Hey, Yarn! Just checking out which of your characters I want to challenge! Since this is older work, I won't say too much, but the contrast and thick lines please me.

Whhooaaa will, that was a really helpful comment!
and thank you sabu! I dont know much about orthodox, so i appreciate some of that info.
I won't lie, i've now justified it to myself as a tenebrae service, but i realize not everyone knows what that is, so the sunlight crits are helpful. I've been scared to ask about pictures at church, but maybe I should. Thank you everyone!

Architecture is a fun topic (or at least I think so) and it's worth looking into some of the design philosophies of major Architectural movements.  I believe understanding some of it is helpful to us as artists especially when it comes to backgrounds.  So here's a little info dump, when it comes to Churches the interaction of space and light is super important.  Church design is affected by several factors though, sect, locality, purpose and philosophy.  Such as some Churches are Gothic due to the belief that the more complex and ornate a church is, especially in terms of engineering and math and how many designs you can cram into the wall, the better you can represent the complexity of God.  And because God was always associated with light and brightness and positive attributes, daylighting (as it's called) was important.  You wanted churches to have as much natural light as possible and the design affects that.  There's actually lots of neat effects that architects came up with to try to create a more spiritual environment.  For example, you want a lot of light to be directed at the altar and the choir for that Heavenly effect.  But going back to the Gothic churches, they're naturally so complex and large that they have pretty dark interiors but they're designed as a rule so that the most well lit parts of the Church are the parts where all the religious worship and thought was happening.  And of course, the stain glass windows which reflected different lights were meant to have different effects on mood.  Of course, different sects have different philosophies, some people believe spaces for prayer should be more dimly lit and of course some will pray by candlelight only.  Of course, if you're one of the smaller sects maybe all you've got to work with is the function hall you rented out and then that's different.

Sorry for the rambling, this is a topic I enjoy so I thought some info might be useful.  But to bring it back to the comic at hand, you're not wrong that the popular Gothic church has dark spaces and some people feel praying in dimly lit spaces is cool.  Gothic churches used dim lighting to create a somber mood while stain glass windows produce long rays of light.  But yes, lighting is super important to churches.  And those aspects of lighting design in these Churches might give you something to play with in future comics.

While Im only familiar with Orthodox Greek styled churches, Ive been in a few other churches and while some aspects are humble, no religious establishment is too cheap for some good lighting (unless you want to show how dilapidated Void City keeps its churches then Go For It My Dude).

Even if you want the church to have derelict lighting, you can portray the 'warmth' of a safe place by dialing way back the spotblacks; i was certain the nun in the last panel of page 2 on the far left was out to shank someone. Im also not a huge fan of these gradients, I think this would have benefited with a harder shading style, otherwise the art is quite nice!

STory is p straightforward as well and sprinkles the necessary information we need to know about the character. Keep up the good work!

Evi: ooh Kiteria is a cool name! I like the pacing and narration for this intro, we get a good idea of this character and her motives in three pages.
I'm not sure what your intention was for her home; perhaps you did want a dark, foreshadowingy mood to it? The heavy black shadows with dim lighting made the place vague and a bit unwelcoming, the bread doesn't look particularly appetizing either; as a reader, do I really want to trust this place and the characters?
Since the narration is told by Kiteria herself, I would have liked to see warmer, brighter tones in order to emphasize how "safe" she personally feels as a way to show how she sees it through her own eyes. I would have have also loved to have the camera zoom out more (and with less shadows) to get a better sense of where she lives as well! That's more of a nitpick though, overall this comic gets the job done and was easy to follow. Good work!

Ohh! See, i am familiar with blues as safe and calm colors. I'll keep it in mind though.
The dim lighting is a logical jump I made. Nuns must take a vow of poverty, so I imagine excessive use of electric or lights is not ideal. I guess people don't usually see that in comics, but those are small touches that I enjoy.
This was me trying to see what works and what doesn't with the very popular and highly coveted "hellboy" style? And though I'm definitely not perfect at it, i was overall fairly satisfied at my attempt along with the format and scanning experiments i was running.

I really appreciate the feedback, Evi! ♥♥♥ I'll keep it in mind moving forward and tweak those choices and interpretations a bit.

Heathen: Cool intro, good narration and pacing. I would have liked to see the first caption on page 2 in the last panel of page 1. The ending shot is underwhelming, we need a big full figure shot right there. Can’t wait to fight her!

I had been noticing i put a lot of big bottom page panels in my comics overall, so i was trying to avoid the pattern. Whoops!
