Thresher- I was very entertained with your entry, solid story, a strong cohesive world was established and you made the reader find ways to like both characters. I'll hold off on any crits because most have been said and I don't want to come off like an asshole seeing how I kinda just crapped my comic out. This is a much deserved win and I look forward to seeing what you do in the future. Good work my friend.

THRESHER- Wow, this is Avengers caliber storytelling! I totally agree with G.Lo's comment that this was a spirited romp into a very realized and fleshed out world. I just wish it wasn't so scratchy. Your ink work and quality leave me feeling like I'm looking upon this rich world and story through foggy lenses. I loved all the ominous human sculptures throughout the jungle, and the area 51 installation within, but I was craving some high detail. Taking time to add some thick lines to those sculptures during that epic mouth pouring of nightmare creatures scene, or detail the jungles vines and rendered bark/foliage would've gone a long way. I mean, I can only imagine how much more impactful those demonic creatures would've looked if they'd been fully realized- especially in the attack on Edge on page 7. As it stands, we get the action and a great story, but I feel the art is huffing and puffing from behind trying to play catch up.

Also, I double and triple agree with the critique of making your own fonts. Your art style totally makes crisp clean bold font stick out like a sore thumb. You definitely want it to mingle well and this didn't.

PIXELCHOP- First off, kudos for turning in something and not defaulting. This is danged impressive work for only one day. Still, I'm left wanting because I've been in hangouts with you and seen your work when you put the time and quality into it, so I feel we all really missed out on what could've been. Still, you have some rad angles in here and honestly, this felt more like a storyboard than a comic. Like that angled speech bubble next to the bartender on page 5 is wild. Never seen that before!  I feel you also took a nod to Hiemie's latest battle for that establishing shot on page 3. I was totally getting Telegraph theater vibes! Also the mouth you put on Edge had me laughing. I love all the monkey jokes and the ACTUAL gorilla joe making a break for it on page 7.

I was lucky enough to see some of the thumbnails and sketches of these panels/pages when you were working on them in the hangout, and I gotta say, I feel your personality is lost once you translated it to digital lines. It feels a bit too clean if not a little sparse, but I suppose that's also on account of the time crunch. Definitely hope you better manage your time and wow us with what I know you can do.

Thresher: I loved your story! Like Pyras said, the world building was awesome. You gave us a cool, interesting world and enough information to keep us interested but we're just as lost as the characters involved on certain aspects of it.  I like the way you ink and all dat detail, but I feel like you could have added in some more black to help with panel composition, or even make things look more eerie like the giant-people-vomit-plant-monsters!

I was entertained by your alarm going on for a few panels. I thought you were gonna take it full Alien and like keep it going in the background for the rest of the time they were in the campsite but I think that would have been an intense experiment that could either work super well or fail miserably. I think it partially worked for the panels you did it for, but I gotta agree with the choice of SFX text being kind of.. not good.

Other than that, super entertaining and really full story! I definitely want to see more of you around here!! Also hitlisted!

Pixelchop:  Holy jesus 10 pretty decent looking pages in one day daaayyuumm. I really don't like critiquing unfinished stuff, so I will just say yours was pretty cute. Watch out how you lay out your panels- pg 6 I think the bottom two panels need worked differently because I wanted to read them out of order. Oh also, dem gorilla facial expressions are on point. Seriously, seeing those faces were friggin' awesome!

Thresher: Another ward-mate for Park! I love this story, I've always loved your world building, and that you always go all in with backgrounds, no shortcuts. There are panels here and there that could have used more work, because of anatomy, perspective, or action choreography, including panel 4 of page 4 (Elle looks a bit too man-ish), panel 1 of page 6 (Elle suddenly looks like she's built like a dwarf), last panel of page 6 (Edge's left arm needs more work), to name a few. The last panels, I'm confused whether he should be looking at the planet or that fiery, I guess is a planet on fire but I'm not sure.

Pixelchop: This is pretty funny, I can't grade too much since it's pretty incomplete but it was entertaining.

Great job guys and welcome back, hope to see more from y'all in the future!

Pixelchop: Not too shabby for a day's work.  Good job finishing, even if it's fast and loose.

Thresher: Your art has a strange quality to it that's at once appealing and lacking.  I think color, had you time to do it, would certainly have injected more life into these pages.  But I think more than that, you could make better use of blacks.  You've got some decent line weight variations in a lot of your panels, which help separate the various elements in the frame, but you might work on pushing that further.  Screen tones are another great way to quickly and easily add some depth to your panels, and since you managed to finish and upload this whole comic a day early (major props for that, btw), I think you definitely could have gone back in and laid some screen tones down on this, and it would have made a big difference.

Oh, one more thing:  Stop using that font for sound effects.  It's horrible.  Just draw them by hand.  An easy way to get great looking hand-lettered SFX is (if working digitally) take a big fat marker or paintbrush brush and write the word out, then on a separate layer, trace the outline of the letters with a pen brush.  If working traditionally, you can achieve the same result by using a yellow highlighter and then tracing the words with your inking pen.  Then the highlighter won't scan, and you're left with a cool looking SFX, integrated into your artwork, as opposed to pasted over top of it.

My favorite panels are the shots of the giant statues looming over the jungle canopy.  Your inking style works really well for those.  Overall, just a really solid comic.  Easy to follow, fun to look at, and action packed.

And I got a good chuckle out of the part where Edge is reminded why people generally avoid fighting gorillas.

these were both good, but Thresher i loved yours! It was super epic i loved the attention to detail when creating this whole world loved page ten!!!! awesome dude. Pixel you have a very cool style but your work seemed rushed, i do like your more dramatic rendering of anatomy and crazy persepectives

You've done damn well for a day's work! I love how Edge has absolutely zero problems with picking a fight with a literal gorilla.

You do well at stretching perspective but sometimes your composition shots are bit off so the action goes off focus (looking at the third panel on page 10 in particular) so keep an eye on that.

Another thing you had is that you introduced Vac's power set and then didn't utilise it later on (I think the fuck off could have been a use of it but could also be taken as just as extreme yelling?).

Overall it was fun and I had a chuckle at Gorilla Joe! Hope you stick around and do some more. I've certainly learned how to draw a gorilla which I didn't expect to be on my list of this years achievements.

I just uploaded mine. Don't worry, I didn't color my comic either. I didn't even start drawing it until yesterday. I made sure I turned something in tho. I look forward to seeing what you did. congrats on the win lol.

UPLOADED
Sadly I was not able to colour it as intended, but I hope it's clear enough without that.
