Aww! I wanted to see Journo in ac-sheen

Base - I'd like to see the next comic a little spiffed up, especially in the figures department. I can totally understand when you say you were putting detail into the important things first - I'm like that, too. But if you come to rely on that too much it can lead some really uneven pages. I like your character design sense, so I can't wait to see more from you! Welcome to Void!

Yeah, I saw Journo and I was just like "This guy, he needs to run in a very goofy manner." Of course, aside from that first panel, I didn't give myself many chances to show that off and play with it.

Looking good.  I like that you went for action.  As mentioned earlier by kuro, anatomy and perspective need work.  The helicopter seemed small compared to the characters especially in comparison to Trix.  Though it's probably to do with perspective, if so you need to push it a little to give us a sense of scale.  The scene where Journo is running towards the stairs feels a bit awkward because it doesn't look like he's running away because he looks like he's leaning back and the forward leg is outstretched more than I would imagine it to be almost like he's trying to jump hurdles.

Unless of course you're trying to make him escape in a humorously animated way, then that's a different thing all together.

Great job, and looking forward to seeing what you'll do for your next comic. :D

I see, that's a good point actually. From now on, I'll try drafting the sketches and poses first, then draw the panels and pay more attention to gutterspace and the like. Thanks for the tips, that didn't even occur to me!

As for the flat backgrounds, that was mostly due to lack of time-- I was a bit panicky so I tried to give detail to more important things first, such as characters. I'll have a better grasp of it next round, however.

Nice start, Base. While you're anatomy & perspective could use some work, I give you a lot of credit for attempting to push to dynamic angles here & there. Careful though because a lot of times, the backgrounds would be too basic or simple or flat for the angle we were looking at it. I think the thing that bugged me more about the comic was it seemed like you laid out your panels & then drew the actions inside. Let the actions & flow of the comic control the layout, not vice versa. Like it was overly complex in some spots for no reason & in others there were huge gutters, which kind of read as a pause, in the middle of action scenes. These are things that you have to take into consideration. Ultimately not bad though!

Dammit, I was looking forward to what you had for us, Ham.

Base: Not bad, yer a beginner so for a first attempt you've got a long way to go still. Only thing I can recommend to you right now is to ink your stuff, your pencils aren't very clean so inking will be of great help.

Yeah, I had some trouble working the time frame and getting everything to flow properly. I originally had 5 pages, but become uncertain of my ability to complete them to the degree I wanted, so I squished them down to 4. It definitely took a hit on my quality, but I at least finished it, which was my main goal with round 1.

In the next round, I'll be sure to focus more on the readability and quality. I'm more familiar with the time constraints again, so this should go much smoother for me!

It's a shame you couldn't get anything in, Ham. Hope you at least do a beyond battle or something!

Welcome to void you two, just remember to do your best, the minimum is a mere 3 pages too! And yes I am going to say this to everybody.
