Bless memes. Bless how these are presented. Bless these two characters.

Savagedab

Though this collage style is particularly new for me, I enjoy it within the context of these two characters dukeing it out. The nearly offensive amount of memes is not offensive, by the fact of the character's existence as a whole; if it was some rando hero human character doing this and not a fidget spinner, I would be so so so confused. But he isn't. And that works so well. When I read these two comics I was walking back to work and I am now certain anyone on my normal route thinks I'm insane from how much I was snickering at this one.

Orion

I will commend you, for making a narrative within this meme-heavy subtext. It shows the artistic tenacity that you hold to incorporate that into these two characters interacting. The use of red along with the black is also a great addition into your work, that shocks me into attention which made me realize that shit is about to get down, as it did. I'm looking at the % right now, and I gotta say, narratively, I would love to see how else surrealism against other characters go, and if you get that opportunity, I will be excited to see it.

Both of you did an excellent job, in different respects. Whomever wins, I hope to see more of what made your particular comic stronger: This is a true battle, between Meme art  and Narrative art ( Rebirth of Dada vs Surrealism oh SHIT--- )

Savagedab - A bold experiment bravely executed! It didn't fully come together in my opinion, as I would like to see more collage style comics from you in the future!

Orion - I LOVE the story you're building here! You surprised me in this one - that was cool watching Spoiler take shape throughout and finally complete at the end, ready to take on the world. Perhaps the environment/space could have been a little more interesting, with different things floating in it that would've had some cool visual hooks. In any case, the Meme Genie being an Admin of reality is so cool, I hope to see the tale continue.

* SAVAGEDAB Keep it up meme genie. Except I dislike memes, so I won't be rooting for you. The photo edit is working out so keep on rolling.

* ORION The decent into reality was a good idea! I think eight balls are a lost connection between the realms of the Devine. In the future try to focus on the perspective of things like ban hammers and limbs and the sort. Good luck!!

Savage dab: I highly respect your sincerity for memes and going full stop on it unapologetically. With deserves respect since a lot of people would try to hold themselves back to try and make it more appealing and would be worried that it would be too much, but going with too much makes it all the more memorable. I enjoy it because you set out to do one thing and one thing only, use all the memes and it was just enjoyable seeing all the random clusterfuck of memes. Your bombardment of memes will turn plenty of people off but I personally love it and embrace, also I hope you can fit a Pop Team Epic meme in your next thing with Charkley.
For future comics what could help on a quality level is maybe adding some more obvious borders between panels. Having the opponents of Charkley start of non-memey would help make the contrast between them and your character even greater and more entertaining. You could also make the opponent start off relatively normal sounding and as charkley breaks them down their dialogue could devolve into dank memes. Also this style of comic is great and I hope you do more beyond this SDT and with other characters.

Orion: I had a bit of issue for the first couple pages figuring out who was saying that dialogue and on page 4 it was made a bit confusing since you have all the word bubbles leading back to charkley except that one bubble in the upper right corner. Also when you had the action in the final couple pages some more well defined panel borders may have helped make it more clear what was going on, however the first couple pages the lack of panels worked pretty well, but by the end you may have wanted to use some more traditional panels. Storywise I like what you did with both characters, you characterized charkley well and I like how you made Spoiler a malevolent force who will only bring misery.

Savage:  Not every day I see someone come in and do a photocollage (or whatever it's called) style comic.  Impressive in its own right, but, Meme Genie or not, I felt the frequent use of memes wore the humor down a bit.

Orion:  Good job on this comic.  Kinda like your take on Charkley as something of a internet admin-type ruler of some parallel universe.  I dunno how, but I managed to follow what was going on even with the lack of comic panels.  I'd like to know how exactly Spoiler killed Charkley, though.

@savage: I was cringing throughout that entire comic. I appreciate the creativity involved in creating your collages, but the humor just didn't do it for me. The one exception was the super prominent "GETTY IMAGES" at the end of page 3, which was just a perfect juxtaposition with Spoiler's dramatic cry. I think your character has a lot of potential, but it's wasted on basically just turning memes into a loose narrative. There's no real substance to the comic story-wise, so unless meme humor like this happens to be something your readers enjoy, it's just going to fall flat. I'd like to see you subvert the meme genre or give some actual weight to the story. Again though, really creative work with your photo collages! I want to see more creativity like this!

@orion: It took me till page 4 before I was able to tell that it was Charkley talking. I'm assuming Spoiler only talks using 8-ball phrases, but I didn't know to expect that at the beginning, and without any backstory to give me context, it could have just as easily been Spoiler talking for all I could tell. I really liked the last page, which was enough to get me hyped for whatever happens next (assuming you win this round), but other than that, I really didn't get much out of your comic. It's probably because I'm not super in-tune with meme culture on the internet right now, so your references probably just went over my head, but there just wasn't much meat to this comic imo. The art was fine, and I like the effort you put into giving Charkley a sense of personality, but I could have used a little more of something to get me emotionally invested in the story before the last page. I guess this just ended up feeling like a prologue rather than a full story, and I don't think you have the luxury of doing that in a VOID battle. That's just my two cents though.

SavageDab's comic was very hard to understand, but innovative in it's use of meme effects in comics form. Imma study that one for learning. New comics effects being invented in memes EVERY DAY.

Orion's you could more or less understand, plot you could follow, plus his own drawings. The getting under the hammer and moving the BAN HAMMER back onto him was cool. Less exciting, but better as a whole by a lot. Plus, it's pretty hard  to make a comic without the standard rectangle panels, or without ANY panel borders at all, and the whole-page compositions felt natural.

Dab, I could hardly contain myself, honestly. That's some good shit. I agree with Corn in that it got a bit muddled in quite a few areas, but not enough that I couldn't tell what was going on. I am looking forward to more, though.

Orion I think you did rather well. It's drawn out nicely and you managed to get the essence of your opponent, which in this case I think is particularly important. I like the contrast between the way too talkative Charkley and the mostly silent Spoiler. In a way these are very similar characters in concept but oh so different in execution.

Dab that was Hilarious but I feel a few of the shots were really hard to make out but that ending killed me!
Orion you did an amazing job recreating the look of your opponent and I liked the interactions between them as both these human constructs.
This is going to be one of the closest rounds of the entire tournament I can feel it!

Just because Savagedab is new I want to go over some rules, JUST IN CASE:
1. You MUST draw your opponent in your comic and they MUST die, in some way.
2. You have to upload your comic BEFORE the deadline. It's very strict and there is no wiggle room.
Go here to upload http://entervoid.com/index.php?action=manager;sa=submit
Make sure you click on the comic under MY COMICS, please do not make a "beyond battle" by accident.
Upload your images, there is no confirmation button.
Also please read this http://help.entervoid.com/submitting-a-comic/ for more help on submitting a comic. Please email staff@entervoid.com if you have any issues. Waiting until the last possible moment to upload is not recommended.

This should be interesting. Looking forward to seeing some of your work, Savage, seeing how your method is rather unorthodox.

Good luck to you both
