I agree with Jared that you needed more transition panels of the wings popping out.
From a reference standpoint, I feel like your opponents will still hafta make it up on their own or ignore the transition altogether.
However, I also agree your art is getting better, the yelling crow on the last page was my favorite. I think you had a nice balance of figure and background there, crow stood out nicely even with the detailed background.

I think artistically you're coming along fine with the exception of the toning in his wings. It looks way flat and is too strong. I don't know what program you're using, but if you did these pages in Photoshop, just lower the opacity of the layer with the wing toning and that should help. But story wise I'm kind of confused about why this was a beyond battle. It would have worked a lot more to just stick it into a battle, because at the moment I'm like okay he opened his wings, cool. And that's about it.

What you have here is impressive in my eyes. This is a definite push from before. Though it's rather short and sweet, I think it works and is rather cool to look at.

good seeing you at WW
dug that cover a lot. you should experiment with color more often as i liked that overlay effect. and those backgrounds are looking nice! without line tool haha. as for the comic, i understand that it was almost a demonstration as to what happens. but it was like there are no wings & suddenly wings. if you were showing the process, even if it's a split second one, a little more detail of how they actually manifest would have really went a long way. maybe show some shots where he's not so head on, like from the back or the sides.
and the japanese sound effects still rub me the wrong way. katakana. hiragana. whatever. i don't think there's a call for either. at least here it wasn't contrasting against english dialogue.

>Amazingdavid: thanks, hey I notice you use halftones in your comics too. Can you give me a couple pointers to how you're getting them to come out so clean? Mine look fine on screen but when I export them to 72dpi they get all screwy....

jhalton this is pretty sick, the only thing is if you use japanese sfx you should use katakana instead of hiragana. Over all good work.

Very brief action sequence to show how his wings retract.
Been working on the actual design of the character and trying to make that more solid, also backgrounds...
