As a student who has recently received their loan, I did what every sensible person should do.
Bought a shit tonne of comics.
First up is Hellboy: The Bride of Hell and Others!
It's Hellboy, 'nuf said.
It's the only thing I got today that is part of something I have read before. The rest is new and experimental for me.
Something I am looking forward to reading is Kabuki; The Alchemy. I got this purely because it looked gorgeous.
Definitely not your conventional comic. Stoked about reading it.
The third thing I got was Warren Ellis' Planetary Vol. 1, on reccomendation of the store owner.
Apparently it's about Archaeologists of Pop Culture, obtaining relics like Flash Gordon. I'm intrigued but unsure about how much I'll enjoy it.
Because I got those 3 (plus vol. 2 of Y The Last Man for my brother), they let me have an issue of Fatale by Ed Brubaker as I was interested in Incognito (where a supervillian goes into witness protection).
I quite enjoyed it, even though it felt alot like a crime novel. So I'm definitely going to go and get Icognito once I've gone through the other things I got.
And finally, a free comic about eilepsy called Absence.
It was autobiographical and quite informative, but I feel it could have been done better. If you do suffer from epilepsy (I don't) it is quite uplifting in it's overall message.
I shall let you know how I enjoyed the others.
