Enter the Void with Greg Pak

Enter the Void with Greg Pak

So in accordance with my own suggestion, I figured the best thing I could do for Void was not to give my own half assed advice but to seek out the advice of professionals.  And I figured, why limit it to just artists when there are other areas to improve?  Greg Pak is a writer for Marvel Comics who has written stories such as World War Hulk, The Incredible Hercules, Chaos War, Magneto Testament, Red Skull and so on.  He has agreed to an interview with me and I figured this would be more interesting if I let the community in on it.  So I would like to ask people to submit questions relating to improving/writing comics and the industry.  Since my goal is to orient these interviews (this is only the beginning) around the same goals that Void has, I wish to avoid specific storyline questions and I will screen questions based on their appropriateness.  This interview will be a mix of my own questions and hopefully some of what you guys throw up here.  I was inspired by the way the VCast did it so...let's do this.

EDIT: Deadlines are important.  So I'll give this a week.  So by Wednesday night I will wrap up all the questions.

fucking great initiative, man, can't wait to check it out.

i guess the first and easy question would be how he got started as a writer for comics, if he started in film/tv or short stories or whatnot.

Awesome, William! You are free to reword my question, I fail at typing coherently today it seems.

How would you recommend us aspiring artists and writers get into the comics business? How did you go about getting work for Marvel?

My questions: How do you go about preparing a story/script for a specific issue or long running book? Do you add lots of camera directions to make it easier for the penciler to adapt on the page? Do you write scripts differently for different artists?

What inspired you, or got you interested in writing (for comics or in general)?

With your long run on Hulk now over, and Dead Man's Run just over the horizon, do you have any more plans for small or creator-owned projects?

I look forward to your upcoming X-Men work! As a fan of teams and large casts, I must wonder:

Your Hulk and Hercules runs seemed to be somewhere between "team book" and "solo book", with the supporting casts getting a lot of spotlight (Hulk's warbound and Amadeus Cho, respectively). Do you have any you have any tips on writing a "team-oriented" story, or juggling a larger cast of characters?

Unfortunately they're rather busy people.  I had hoped it would get done but it seems unlikely at this point.  I did recieve an apology from Emma Rios a couple of months ago but it's obvious she's also been busy.  I've felt discouraged so I have not tried to pursue anyone else for these interviews though I may try again in the future.
