Gah, wish I had taken the time to comment on everyone's battle, but I'll say here at least that last round was fantastic! And if that's true, this Ivan, Luna, Sketchy battle looks like it's going to be so epic. GOOD LUCK YOU FINAL THREE!!

I'm just a little peeved that I was able to put a lot more time in the first round than on this one, but yeah. I'm still learning how far I can take these comics if x, y, and z are going on too. I'm happy I got it done, but I think it's not as finished as my comic in the first round.

I'm not feeling so good about this one. I didn't give myself enough time to put in colors like I did the last one. I feel like I've taken it down a notch instead of up ;n; But I did do my best with the digital inks, so at least I'm ok with that.

On the bright side, I'm looking forward to the comics again!

same. Thought I'd be able to get to the inking, but I need to be able to function for a full day of work tomorrow :c

I don't think i'll have enough time to do colors like I did with the last comic, either. sdlkfakjfdsa
but on the bright side, my sketched up pages are done!

Oh wow, late introduction ahoy D:

Hallo to those I have yet to be aquainted with! I'm jethro-tullzy, illustration student (I WANNA MAJOR IN CAWMICS. AW YEAH.).
Sadly, I don't actually listen to the band jethro tull, I've just always thought that name was amazing.

I found this site through some other sites, and I thought it would be an awesome place to learn from some amazing artists as well as kick my digital media/storytelling ass into shape.

I hope to do commercial work in the future- it would be a dream come true to do comics or concept art for a living, so I'm continuing to work to become awesome at art.

I've got a few I'm currently reading:
Steel Ball Run - Because I love reading this series. Still haven't finished the vento aureo arc, and stone ocean ;____;
Micheal Strazynski's Thor run - read the first tpb and i want MORE! I love coipel's Thor! He's so manly ;A;
I was hoping to catch up on Ben Templesmith's Choker sometime in the near future. Looking forward to his newest project!

Two bits of news regarding Round 2:

  • We're randomizing the brackets
  • Sofa King is in

Sorry, Base, but you likely won't be against either of those opponents in Round 2

Sweet. That actually is pretty neato, means people can't plan ahead and work ahead of time haha.
unless you plan ahead for matchups with ALL THE CONTESTANTS!!

I'm pretty happy about the randomization too. makes me even more anxious to see who gets paired up with who!

I am guilty of a single strike.

Orion -> cross your fingers for no default! I'm looking forward to seeing what you've got so far. And if you're not satisfied with this one, we could always rematch! I was afraid I wasn't going to finish in time, so I feel like I skimped out on some of the panels :c .

Especially Orion! Can't wait to see our battle :DD!

I'm sort of using this as an opportunity to work on stuff I need help on, like storytelling, coloring, inking, digital media...everything.
Almost done with lines, but there's some stuff I'd like to rework. Still working on the final page, and I'm hoping to have enough time to try and color this

I love getting this 'must work harder and make awesome comics' vibe from everyone :P Granted, mine will be an average 5 pages or so, but still. Keeps you motivated ;D

Boek doesn't have some of the cool "hooks" that a lot of the other characters do, so I'm a little worried about finding opponents to play with after I get eliminated from the tourney.

No need to worry when you haven't even asked yet. I'd fight you if we don't meet up in this or anything. :)
me too! I think I'm going to end up fighting picking a fight with tons of people from this tournament if I don't match up with them! Also, I've clocked in at 5 pages. I'll make these the spiffiest pages I ever spiffed yet!

Hi I'm new! Hope all this works

I have junk art: http://jethro-tullzy.deviantart.com/
I tried to make an intro comic to go with this entry to challenge myself. I've posted it on my deviantart, also because of the lack of comic stuff I have on there.
ANYHOW:

character: "Turtle"
age: 12

The boy known to his classmates as Turtle (due to his uncorrectable slouch and uninterested attitude) grew up in a small town in the middle of nowhere, USA, until his entire town was invaded, sedated, and abducted by a group of drunk, intergallactic frat aliens. Thanks to his trial ADD meds, which cancelled out the affect of the sedatives, Turtle singlehandedly rescued the town and expelled the collegiate aliens in his panicked frenzy.
Turtle was then seen as neurotic to family and friends, describing a mass abduction of the town and alien puke in vivid detail, which no one else could remember. He his family moved to Void City for a change of pace from stagnant suburban life. The "excitement" of the city only made Turtle more wary of the people around him, going out only when forced by his mother to "make some friends in the neighborhood!". He now suspects a large part of the population are alien and out to get him.

Turtle dislikes speaking, adding a smart-assed comment only when appropriate. He refuses to cut the bangs in front of his eyes. After his first run ins with nonhuman creatures in Void City, he always wears a tinfoiled helmet to protect him from alien mind control (the movies and books said so). He also has a metal baseball bat, which he keeps at his side at all times. He believes a majority of what he sees in sci-fi horror movies.

personality
Turtle is nervous around strangers, although when at ease, becomes lethargic, and gets easily sidetracked. His first reaction in a dangerous situation is to panic and run, but when pushed into a corner, will utilize his surroundings and resourcefulness to get himself out. HATES aliens.

Now to upload to the main site!
