If memory serves, this 1v1 has the shortest amount of pages evenly out of all of the contestants: 3 pages. Holy goodness, how much information can be compacted within 3 pages...I didn't even know it was possible! But ya'll pulled that off, effectively so, and I felt it to be an honorable mention.

Gregly:

The vocabulary of this Right Head I can appreciate. I thought at first that these definitions were being presented by the other head, but know understanding that isn't the case, I still think its a cute add-on that I want to believe is provided by the right head to the reader, creating a 4th wall break that always tickles me in media. The last word bubble gave me a quick snicker too, and cornered with a sweet and simple presentation, clean line work, and color scheme provided, creates this piece that feels like would fit perfectly within a Sunday / weekend weekly comic.

Catalessi:

Again, short and straight to the point death by great sneaking by your protagonist. The use of darkness with color is a luxury that is allowed due to the shorter page length, and I believe that strengthens the beats within your work, especially in the last page in regards to the gunfire. The style is very charming as well, as it coexists nicely with the designs of both Nut and Agent.

Overall, I'm very proud of what y'all accomplished within 3 pages! Its quick, concise, and making me wish i did the same to do some quick impact story and death. Awesome work you two!

Gregly: I didn’t like the definitions of all the words you used in this. It took me out of the comic and was more distracting than just having a word I may not understand. The only words you should have to explicitly explain are words that you make up otherwise it just takes the reader out of the story and stops them more than desired. It also makes it seems like you don’t trust the readers intelligence and that you need to teach them every step of the way, which slightly rubs me the wrong way.
However you have a potentially really funny and interesting out for this specific character. I noticed only one head was having dialogue so if the other head was the one consistently spouting out those definitions that would have actually been really funny, maybe that’s what you intended to do but since there was no bubble connecting to the other head it didn’t come off that way. I don’t think you should keep doing boxes giving definitions for the complex words but if you do it could actually be an entertaining bit were one head provides the definitions of the words the other head is using.

Catalessi: This was pretty straight forward and honestly enjoyable. The escalation of the conflict was pretty enjoyable and silly in a good way. I’m not really qualified to make any comments about art and others have already given you some solid advice in that regard.

Catalessi: I like the saturated colors you used but your solution to your build up was a bit straightforward, you did an amazing job with the inks keep up the great work.

Greagly, the art is great and I love learning new words but the timing for this comic was a bit slower especially from what Ive come to expect from your sense of humor, though that was a truly inspired death.

GREGLY: The subtlitlement of the wizard's fancy words is endlessly amusing to me despite the fact I k ow it shouldn't be that funny. I think it saved this a bit because ain't much happening otherwise... still always a pleasure to have you comic around with us!

CAT: my major gripe here is the colours. I think even if all you did was desaturated them a good bit then the style would go from looking kind of amateurish to being charmfully simple. The strong blacks and clear storytelling are really just undermined by these colour choices. I want to see more of this though! Like, this could become amazing with the right couple of adjustments!

@gregly: I actually had a bit of a hard time reading your handwriting on those complicated words 2HNW was using, so that made them even more difficult to read. I've been looking forward to seeing this character in action, and now that I have, I have somewhat mixed nuts feelings. On the one hand, he's still a super creative character, and the idea of him using big words like that is pretty fun in concept. On the other hand, in practice it felt like the focus of the entire comic was those fancy words, which I think took away from the overall effect it could have had. I would suggest toning down the weird language so more of the story can progress uninhibited by the reader's ignorance, unless using obscure words in every sentence is just too important to your character's identity to do without. Either way, make sure it's as easy as possible to at least make out those words so I'm not stumbling over the pronunciation before even worrying about the definition. I definitely want to see more of this nut!

@cat: Wait, so was Agent trying to kill 2HNW, or was 2HNW trying to kill Agent? Because for most of the comic it seemed like Agent was there to kill them, but then the last panel made it seem otherwise. Because of that confusion, that joke ended up falling flat for me. I liked the term "nut zone," and the smoke being part of Agent's sneak attack instead of part of the spell. Otherwise, there wasn't a ton to this comic. I think you could have thrown in some dialogue that showed off the characters' personalities more, or you could have gone a little more overboard with your humor.

Gregly: a fun little comic, as usual! don't have much to comment on but it's always a pleasure to see your stuff.

Catalessi: good showing for a first comic!

both of you do actually have a bit of weird unexplained aggression on the behalf of your opponent that i don't imagine would be explained in your story though, which put me a little off them both. the battle seems a bit forced, i guess! but who really knows why a mysterious agent man would be assassinating a poor wizard like this.

Just because Catalessi is new I want to go over some rules, JUST IN CASE:
1. You MUST draw your opponent in your comic and they MUST die, in some way.
2. You have to upload your comic BEFORE the deadline. It's very strict and there is no wiggle room.
Go here to upload http://entervoid.com/index.php?action=manager;sa=submit
Make sure you click on the comic under MY COMICS, please do not make a "beyond battle" by accident.
Upload your images, there is no confirmation button.
Also please read this http://help.entervoid.com/submitting-a-comic/ for more help on submitting a comic. Please email staff@entervoid.com if you have any issues. Waiting until the last possible moment to upload is not recommended.
