Tonight's dinner was herb bacon covered asparagus. I found a similar recipe online looking for bacon-related recipes. I simply removed the bottom stringy part by snapping the bottoms off (they are saved for later) and wrapped 1 strip o' bacon over 4 asparagus stems. Later added sea salt & herbs before popping them in the oven. It tasted awesome!!!

Asparagus is great baked without the bacon with some light olive oil and salt too. :)

For christmas last year my boyfriend's brother got us a sushi making set with authentic bamboo mats for making rolls.  We only just recently busted it out and created these guys:

California Rolls, Teriyaki Salmon Rolls (did not trust the fish from the grocery store to be edible raw), and some Veggie + Cream Cheese rolls which ended up being the favourite.

And those other two plates are an experimentation in phyllo pastry making.  Mushroom and Leek with Brie pockets as well as home-made spanikopita.  We should've made more because they were the first things gone hahaha.

Also, totally julienned those carrots by hand.  Took ages, but it tastes so much better like that in the rolls.

THREAD NECRO

In an ongoing attempt to eat healthier and lose weight, I have begun cooking for myself rather than just making pasta and feeling fat all the time.

CHICKEN CURRY, TOFU CURRY (for my roommate), and CABBAGE & PEPPER STIR FRY.
- I yearn for redemption, but I'll settle for a breakfast sandwich.

I woke up today, and the weather was shit. Perfect time for soup.

So I set out to make some delicious salmon chowder. Unfortunately, the store didn't have much salmon (And what they did have was horribly overpriced), so I opted for a half-salmon/half-sausage chowder with generous helpings of bacon.

It turned out pretty good. And I got a neat little .gif out of it.
