!SHORT & SWEET!

!SHORT & SWEET!

Hello ladies and germs, we are proud to bring forth another season of SHORT & SWEET! That’s right, folks, we are back at it again with your irregular dose of Artist Themed Comics!

We decided to shake things up with this next theme to get the creative blood flowing once more. This time around we are proud to introduce our

FIXED SCRIPT CHALLENGE!

What the heck is a fixed script challenge?
Well, here’s how it works. We want you to interpret a script just as an artist would working alongside that of a writer in the industry. What better way to sharpen those artist skills than working from a pre-existing script? Every artist who joins up will be given the same script to draw from. The kicker is, it’s up to you how you wish to follow and draw the script. While there are panel descriptions, we encourage you to express artistic freedom and shake it up with an interesting take of what is written. How do you picture it? What angles, panels, and perspectives are you visualizing?!

Well, what script are we going to working from?
Good question, kiddos! We have just the script that suits our purposes!  In order to keep everyone playing fair and square we won't release the script until sign ups end.  Yet what we can tell you is that the theme of the script is HORROR  So if that gets you going then you've come to the right place.

What kinda deadlines and stipulations are we looking at?
You will have till Tuesday 3/26 to sign up below if this theme piques your interest! The script will be announced when sign ups close. The event will then start the following day! We are looking at a two week drawing period. The script is also a 5 page maximum! (It wouldn't be Short & Sweet if we didn’t limit the deadline and page count!) The liberties are yours on how you want to pursue drawing this comic. Strictly inks? Experimental coloring? Work from a limited palette? Want to pull out the screentones? It’s all welcome here as long as you draw with the script provided. All artists are welcome to participate if you have drawn a comic previously for the site! There is no limit to how many people can join!

You've all been eagerly waiting and so here it is!  This is the script we'll be using for the event.

Just to lay a little info down:
The script is written by Anthony Johnston, a Best selling writer who has written for multiple media including novels, games and comics.  You might be familiar with Atomic Blonde, the film that was based on his comic by the same name.

The script we're using was actually part of a talent hunt for Oni Press, which we felt would best suit our trial run for this event and is freely available on Johnston's site.  So unlike many scripts you can find online, there is no finished official comic version of this script.
