still place my story in Void if I like, right?

And how far can I push the "NO VOID Characters"-thing? Can I mention them in text? Can I risibly suggest? Can I draw a VOID Character on a t-shirt someone is wearing?

.. or does NO simply mean NO and I should get with the program?

Re: Short and Sweet
MAY NOT contain the depiction of any official VOID character including but not limited to those characters owned by the artist or his competitors.

it should be completely and totally obvious from the lengthy description I provided in the original post what is required here...I didn't mince words
This is an artist match....no VOID characters AND in this case no VOID content

get with the program

I don't mind answering questions......this event is a bit different.....but I don't like answering questions that I have already made efforts to answer at length

Gosh, We're about at the halfway point to the deadline! Hows about a quick update from our battlers on how the comics are progressing? Let's help keep each other motivated to put out the best we can! No spoilers of course!

For mine, I've finished scripting, thumbing, and sketching the pages. But I've had a super busy working long weekend, and have only gotten two panels inked so far. Fortunately this only puts me 1 day behind where I planned to be at (yay for planning ahead) so it won't be hard to catch up. Those establishing panels can be such a pain...

I'm still so curious to find out how everyone made use of the theme~ But we'll save that reveal for the comics themselves! Time to get back to work!

I was dumb and went "yeah i could take another battle, I'll just do a little one, something equally short and sweet" and then somehow GPS came out of retirement to fight me and my little fight became epic and now I am behind on Black n Blue lol. thumbs are finished as well as HALF of the pencils but I need to get my shit together because this is gonna be some heavy duty inking and I need to start.
