Thanks for the feedback guys!

Pyras- I was trying out a new way of showing shading due to the light of fire. I wouldn't say it was really random as I did try, but this was also experimental, so I'll try next time to make them look more controlled. thanks for your feedback, bro!

funfetus- Yeah slice of life comics I think I'll have to be more careful to use around void I think. This was mostly to show what Xia's current location and situation was, so when I start battling again, more conflict and problems start appearing in her story. Though I do agree that I could have added something with more weight towards the situation, so thanks for letting me know about that.

Thanks again, and Happy New Year everyone!

The comic looks great -- you've got great cartooning, solid backgrounds, and a really pleasing use of grey tones.  Your visual storytelling is really clear and easy to follow, and you've got some really nice moments where you used your compositions, and elements in the panel to really direct the eye. And you kept the quality high through a lot of pages, which is an accomplishment in itself.

The thing that's a bit of a let down is that for 19 pages, it really isn't that much of a story. It's mostly Xia and Sweet Itch walking around shooting the breeze. The only real hint of conflict is more than halfway through the story, where a guy is mean to Xia, but since they need her fire, it really isn't a problem anyway.  I would've been really interested to see some drama with some of the residents actually trying to kick her out or scare her off, or her being actually kicked out and having to earn her way back.

Despite those crits, it's beautiful work, and I'm looking forward to seeing more!

There's alot to like here, you've got good backgrounds, pretty good pacing, and although the story is slightly tame it's a nice slice of life bit all the same.

Grayscale has different challenges than color or black and white, speaking as someone who has used grayscale extensively. You need to add more depth with larger shadows on the characters, or deeper, and more variations of both light and dark shades, such as in the hair and in the eyes (especially the eyes).

The blue fire scenes you have the light in the right places, but the random scribbliness of the highlights isn't helping. It may look better either as simple shapes or as controlled, deliberate strokes in a radial fashion from the light source.

It's a fine story and a mostly solid comic, you should be proud~
