Synje: In Le Fred's comic, who's the ghost talking to chiyoyo in the begining?

It's Puzzlething's super great SDT champion, Marigold. http://entervoid.com/index.php?action=character%3bid=1940

I know right? Holy shit the back and forth of the scores was killing me.
Thanks everyone for your kind words and comments, and thank you Sixtem for the close fight! I'll try to honor your death by kicking all upcoming asses in the name of the Muko clan.

That was nailbitingly close near the end there, jeez! And here you were worrying about beating me, Fred.

Thanks for the critiques/comments everybody! I made a lot of mistakes in the writing (I had no real conflict, too much time on exposition, etc) that I'll keep in mind for next time. And good luck in the rest of the tourney, Fred! I was far from the best comiccer in this thing.

Close fight on this one. I could favor many things on one comic and many things on the other.

SixTem: One thing I noticed is that the characters' heads are huge compared to their bodies. I think you did well cutting up so much dialogue and still keeping it interesting enough for my patience (compliment). And I see you're using gradients here and there, I think you should go for it and experiment it even more on the characters themselves and see what you can come up with.

LeFred: Adorable characters and color choice. Although if you wanted to make the mood gloomier with blue, try making it less saturated (more grey-sih). Although Not necessary. Every once in a while the word balloons blend into the background. You might be able to fix it by adding an outline, or changing the shade of the background. Orange is a tricky color for that though. I think it's okay to overlap a few things onto other panels, especially on page 7, when the music lyrics are cut off every panel there (connecting the lyrics in the drawing would have probably given a better impact)

Sixtem: I didn't realize your comic would be so cartoony from your character sheet but I really like the way it looks! Nice work on finishing so many pages, but I don't feel like much actually happened on those pages.

Lefred: I'm a big fan of the way you draw and the way the characters in your comics interact.also great use of color! Nice work getting all of this done in a week!

Six - I liked that Chiyo decided to become a tenant herself in order to find and eliminate one of her targets (that being Anish).  Also, I spotted Bruce Lee (or I think it's Bruce Lee).

Fred - The only things I feel the need to point out are what's going on in the first panel of page 9, and the xx hours later pages.  As for the former, I have no idea what's going on.  It looks kinda like Chiyo and Anish are going on an acid trip or something.  And for the latter, I feel the xx hours later pages could have been left out in their entirety and the following pages have xx hours later text boxes instead.

Good efforts you two.  Hope to see more.

Sixtem - Glad to see you back! I like the setup, and it was neat seeing Chiyojo emerge into the world and trying to fit in, sort of. Like a good sneaky ninja! I think you do your best work in deathmatches, because the stakes are high, and you did not disappoint here. I enjoyed Okori, too, so I hope to see more of her in some capacity. Lovely job, as always!

LeFred - I love the casual dialogue between the princesses--nice choice using the "spare princess" Qyz created! I also enjoyed Chiyojo's matter-of-fact attitude at the end. That was funny but also chilling when you think about it in realistic context. I agree that it was the most creative and surprising kill I've seen so far. The poses were really cool too--varied enough to seem interesting. I didn't mind the lack of an actual battle--in fact I preferred it. Great work!

Wow guys! Great battle between two very different characters!

Sixtem- I love how you set up a good premiss for any future match up. That is some good planning! I loved the story and the art work! Great job

LeFred:  that was some awesome conversation! I am always at awe when I read people who can make a lazy afternoon drinking bear interesting! I loved the story and the whole style. I was semi lost for a moment during the pink Floyd moment but was totally back on board with the addition of onion princess lol very nice touch! I loved it!

Seeing the comments on this battle, I decided to save it for last. It totally sucks that my random list generator put you two together, but that's just how things go I guess!

Sixtem: Maaaaaan, I have missed the crap out of you! Seeing your stuff makes me all nostalgic for my early days on VOID when you were just killing and dying all over the place. Anyways, I'm amazed at this comic. It was entertainment all the way through, and I loved all the references. Your princess is adorably overdramatic, and I can't wait to see more (hopefully)!

LeFred: Oh, man, you've done it again. Your colors really set the mood, and this story was a really interesting changeup from all the other entries this round. You managed to bring it down to a real-life level, which made Chiyojo's death all the more intense, because it wasn't the death of a warrior or a crazy psycho-killer, but just the death of a friend who took a wrong turn and threatened to assassinate you. You know, real-life stuff. But seriously, I thoroughly enjoyed your comic. Your interpretation of everything that has happened after Hiemie's reset is really interesting. Especially the whole inflation thing. I can't believe none of us thought of that, because that's totally what would happen.

I'm sad that one of these princesses has to die, but I'm pretty sure whichever one of you wins this match is going to kill this thing. Good luck!

hahahahaha I have a lot of complicated feelings about this fight.

SIxtem: Characters with you are readable and stays true to the real thing. They even hold up in your universe without getting denatured. These are important things to pay attention to because all your energy goes to that while your style is inherently flat. But I would say that like I would say "letters" are flat. Your images are more like letters that read well and clearly and your handwriting is improving. In fact not many would see it for a while, but I can appreciate that converting something so very clear and readable into something entertaining to look at is slightly easier the other way around.  These aren't bad qualities this is just what I observed. But I think you sort of underestimated your enemy here and you can only imagine the irony of dying to this kid.

Lefred- Your compositions do not lend itself to be read like letters. In fact it hurts you to put so much verbage in one page - and they are useless verbage at that.
Sometimes i wish you approached these scenes with an editor's axe so you could free up those pages for better things. Like fights or something....

Because while you and sixtem had 12 pages, you only had one scene and one part while your opponnent tackled an intro, a second act- and miniatures acts thereafter that fit in a bite sized package.
It's actually bad that i refer to sixtem's interperetation of your and his characters to figure out who the two actually are. I do not bother with character bios. It's a useless action when comics can actually explain everything.  Like sixtem's your conflict gets shoed in as irreverently as the stuff I had to sit through 12 pages to read. I can see the flow of consistency, yes. I can see that the chain of events was kind of waifey and surreal much like real life but they were interpereted as just events.

You did fill your color tones and the 12 pages are complete.

As you can imagine you both completed on a technical level and achieved high marks. Lefred I'm actually surprised you improved to this level.  In fact it's to a point where I am left to choose on my preferences and opinion alone.

I like violence and characters with strong motivations so I guess I'll give this one to Six's.

GODDAMN BEST SDT ROUND HANDS DOWN HOLY SHITBALLS. This could've been the finale it was so good. Seriously guys, you both knocked it out of the park, I need to fight you both now. I need it.

     Sixtem      -

It's so hard to critique you. Even during single week fights like this you keep the quality so high and consistent. Even better than your solid, strong art was the amazing dialogue and pacing. I was totally grinning throughout the whole thing. Like everything Anish said was hilarious and flowed so naturally.

Yeah, your backgrounds do totally evaporate after awhile, which I'm not a huge fan of. Still, such a great comic.

LeFred       -

                       DUDE WHAT. WHAT.

                       WHAT

THIS A 1 WEEK COMIC. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT.

When I saw you got matched up with Sixtem first round I was like "Aw man, that sucks for LeFred. Glad I'm not him". You're a great artist, but I still thought you were boned just because it's Sixtem and he's crazy. But now I have no idea who's gonna win! This is an amazing accomplishment, I can't believe this came out of "A busy week". Awesome, consistent stuff, great great natural dialogue. I love you're balance of humour, slice-of-life, and sadness. It's everything I want to be as a storyteller. OH GOD ONION PRINCESS, BEST EXPRESSIONS. And I almost fell out of my chair when I saw Marigold! Nobody else is gonna know who she is, but I'm blushing up a storm over here!

Literally the only thing I didn't like about this comic is that there's something strange going on with the aliasing on your lines on the orange pages. It looks like you have an orange line underneath the inked lines, and it creates this weird vibration on the pixels.

I just want to gush again. SO GOOD GUYS. I hope I survive long enough to fight whoever lives through this round. I wish neither of you had to die :C

These two were great to read!

Sixtem with a cool story set up to possibly arch over battles, and LeFred with really nice dialogue and making a comic with mostly talking really super entertaining to read.

Also, LeFred, that's one fucking rad ass cameo :D

Good job you two, certainly one of, if not my single favorite battle this round!

Uploaded with 30 minutes to spare, as usual.

THE THUMBNAILS ARE BY NACHTE, NOT ME. I did the rest of the comic solo, of course. I had to skimp on backgrounds near the end, but I hope the first 2/3rds make up for it, haha.

Can't wait to see yours, LeFred!

LeFred: Hahaha. Just earlier I was thinking 'yeah sure, I'm feeling ready for fighting any princess. Except Sixtem. God I hope they don't match us up first round'. OH WELL. Should be interesting. I'd wish you luck, Sixtem, but I think I'll keep it all to myself this time. :P
