I told otaku that my arm hurt that week, so I decided to make it a silent one because text is usually the time/arm killer for me. Now that the eviction is beginning, I guess I'll just go with the flow and make Florence actually fight someone now.

Pocky- well played introspective story, with a well accomplished vibe of the Rainy Day. Warming up for the new character huh? The effects succeed even tho you claim to be unfamiliar with digital processes- I applaud your efforts to break into them. Your solid sense of black/white high contrasts carry over and the linework suffers little. For a silent comic you nailed the pacing and characterization of these two souls- Tsumi is especially endearing. Its quite a good parable, "there was one set of footprints not because I abandoned you, but because I hath bourne you upon mine own back in your hour of need." I do look forward to more developments for Florence, your range is impressive because you're a highly volatile and stylistically experimental- keep it up.

Taylor- I am curious if you two set some rules before engagement about the silent tonal comics. Its cool to see your attempt at greys- not an easy skill to master, tho this was a good round to play with it. I like the Godopods and flashback memory bit, feels a little lackluster anatomy wise compared to your clean recent work but you stepped it up with some interesting layouts and lighting.

pocky: I really liked your shading on this--especially on the umbrella throughout and on Tsumi on page 3. I would have liked to see a cleaner product, as a lot of it was too scratchy for my tastes, but I do think that it was right for the style of the story. Also, for your first full digital work, it was nice!

otaku: I think with a longer deadline this could've been cleaner and more finished That said, I did like some of the angles you were attempting, perspective-wise. As a storyboard its very effective, but it doesn't read so well as a finished comic. Your other recent Tsumi comics have been so great though, so I'll just assume it was the deadline. Hope to see more comics from you soon!

Faiface: Pocky: For your first all-digital try, this was quite good. You did the rain and shading really well, I want to study your pages and learn how to do that kind of shading!

using photoshop: index finger on the 'X' button (swatch switch), and using manga studio, ring finger on the '4' key and index finger on the '6' key (4=black, 6=transparent). that's all I've been doing :I

Taylor: Of course it was too bad your pages were messier than normal, but I'm glad you at least filled in all the space with greyscale and some backgrounds. Don't you think Tsumi fell over a bit too easily? XD

Good job you two :3

Pocky:  Pretty solid effort for a week (I'm pretty sure you've heard this from virtually everyone else, though)
What kind of bothers me are the arrows when Florence hands Tsumi the umbrella.

Taylor:  The lines are a bit messy, but I liked the story and the action in this comic.

You both did well for one week.

Really interesting that both of you went for (mostly) wordless comics, and really a top effort for one week.

Pocky: The sketchy style for you actually kind of worked, and the whole thing had a really nice nostalgic feel for me. I think the way you set the tone with that first page really helped you out there, I could accept it being sketchier because it was from this sort of innocent perspective. The fact that you occasionally included some really nice backgrounds also helped, and I'm dying for the way you've used some of those heavy blacks. Your wordless storytelling worked really well, I could follow the whole way, the body language and everything was great. You do need to watch your facial anatomy (eg. Florence's face in the final panel of page 4... It looks like his eyes are sliding up and off his face) and I guess my only other problem was with page 5 - I reckon it would have been nicer if that third panel was wider, or had some kind of bleeding effect into the black. Negative space shouldn't be overlooked, but it felt a bit weird on this page for me at least.

Taylor: Love that you've gone for some fuller shading in the week limit, even if it did mean losing your usually lovely lines. It was a bit messy, but it's a good start and knowing your track record, you'll have improved by leaps and bounds at it in no time. Your sketchiness didn't work so well, but it worked enough and for one week I can understand the sacrifice in quality. The way you showed action was pretty great too, I loved the way you broke up Florence punching Tsumi in the stomach, that was some nice impact. The lack of words didn't do so well - I had a few problems trying to follow the story. I got the general 'gist' of things, but I really think some dialogue would have really helped the storytelling this time around, if only to explain why Florence attacked Tsumi.

Awesome job both of you!

I don't mind Florence being cute for now, hes still new enough and your opponents haven't been so aggressive. Soon though i agree we will need to start seeing a new angle... I guess we need more jerk characters in Void lol!anyhow I liked how cute these both were and in a way they seemed like they could be read together as like a continuation- they go to the arcade to get out of the rain haha! Tay yours as I'm sure you know is kind of a step down from some others you've done but I won't judge too harshly on a one weeker. Well anyway, I liked them both! Nice comics!

William_Duel: Not to criticize your character too deeply Pocky, but are all Florence stories just going to be cute androgynous kid befriending everyone?  I thought the character was an insane assassin?  They're cute stories but not much direction.  As for the sketchy digital style, I would say try to clean up the shapes a bit more.  There is always the risk of everything blending in together, and I see you tried to avoid this by erasing out the background in sketchy patterns.  Yet I feel like this sacrifices the background too much in order for the art to stand out.  I would experiment with a different approach.

One weekers aren't easy guys but it's nice to see you guys making the attempt.

I tried to make an all-digital comic, just to save time and strain on my arm this week, but I don't think I ever want to do that again because it didn't help me much. I learned my lesson...for now. Florence is bipolar, and since the people I battled didn't really fight in the first place (and this is a one-weeker), I couldn't really conjure up anything.

Yes, my intention was to make a bubbly kid who went straight to void city only to make friends, but goes insane if someone tries to kill him. Gimme a character whose situation is always fighting, I'll make a story about fighting. In this case, the past two were tsumi and gray. Gray can't be touched, and tsumi is too nice, and I didn't want to change their personality much just to fit the story into a physical fight. But I mean, the alternate ending could have ended like this, Will: http://sta.sh/0gu6mkisvrc (taken from a livestream doodle three months ago). I'll make a fighting comic in the future and make you proud :]

pineapplepocky: Very cute, I always enjoy word-less comics :) I thought you did a pretty good job for a one-week comic, you didn't bite off more than you could chew and made it short and sweet

OtakuTaylor: What can I say dude, obviously not your best :/ I did enjoy the ending though!
