Director's-Cut/Deleted Scene Jam

Director's-Cut/Deleted Scene Jam
« on: Nov 29, 2009, 11:53 PM »
Since this one got a lot of positive responses in the art jam suggestion thread..

"Have you ever had a moment where you had to cut down on one or multiple scenes in a battle? Was there a different way you wanted to portray a scene but you were too close to the deadline? The  purpose of this potential jam is to illustrate any scenes you intended or wanted to add in your battle, but never had a chance to during the deadline.  For a bonus challenge, take one of your old comics and remake the entire thing and then compare it to show how much you progressed over time in VOID."

Alright, I got lots of actual deleted scenes as in whole panels and pages I didn't use. While this wasn't the entire point of the jam, since no one else has done it enjoy! Some of these have appeared in my author's notes, but here's the up close better scanned versions. You'll see that I often not only do entire pages before scrapping them, but I change shit a lot. I'd like to eventually do this jam proper as there was a few scenes I didn't do for the Robin BB. These are the originals and not things I redid so yeah, crappy scans.

Angela Rudell vs Scarlett Prologue:Random pages and panels, I can't show you most of the final versions I used as that battle is currently broken and not on my DA.

final version of the above here http://angieness.deviantart.com/art/Angela-vs-Scarlett-Prologue-12-75714515

Why they were cut/changed:readability issues or I came up with more interesting angles. Especially where Angie uses her blood abilities to infiltrate the police officer's body and make him explode pretty much. Which could have been cool but the viewer probably wouldn't have gotten it.

Angela Rudell vs Scarlett

final version here http://angieness.deviantart.com/art/Angela-vs-Scarlett-Page-7-80363971

Why it was changed:I really liked those top two panels, especially berserk ass Angie but it didn't fit the format and I realized oh fuck she was running from the other direction and had to flip that scar panel.

Angela Rudell in Moving Foward

final version http://entervoid.com/view.php?id=2056&side=1&iid=9 here

Why it was changed:well for one it was kind of dumb that there was just a random dark room with like 100 people standing in it for no reason. And for another, I wanted Angie to directly interact with the leader of the Masked Men. In this scene she just merely walks up and explains that she's coming back and you don't get that she's talking to the leader.

Angela Rudell vs Fedra

final version http://entervoid.com/view.php?id=2494&side=1&iid=01 here

Why it was changed:Not really a scene, this was the original cover. There was going to be lots of dramatic heavy blacks with like patterns and designs inside the blacks or something, think Serial Experiments Lain. I'd dropped it because I came up with something more fun as I sat in class and doodled the new cover.

And for dealing with the vague and poorly scanned crap, here's a little bonus

from my Beyond Battle I'm working on! The above is the final lines (haven't colored anything yet), below was the original. I zoomed in to put more impact on Angie's expressions, which I enjoyed the fuck out of doing.

I'll just throw these pages up. These were the last two pages of the Edgar Grimsette vs Aesimi & Beethoven battle that weren't able to go up because I was stupid about uploading things.

Antique stores are a complete pain in the ass to draw. :c

I was digging around and found pieces of my battle against Carlito - Jane vs. Chia Hui - that I defaulted on. I was going to finish as a beyond battle, but perhaps the time has passed - anyway, here's the first two pages! Mostly colored ish (this was from like the beginning of the year)

Very neat jam idea.  Here are some deleted pages and forgotten BB attempts.

Here is a BB featuring RedBlood Phill bringing in a bounty

yes, that door way is like 15 feet high.

This got dropped because I couldn't figure out where I was going with the story.

Yeah this is my initial start to my battle against Suit, but I couldn't write it out without it being too long.

This is the battle I sketched up for OCM 'n Jinney back in ... 2008? Suffering in quality since I was only able to get the quick sketches done from way back then. Lost the original files due to computer crash so I just never bothered to touch. Might as well post it somewhere. Just click on the thumbs for bigger image.

Since Bob didn't get scarred by Kars I don't have to draw this BB anymore - it'd be 3 chapters per 3 pages and here are covers for those chapters:

Chapter 1 Injury

Chapter 2 Inhuman condition

Chapter 3 Recovery

Not exactly a deleted scene, but rather pages to a battle that never happened between Corry and ..well I hope it's obvious.

Oh man! When did Andre become a planeteer?!

Haha, Andre's always been a planeteer. No one ever gives him the striped look on his stuff belt and bracelet and I'm gonna get rid of it too.

Those pages are sick Mrnoitaull, too bad that fight never happened!
