The first Annihilation. It was largely passed over but I'm still proud of what I accomplished here.
I'd do better now. But I learned an important lesson. Creepy writing is best accomplished by dipping your fingers in ink.

So I want to start by thanking the people who took the time to vote and thank TDK for accepting me.
But at the same time I am disappointed by the lack of critiques. I know the site has had trouble and people have been busy lately but it is very disappointing that nobody could spare a few crits for us.
At first I wasn't sure about this but I kept seeing TDK's challenge and couldn't resist the idea of it. I had my story in mind from the moment I saw the challenge but I wasn't confident I could deliver. But I decided to take the risk.
The first week was bad. I only got the first page done and seriously regretted it. I considered asking TDK to cancel because I might not deliver. But I haven't finished a comic in years. I wanted to be able to push forward and prove to myself most of all that I could deliver. So the second week I dedicated every free moment I could get to get this done. The animated page at the end was something I planned for but it was my plan B. If I had enough time I'd do it and somehow I managed it. I thank Roflqu who helped me cut it down because the original version was too big for the uploader.
That said, there's a lot I would change or would have changed if there more time. Expanded certain sequences, changed some scenes, made some things clearer, more detailed and I think this to the point where I'm not sure how proud I am of this comic. I still have issues with centering faces for whatever reason; its a bad habit that I think I can only solve through more practice. My anatomy is not always up to snuff and some of those small panels are undeniably lazy and there to solve issues with flow. But I am proud of the fact that it was finished according to the story I wanted to tell. It's the first comic I have finished in four years.
TDK: Thanks again for accepting this challenge. We've set a precedent for Annihilation battles so that's pretty cool. I don't know if you intended for your comic to be silent or if there was planned dialogue but it works well enough. Your visual storytelling is enough to tell the story without dialogue. You can definitely use some more cleaning in your linework and in your blacks and you should use PS for that. Bolden your panel borders. What I do personally, since my panels look much the same as yours, is to use the selection tool to make a black square. I contract the selection by like 10-20 pixels and cut out the center. Otherwise just keep pushing yourself and learning from examples.

It’s funny, I didn’t even notice TDK’s side was wordless, which is a testament to how clearly he was able to depict the action.
