What better way to get back to voiding than a death match

Puck
Being a skeleton-zombie-ghost-frankenstein-zombie, Puck has concluded that she's 500% more dead than anyone who's ever lived. Being the most intensely dead person who's ever existed is pretty great, so Puck has decided to do everything 500% more than anyone else. Unfortunately, 500% enthusiasm is usually not survivable to most living things around her.

There are so many of these on tumblr, I was super suprised to see someone hadn't started this earlier. I hope everybody posts they're awesome gems! Because I will fuse with them all.

I WILL DO IT.

I'm reposting this stuff from my tumblr. My gem is Beryl, because I'm super boring!

I made some fusions!

Coral (AmanitaZest's gem that he hasn't posted here yet) and Beryl make Calcite

Jade and Beryl make Tourmaline

Blue Spinel (Kozispoon's gem, not here yet!) and Beryl make Chalcedony

Nice to see you posting a comic dude! That like automatically puts you above most people. I can't even count the amount of peeps who just disappear into the incubator like ghosts, it's so depressing.

I agree with Kuro that it seems like you're kinda trying to jury rig your perspective. Do you know how to do technical perspective? We have a thread for it here http://entervoid.com/index.php?topic=10652.0  and I could red-line your first panel if you really need help, just ask. It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. I do like the opening shot, it's a nice interesting angle to view the street at.

I think the comic is good as a rough draft, you know, to get the placement of stuff down. Before you ink it, make sure you go over it again and carefully build in the structure of everything. Try to be more exact and spartan with your lines, instead of getting all sketchy and loose.

Also, what are you using for post-scan corrections? Both your design sheet and intro pages need to have their levels corrected so that you don't have those large dark shadows and smudges on the page. It's such an easy thing to fix (once we know what you're using) and it's getting in the way of your pretty art!

Again, it's awesome you worked on your pages dude. Making comics is hard, and plenty of peeps ever never get even this much done.

Looks way better dude! The line-art feels a little stronger, and the blue shadow looks nice. Now you just have to do your pages.

That's awesome Bobo! I used to do an hour of 5 minute poses everyday when I was first trying to get used to my tablet, I should probably start again. Especially since they added face and hand stuff, and I definitely need to practice that stuff.

Oh man that's so cool! WFA is almost like void's sister or something, I know a bunch of Void peeps came from there or have accounts there too. Also Anyone with that great shark avatar has to be awesome! Welcome to Void dude!

I totes want you stay and make super cool comics, but WFA is actually still around. I don't know why, but they changed their name to Hollow City (http://in.hollow-city.com/index.php) which might be why you couldn't find them. If I didn't tell you I'd feel like I was lying to keep you here.

Using a multiply layer is totally an easy way to make sure your shadow is darker, as I'm pretty sure it's impossible to get a lighter colour than the base tone you're drawing on. You can basically mess around with any colour you want, and it'll prolly be fine.

You can also just strait up choose the new colour and draw on at full opacity. Just pay attention to your HSV( or HSL sometimes) when you're choose your shadow. As long as the value/lightness of the shadow is lower than the original base-tone your good. It's also way easier to do with a color wheel, since you can just eyeball it.

I'd say multiply layers are faster, and they let you do some subtle changes that would be hard to just figure out in your head ("to make a purple shadow on this red colour I need to use a grey-orange haha what") but it cuts you out of getting really bold with your shadows. Personally, I mix up blending modes with strait colour picking. Sometimes I'll use the multiply layer as sort of a jumping point, and mess with it manually after I see what I get.

I think you could totes push your line weight variation a little more. There's nothing wrong with thin line-work, but it gets a little uniform in spots, like the coat, hands and tail.

Also, you're shading with grey. That's fine for showing where your light source is, but that's pretty much it, and there's so much more you can do with shadows. By playing around with the colours of your shadow you can strengthen the mood of a piece, introduce new feelings, and unify colour palettes. You can really use any colour for shadows, so experiment!

Well I can't see the original, so it's hard for me to say exactly what you need to do, but just make sure your paper is as flat as possible, and play around with the levels, brightness, contrast, and saturation afterwards. I can tell by the way the paper shifts to darker grey at the top and bottom that you still need to mess with your levels a bit more. Scanning watercolour is never super easy.

Also. try laying down your base tone/initial wash down faster, and use more water. You can see alot of scrubbing brushstrokes in the figure on the figure on the left. In contrast, the smaller figure of your character looks way nicer. There's a much more even and pleasant tone to your washes there.

GO FOR BROKE! / Re: The Post That Hurts The Most
« on: Sep 29, 2014, 08:40 PM »
Oh my god Kuro, you're a crazy person! I think it's a little strange how head-on the foremost car is. Even if the car wasn't obviously at a slight angle to the viewer, it'd be an odd visual choice to show it so directly, because it stops the viewer from moving in and out of your scene. It becomes more of a resting spot than a lead-in.

Even so dude, it's an absolutely amazing illustration, and I hope you don't go back and mess with anything, because I can't imagine how long this has already taken you. When are you planning to start your webcomic?

GO FOR BROKE! / Re: Redesign and reintroduction
« on: Sep 21, 2014, 06:38 PM »
Your rendering is way more complex on the first page. Once you get to the second page you drop alot of the little complexities of your colouring that really make the first page feel super polished. You stop illustrating reflected light sources, highlights mostly dissapear, and you stop using any soft transitions. It's totes fine if you don't wanna use those elements, but you can't just stop from one page to the next, it makes the second page look sorta unfinished.

I'd also try coloring the bubble on the first page not-green, just to give the viewer a spot to rest their eyes in all that acrid green.

Still though dude, your art is sooooooooooooooo nice. Ugh, I just love the way you do everryyyythhiiiiiiiing. It just bleeds style. Finish up and get in already!
