Let me tell you about the thing I did

Let me tell you about the thing I did

So, I know I dropped off the face of the earth for a little bit, I thought I should explain what kept me from doing 100  Somadis battles.

I made this really crappy comic in like 10 minutes. YES, I AM ASHAMED OF THE QUALITY, I KNOW!!!

If I had know this was going to be the most popular comic I have ever made and will EVER make, I would have done a better job on it and signed it.

This thing went completely viral.
It was the #2 image on imgur, it has like 375,000 tumblr notes, it was shared by the guy that does "My cat From Hell", it popped up in several articles on animal rescue, and has been translated into different languages. Printed versions hang in many shelters all of the world.

People started contacting me and telling me that my comic changed their view on what kind of animal they wanted to adopt. Countless people shared their stories of their own 3-legged, one-eyed cats. I made literally thousands of people cry. That alone makes me feel amazing. The fact that I actually made a difference in something that I care about is insane.

So, I decided to start The Tiny Tabby
. The idea was to make cute characters that represented different kinds of less-adoptable cats. They are printed plushes about 10" high. Half of the purchase goes towards rescue groups and shelters. Because imagine what I could do if I actually TRIED.

I set up an Indiegogo campaign with a goal of $1000. In about 20 minutes we surpassed that. The campaign was only for a week, and we ended just under $9000. We sold out of the perks, which was limited to 250.

So, for about a solid month and a half, I sewed 250 plush cats.
Get up, go to work, come home, sew cats, go to bed, repeat. It was really draining. But now most of the perks are fulfilled, besides a few stragglers.

And we have a website and and online store where I can limit the quantities and never be stuck sewing hundreds of cats at a time.

So, the goal is to educate while raising money for shelters.

SO YEAH, if you've seen that crappy first comic, that was me. If you want to see more, you can find it here:

This takes up a LOT of my time, because when we first opened up the shop we completely sold out. But I am extremely proud that I can make a difference with my art. Cat drawings, no less.

Wow, that comic is even worse than I remembered! Funny how that works—you think something's just going to be a little vent comic or something and it'll be appreciated by like 2 people and then disappear, and suddenly famous people are sharing it.

Oh well!

Yeah Bobo, I'm jealous that your viral comic looks so much better than mine.

Oh wait.
