great comics from the both of you!

pep, love the colors, and love MB's attitude. points of creative paneling too. the gutters were just a LITTLE distracting on the last two pages, but it's definitely something you should keep playing with. otherwise, very nicely done!

hiemie, entertaining stuff as usual. it was a little more tame than your usual fare, which i'm a little grateful for. only so much random energy a guy can take, you know. i liked that MB has his own theme song, and the dragon getting eaten was a great bit.

excellent work from the both of you, keep it up!

no real qualms coming out of either of these.

pep, dug the story & the characterization. also your strongest art to date.

hiemie, the paints are wonderful throughout albeit a little muddled at times. the godzooky bit killed me, but the way you offed mr. blister was reminiscent of the kraken bit from robot chicken so it all kind of balanced out.
also, i designed your character years ago: http://kurocrash.deviantart.com/art/AMF-Chauncey-24113051

really, i enjoyed both & it's a shame you both can't move on.

Good job dudes!

I thought you both kept up a good level of art here in your respective styles, everything looked nice.
Both comics were pretty funny but Hieme's made me laugh more.

Pep, Wasn't feeling the wacky gutters except on the 1st and 3rd page where they lent to the narrative. SFX on pg. 1 were kinda meh...everywhere else worked. This one really shows off ur art skillz though.

Hieme looked good throughout your lettering always works well it was a treat here some of your best i've seen.  Didn't know how MR. Blister died til reading monday's comment, I guess I assumed he died of old age at first. A more pulled out shot would've done the trick there or maybe there was too much BG around the silloh of him hanging but it didn't read well at first.

Both of these comics were really fantastic and fun as heck to read.  It's sad only one can continue forth!

Pep's Mister Blister felt like it hit a more solid punchline to me when otherwise I felt they were both very equally matched. The Pig kind of makes me think of every Invader Zim joke, which while I think it's hilarious that in a death tournament people are now against a seemingly evil but otherwise fairly normal pig, The crotchety old man with a heart of gold who happens to be a volcano really grabbed my interest more.   Pep, if you continue, dont' forget to develop your opponent a bit more before crushing. This comic worked really well IMO- I felt really worried about the poor Bacon's well being, but don't be afraid to expand a little more. Your comics have improved leaps and bounds since I first saw your work. Keep on truckin' man! Hieme, if you continue, try not to diminish your own punchline by dragging it out- I wasn't quite sure what was going on, probably because I didn't read either character's character sheet and was learning about both Pig and Volcano via these comics. (I assume the losing his job and sad end was all fabrication, and was pretty sadly hilarious in it's randomness.)  I know other people were saying they felt there were more jokes packed in, but I felt like Pep's built up to a more epic possible direction for future opponents and a more deliberate punchline.

It was super close, I'm rooting for Pep but I'd love to see where either of these guys will go in the next round, so best of luck to both of you!

Additional: I was just now browsing the other comments as I wrote- I don't watch Dexter's Lab that frequently so I guess that whole similarity was lost on me.  Either way best of luck to the winner whoever they might be!

Pepperoni-I found the story very cute and think you did a great job on the lineart. One thing to watch out for is you're getting too dark in some areas. Like in the underground scene I understand that it's not going to be like sunny down there or anything, but lightening up the colors just a tad would have made that scene just a little more readable.

Hiemie-pretty solid entry, the ending really caught me off guard. The coloring really matched the nature of the story and character. I think the only thing to watch out for is on page 4 you got extremely muddy with your coloring. Like most of your coloring seems to be fairly even in tone, but when it comes to Mister Blister there's a lot of unevenness.

Pep: Your quality was really excellent and so were some of your more visual gags but when I noticed that immediate similarity between the cartoon and your comic, I'm sorry that I made assumptions but I thought the coincidence was kinda strong.  It was a good start though and I enjoyed Mister Blister's interactions with the pig, especially his expressions.

Hiemie: Haha I think something that makes your entry stronger than Pep's is that in a battle of humor, you just had more jokes to tell.  I was really curious about what you'd do with a pig but hey it worked.  Now I want to throw my two cents in, I'm not a water color expert but I was kinda bothered by your skyline.  Just because I felt that the watercolors on their own have a cloudy sort of quality that those white clouds were almost extraneous.  Small, probably nitpicky but yeah, there you go.

Pepperoni - Really good quality for a one week battle. I had felt I'd seen this exact story before, and now I see why... either way, the execution was good.

Hiemie - Typically absurd, but also as funny as I've come to expect from you. I really enjoyed the way you drew Mr. Blister. Not much to say, I really like your traditional work.

Yeah that one of the short Dial M for Monkey episodes.  It starts out pretty much the same way.

Peps - Some strong quality for a one weeker.  The first page had me laughing for a bit before i flipped to the next. Especially how you drew all the disturbing noise...and the cat fukking a mouse, hahahahaha. That looked ridiculously hilarious. On page two as he gets up the matrass is up the crack of his ass, such a funny lil detail. The third page is hella epic, aside from the funky perspective of the road i could really feel Blister's frustration.
When Blisters accidentally squishes the pig i was like: "Oooooh shit, didn't expect that."  Had me cracked the fukk up. Hahaha
Outstanding!

Hiemie -
Do you ever run out of ideas?  Pig factory, now that's trippin.
I loved how Mr Blister appeared all epic in the beginning and moments later walked away sadly like you see in them movies from the 60's
Blisters getting fired and the consequences of it are hilarious, especially the wonky way you drew his family. "Got a kid and two wives to feed"  Golden statement of the week! hahaha.

This was an entertaining match.

Hiemie: Story and concept is clever. execution overall is successful. art is decent and clean. For some reason I didn't catch the part where blister dies hanging himself. Points for originality and getting the godzilla themesong stuck in my head.

Pep: art is strong, super clear and the mood carries itself throughout the comic. Cause of death was sorta meh but the story afterwards show promise, it would be more effective if he spent a few more pages raging the shit out. Points for good art.
